Human Rights Watch (HRW) has urged authorities in the United Arab Emirates to reveal the whereabouts of Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the daughter of Dubai's ruler.

After saying her family were imprisoning and abusing her, Sheikha Latifa attempted to flee with the help of French former spy Hervé Jaubert and long-time friend Tiina Johanna Jauhiainen, who is originally from Finland.

The two women snuck into neighbouring Oman before boarding a small boat to meet Mr Jaubert aboard his boat.

The Nostromo set sail for the Indian coast but was intercepted by three Indian and two Emirati warships on 4 March - with Mr Jaubert claiming he and his crew were beaten by commandos.

Ms Jauhiainen said she and Sheikha Latifa were below deck when they heard shouting and gunfire.

They locked themselves in a bathroom but the cabin filled with gas. When they went on deck, she says Mr Jaubert's face was "bloody" and "unrecognisable".

Indian officials said they had no information about the incident, although media reports suggest the raid was authorised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Dubai's government and Emirati officials did not respond to requests for comment.Ms Jauhiainen, speaking at a news conference in London last month, said Sheikha Latifa kept repeating during the raid: "I am seeking political asylum."

She told reporters: "At that time I was told to keep my eyes shut, with a threat to be shot if I didn't comply.

"Then I heard someone speaking Arabic and Latifa said: 'Shoot me here, just don't take me back to the UAE.'

"She was taken away kicking and screaming."

In a statement on Saturday, HRW said Dubai authorities must reveal her whereabouts, adding: "Failure to disclose the whereabouts and status of the princess could qualify as an enforced disappearance, given the evidence suggesting that she was last seen as UAE authorities were detaining her."

Also the Nigerian government should start to restrict the buying of certain medications like other countries, and i hope the Nigerian government is aware that TRAMADOL , cough syrups and mentholated spirit are not the only medications being abused in Nigeria. The Nigerian youth should not walk into The black hole of drug abuse and subvert their own lives because of a bad government, because you can predict the future by creating it , i also hope the Government takes a stronger stance against drug abuse and provide an environment where youths can prosper, thrive and dream big. #HopeForAbetterNigeria

Can you proof it ? If not then I sense bigotry (no intentions to insult you ) in your assumtions for thinking your stuffs was stolen in Nigeria, what if it was stolen at the other end ( Kenya or in zanzibar) I feel your pain and your loss and am sure it still hurts , but u can't assume it was stolen in MMA, it could have being stolen in Kenya during transit. Sorry for ur loss.

Erm... for every flight we have to a country on our carriers, there's a corresponding flight from their country to ours on their carrier. You also need ground staff at each foreign location, so the existence of Nigeria airways will not influence things. Going from Gov't records, they'll end up hanging on to a lot of incompetent and surly staff (who you might need to bribe for window seats or some nonsense), instead of firing and hiring the best.

National flag carriers have long been inefficient money losing organizations, and governments have been divesting (British Air privatized in 1987, as did Japan Airlines). America has no government national carrier. We don't need another excuse for looting, and I just wish Arik and Peace would get their act together and really rule the skies with good service.

the case of Airik is really sad, and am glad the government didn't let them closeup last year, i hope Nigeria becomes better a place for business to grow and where competence is valued.

Not necessary, Nigeria do not need to own a National carrier, they only need to create a stable and comfortable environment for the to strive and make all foreign countries accord them the reciprocal treatment we given their National Airlines.

US does not have a National carrier and UK does not either.

well thats a point also, you know its hard for anything to work well in Nigeria, i just wished our airline comes back to life, if our economy becomes stronger and better and the naira gets powerful i believe things will shape out well.

boarded Kenya airways from Lagos to Dubai last week....gosh !their Nigerian workers are just too ride and uncouth......u could see how polite and friendly their Kenyan workers were when I transited at nairobi

although its not a reason for them to be ill-mannered , if the airline does not take care of the staffs they will act poorly, i took emirates once and the Nigerian staff were nice .

If we had Nigerian Airways how can Kenya Airways have anything serious to do here. its time the federal government revive Our National carrier .

believe me if we had Nigerian airways many of the foreign airlines will not have a seat here in Nigeria. if Nigeria can get things right we will lead Africa and the world.
