I have a quick question. If I use a professional mentor, someone I have worked with for several years and who holds a senior position in the energy sector, which is closely related to my field of study, as my sponsor, would that be considered strong enough for my application?

Also, is there a recommended format or template for a sponsorship letter that the sponsor should follow?

My deficit is about 16k, my uncle is my sponsor. My interview is next week and I have his statement of dollar account with 57k+. It's a 6month statement that stopped at Feb 19(I used it to obtain my I-20... My uncle is currently out of the country... Is the account recent enough as I plan to hold it while going for my interview

Hello Highsaak.

I have to park somewhere (my SUV) in order to quickly answer this because it's an interesting question which i don't want to skip.

When you digress out of the information in your Form I-20 you are automatically a liar and a dishonest F1 visa applicant.

The information in your Form I-20 must tally with your ds-160 information and both information must tally with your verbal communication with the visa officer on the day of your interview.

The only solution is to notify the school and have your uncle's financial statement forwarded to the school in order for you to receive an updated I - 20 which will state your uncle as the sponsor.

Note: If you cannot do the recommended then it is better you write family fund inside your ds-160 and attend your interview with your sister's financial statement. Ciao.

My source of funding are personal funds and family funds(I submitted my sister's account but family funds was written on my i20).
I want to change my sponsor to my uncle, can I go ahead and fill my Uncle as my sponsor in my DS160 and attend the interview with his account statement or do I need to inform the school?

I paid my visa fees today and decided not to choose any date... I checked later in the afternoon and I was able to find May 23, for Abuja... If you choose 2026, you can still reschedule too

please ehn, say for example you chose a day in 2026 for interview because there were no available dates then but you are lucky to see a closer date, can you change? or its better not to select a date yet because a selected date can't be changed?

WES evaluation takes two weeks or more... It took anout 23/24 days in my case.

I recently did WES. My school sent my transcript electronically to Wes, Jan 20... Wes completed my evaluation Feb 13... It was $246 (about 395k)

Legalized docs aren't used in the schools application but if you can legalize your docs before application, cool. Cos you'd still have to bring your docs legalized when you're coming over.
