Most virgins I have met have idealistic, unrealistic notions/expectations about life and marriage, in general. Some women are virgins at 40, because they are frigid. Others are virgins, due to a hormonal defect. Only very few keep their virginity due to certain principles. A lady once confessed during a deliverance session, that the only reason she was still a virgin, was simply because no man had ever approached her for a relationship.

Now for teenagers and young adults who are NOT ready to get married, I always advocate sexual purity and abstinence. But for those who are of a marriageable age, please once they get into a relationship, they should be doing a thorough check on their partners, and studying him/her well, in order to know their background, character, values, strengths, flaws and weaknesses. Marriage is not all about virginity, or the lack of it. It entails so much more!

Like I said earlier, I know a lady who married her husband as a virgin, but ended up causing his death a few years later, in a fit of anger! I have seen others who got married as virgins, but still ended up cheating on their husbands! I even know of one right now, who got abandoned by her husband, that left her to go abroad in search of greener pastures, but has refused to come back for 5 years. Apparently, he has gotten married to a citizen over there, in order to get residency papers...

I know non-virgins who had failed relationships in the past, but learned from their mistakes, and have now gotten married. They now have good marriages with faithful and supportive husbands. It cuts both ways. There are different strokes, for different folks.

In fact ehn, if you know the kind of issues that married Christian couples battle with, inside church....you will feel sorry for a lot of people. I had to counsel one misguided young girl who was over 30, and was busy praying that she wanted to marry any Christian brother, from inside a particular church. Her prayer point was that the person must meet her in church. Can you imagine? As if decent, God-fearing honest people cannot be met in the workplace, or in secular circles. It took the intervention of an assistant pastor to reset her thinking, when the man told her that he met his wife inside the market, buying okporoko and catfish!

My question was a simple one. You have been preaching the gospel of virginity all over this thread, so I asked you if the muslim or traditional worshippers that are virgins were superior to the Christians, because of their virginity? Why is the question so difficult for you to understand? You also claimed that I was downplaying chastity? How? Because I refused to be judgemental, just as you are?

Too many Christians pretend and lie to themselves and in doing so, they lie to the world as well. I do not belong to that group. I tell it as it is, and God has helped me in that respect. Some naive, young Christian girls have made wrong choices based on this virginity matter, and ended up with the wrong spouses, because of judgemental doctrines such as your own.

They will be happy, thinking that since the so-called 'brother has not laid a finger on them, or tried to put any pressure on them, so therefore he must be a holy, bible-believing spotless character. Only for them to get married to him, and discover that the brother is something totally different under that veneer of spirituality, simply because the lady did not take time, effort or wisdom to study him well or look beyond the surface. I have seen a lot as a church worker. Let me just hold it here.....may God deliver us all.

The best advice someone ever gave me, was that if you are in a relationship, test your partner for anger. Find out how that person reacts when things go wrong, or events turn upside down. Next, find out how he/she handles money. But some naive Christian sisters who are trying to be more spiritual than their bibles, will tell you "God is in control," as if the Almighty did not bless them with brains and common sense.
