LagosismyHome: Yes you can book it online, Check Cheapticket.com for flights ........ However i dont know much about how Nigeria card system works or what you can use or not used to make online payment but others have done it so i guess Mastercard or Visa from Nigeria works . Best to book it immediately after booking your naija flight and leave at least 3 hours inbetween flight . Dont book when you get to Newyork because same day payment of flight would be more expensive Thank you so much, I am highly grateful.. Pls can you send me your number through PM? |

LagosismyHome: Name the city and not the state because the state is very big
The Nashville airport is the largest airport near Murray, Kentucky, but because it is a two-hour drive to Murray, the ESL Program provides shuttle service from the airport to Murray State University. There is a $75 charge for airport pick-up which will be billed along with your tuition and fees usually it is either the weekend or the week before the start date on your I-20.……….. From Google
So you either take to Lagos to New York and then take a local flight to Nashville and used this ESL Program (but let the school know in advance if you plan to use this . You would have to pay extra for your luggage (usually like $25 per bag) as these are not cover under local flight.
Or from Newyork take the bus for 17 hours y 45 minutes or almost double the hours with grey hound . . Thank you once again....is it possible to book the local flight from here or when I get to new York@ |

Fortissimo: hi2chuxy from what I can surmise, you actually didn't apply to UPenn. The VO just made a general statement that UPenn is a better school than MSU for your course and that why didn't you apply there. Just like me going for a law degree at Syracuse and the VO asking why not Harvard. Am I correct? @fortissimo.....you are very correct that was it...but it resulted into argument in the process of me defending the school. |

LagosismyHome: No please , that might be your perspection which might be true however u dont know the voices in the VO head or what he put down if any. ... Best to stick with what was written so that at least you quoting them back and not perspection . Also you dont want to come across as argumentative. Dont draw unnecessary attention
It really wasnt a misconception. He told u of a much better school UPenn which u should have acknowledged (which will show that you have researched and know the best in that field ) that yes it might be higher quality but i applied to xx for yy reasons (obviously reasons not centered around quality in this case but other factors) . Instead you argued insisted how Murray state is better ......when it is really miles below apart
I would recommend just keep it simple by stating the 214b. Most likely u get another Vo and another set of questions . @LagosismyHome,,@LagosNIV.............You guys are wonderful..every point is noted, thank you so so much......i will definitely work on them......by the Grace of God, i am scaling through this time..THANKS GUYS. |

Square65: Not a critical question, but since you are at most times not told the exact reason for your denial, I usually tell people to just restate/paraphrase what was written on that white paper (section 214b). @square65...thanks a bunch What if i tell them the misconception in referring me to the school that does not offer the course i applied to study as a bases for the denial.....I think its the only visible reason for the denial. What do u think? |

Square65: Here are some tips for future purposes:
1. UPenn is an Ivy League school. - Known particularly for its college of business. - Being aware of the top schools in your field shows your level of commitment to pursuing your graduate degree.
2. Interview seemingly broke down into an argument, without you realizing. - In my ignorance, I would acknowledge and "agree" with the VO about UPenn before proceeding with why I applied to MSU.
3. Overall, I think the VO just "punished" you for not knowing about UPenn because he doubted your genuineness. Just like an engineering student is expected to at least have heard about MIT.
4. I would say give it one more shot. I think you were just unlucky with the line of questioning. Am grateful, pls what would u advice that i say for the reason i was denied on my DS160 and at the interview. thanks |

hi2chuxy: Thanks for your concern, let me give u the transcript Vo: good morning me: good morning vo: your pasport and i20 me: i gave him vo: organizational communication in MSU,..... unipen has a better coursework in that field, why not unipen? Me: MSU has one of the best course work in biz and mgt science. And MSU is affiliated to Arthur J.b college of business where our top executives go for certifications. Vo: i am telling you that unipen has a better coursework in this particular course. Me: i have testimonies from people i have worked with in recent time who are HR consultants with PHD in this course and from MSU and with my research, MSU stands out. He typed for a while before the denial.. upon my findings, unipen offers organizational dynamics and not organizational communication. pls advice moreso, can i reapply to establish my case becos the school resumes Aug 10th. (3 to 4weeks time) LagosismyHome: Unipenn as in Uni pennsylvania That one of the best uni in america and ivy league... how can you choose Msu over unipen.... nobody will buy your excuse .the only excuse u can say for not going to Uni pen is to say yes its a great school and one of the best but i did not get funding so i can not afford it hence i am going to Msu . That d only reason that can fly money. In terms of the other reasons u stated they have it in Uni Penn and more. Its a very top top school . Business executive go to Wharton anyday over MSU Its like saying you got Havard and going for Murray State. .. then u state those reasons. Hope u understand what i am trying to say ..Uni Pen and Msu are not in the same boat ..... u raised my curiosity did u get into Uni Penn and choose Murray State ... I dont know how to appreciate you all for your responses, i was downcast when i got the denial and it was on my birthday. However, i will reapply to see if i can get a date before end of this month. You should have responded back that even though xx is better these are the reasons for choosing y... although those reasons have to be very good ones Thanks for your concern, let me give u the transcript Vo: good morning me: good morning vo: your pasport and i20 me: i gave him vo: organizational communication in MSU,..... unipen has a better coursework in that field, why not unipen? Good morning house, visa denied on monday july 11th with no documents asked which i would ve attributed the denial to. The VO was only contesting the schl i applied to study and he was referring me to another school. He said the school has a better course work in my course.
When i did my findings on the school i was referred to, i discovered the school offers ORGANIZATIONAL DYNAMICS and not ORGANIZATIONAL COMMUNICATION which i applied to study. I work as HR personnel in my organization and the course i applied to study is well rooted in my field.
My question is this, can i book for another appointment for another interview so as to make my case known becos the school resumes in August 10th?
Pls Gurus kindly advice. |

don4ye: Firstly check when the schools admission deadline for Fall 2016, you can even call them to know what good. About the standardized exam, na 50 50. VO may ask and he may not but it is good to write one if he asked to show seriousness. Thanks @don4ye, i appreciate. Are u in Nig? |

don4ye: When in May are you resuming ? Secondly, which of the two schools can you defend most if VO ask why this school? Thanks for the response. I want to know if it will be late applying for admission in any of the school i listed. Because of work exigencies (on training presently) i will be on 3 weeks leave after the training. About the standardized exam, my course does not require it (according to the school requirements) do i need to bother? |

worry359: You can defer study BEFORE joining a school. If you get there and can not pay they will reject you and notify immigration to cancel your visa. You must then leave or become illegal. Thanks for your prompt response.. For more clarity, do you mean one can defer over there or here in Nig.? A friend of mine once told me that his friend went to the US and reported to the school. He gave them stories about some financial set backs. He said they allowed him to defer and gave him a letter in that regard and he was allowed to work for the first session before going back to school. pls can that be true? |

Good morning haos, pls i have heard of graduate students deferring their admissions on getting to the US for the first session probably for the right reasons (finance) i guess.
Pls is that possible? And if it is, how will the student get his or her visa to complete his studies? |
