@question i have the financial aspect covered. . thanks all the same. |
Thanks for the comment. i will think about it. The reason i want to start with layers is because eggs are easier to market than broilers. When u grow broilers u hardly get individuals to buy and those dat buy wholesale give ridiculously cheap prices. The only time one can make a good profit is during festive periods like sallah, Xmas etc. As i said earlier , i will give it thot and try it with maybe 200 birds. |
So far we have spent about N200,000.00 for the building materials excluding labour.
|
In this pix u can see the site where the chicken coop will be built.

^^^Thanx watchout for some pixs tomorrow. |
House, I am about to venture into poultry farming with my best friend. We intend stocking 1000 layers. Presently we are constructing our coop. I intend to reach out to poultry farmers and other enthusiasts with this thread. i will be uploading pictures as we go along. Comments and criticisms are welcome. |
Madam L and Kabarka thank you so much for your valuable contributions to this thread. |
@Madam L, thanks a mill for the swift response. I am on a tight budget so i have no choice but to start with a smaller vehicle. The ppl in my area who are into the bizness make it out to be a breeze. Me sef have been made to believe that it's easy and the only aspect that i think will be challenging is how to break into the market, as there are a few which are kind of dominating the market. But from ur article i will surely train at an established place for at least a month. Am planning to start by selling a maximum of 500 bags per day and increase it to an acceptable level. I live in kaduna and it seems there is stil a lot of potential in the bizness. |
@Madam L thank you for the insightful article. You mentioned using trucks for long hauls. what do you suggest for a starter i was informed that it is best to start with a ford and as business grows one can add other vehicles. Any input will be highly welcome. By the way am also a female wanting to venture into purewater (and MAYBE bottled water). |
@Kabarka am still waiting for the second part. I hope it includes info on types of vehicle that can be used. Thanks |
Kabarka, Thanks for the info. The prices you qouted were fairly accurate. Though the automatic sealing machines i have come across here in kaduna comes with an installed UV unit. I believe am ready for the second batch of info. |
Thanks Kabarka. |
A question about boreholes. I have heard that the water in some boreholes has a high percent of iron content and it can not be used in the production of pure water. That said how do i know for sure if the water in the area does not contain iron? |
^^^^^ @ DR thank you so much. |
My first question. Does the use of tap water affect the business adversely or is it as good as borehole? Some ppl seem to think borehole is a must Where as others have said that it is okay to use tap water as long as it is filtered correctly. As a beginner i would like to cut start cost as much as possible. |
Your interesting thread has got me thinking seriously of starting a pure water factory to the extent that av actually made effort in contacting some ppl already in the business. I have been wanting to start a business for sometime and have a feeling this is it. Keep up the good work. I'll be back with questions and "possible" contributions. Thanks |
