As for me, I have never participated on their platform despite AMI saying our interaction on the platform will be a huge deciding factor. I find that impossible to implement.

Jethrolite, I want to ask for a favour, kindly help list out all the courses from the first to the last as in the order in which we took the courses. I want to save them in my digital library.
Actually, if you read the Digest mail AMI sent us in September, you will notice that it is actually possible to measure participation on the platform. Also, @Jethrolite, if you noticed the mail screenshot put up here by one guy that got invited to the in-class training in cohort 1, before he'd even completed all the courses, he was told that he was being granted provisional acceptance in light if his achieved progress at the time, AND his active participation on the forum.

Just to fulfil the criteria of being part of that community, I post there and ignore all notifications. That platform needs a lot of work. AMI has good courses but the presentation is poor. I watched only one video and while the presentation was going on, I could her background sound. The texts in some of the last course contain terrible English. If they do not get their things right, a competitior will sweep them away.
Haha, they need to follow their own course training advice..

If a business fails, BOI will most likely restructure the facility giving room for a more flexible repayment terms. All banks (commercial and microfinance inclusive) does that. Don't forget also that there is a 6-months moratorium cl as regards this facility. Collateral recovery/guarantor option is usually considered when all other efforts prove abortive.

I think a lot of us seem to view BOI as just any govt agency. BOI(though owned by CBN/Federal Ministry of Finance) is still a bank and operates as such. So if govt wanted to make this a grant, it would never have been through BIO

On a lighter note, the current course appears to be the most tasking.
You mean the Business Plan course right? I'm yet to start but I guessed as much, lol. I mean, just look how engaging Marketing Planning was. By the by, can I just say how much I appreciate this nairaland discussion platform? The AMI platform is great, but I have issues with the wall posting system. When I get a notification of a response to any post I've made, and click on the link, I get routed to the very beginning of the wall, instead of being linked directly to the actual post in question which is probably pages away. I find this really inconvenient having to scroll through how many pages to find and continue the conversation. Am I the only one having this issue please?

I swear if most women argued their case this way, they would rarely have issues with men. but they tend to throw logic out the window thereby causing the men to go defensive.

if you were my wife and you put your points across to me this way, the very next morning, I would have concluded all the necessary domestic chores before you'd have opened your eyes for the day.

it's the woman's attitude that is everything... there's a way you talk to a man that would have him washing your undies and bringing you breakfast in bed with joy. ladies these days are ignorant of this. they talk down on the man, leaving his ego in tatters and yet, they expect him to be reasonable....

kudos to you.... I completely get your point and I concur.
While I get what you're saying, I must say, I resent the idea that men have to to be 'babied' to get them to be reasonable. This is something men should be able to reason out on their own, and not have it 'spoon-fed' to them, as though one has to thread on eggshells around them when trying express how we feel. I'm sorry, but this sort of attitude reeks of entitled male privilege to me.

My wife is not the co-bread winner in the house or of the family and yet I assist in doing household chores becuase, for me, i believe it's a form of exercise. Besides, by doing so, I'm also saving myself some cost and frustration. It allows me to know when certain things are not available or when they are likely not going to be available and I prepare in advance.

Like I wake up before anybody, boil water for the baby's flask and the one mother and child will use to take their bath. I'm even the one that goes to bed last. Once I'm back to the house my wife practically shot down; she knows I will take charge, and I have to if I want things to be done well. I go to bed last because I want to make sure all lights are put off; there's no water on the floor, no running tap and things like that. Yet, I'm the bread winner. Though, my wife, in her magnanimity, do get some things for the house, and for which I thank her. For instance, she will cook fresh fish when I've actually given her money for 'ponmo'

Now, that's what I call a man. Not all those things strutting around calling themselves "men".

A wife must still play her full role even if she is the full breadwinner.

If I like I help and if I like I won't .

True but it's annoying na, we came for the money not knowledge or would you have applied if this online training was the only thing up for grabs?

I get what you're saying. And I do admit I probably wouldn't have gotten involved if the online training was the only thing for grabs. The way I see it though, the online training is in the bag, and a chance to get finance is still on the table, no matter how small that chance may be. That makes it worth it. Let's just calm down guys, do our best at every point in this process, try to see the silver lining in this, and everything we do. I promise we'll all be happier that way.

I have a question please. Do you know whether relatives can stand in as guarantors? Or whether guarantors have to be non-relatives?

Add that to the fact that they've wasted tax payer's money that's short in circulation training every one of us. It makes no sense if most can't access the loan. We are looking at about a billion spent on training. It's ridiculous!

I don't think the training has been a waste. Even if I'm unsuccessful in acquiring this loan, I'm 100% positive I will make use of this quality training in whatever endeavour I find myself, be it paid work or entrepreneurial enterprise .
Family / Re: How Do You Change Your Last Name After Marriage by hippyseason(f): 7:30pm On Oct 04, 2016
Iranoladun:
I'm surprise at all the responses.  To the best of my knowledge, you cannot just go to a newspaper whether you are a man or woman and just declare that you want your name to be change. shocked

If you want to change your name for reason of being married under the Native law & custom i.e. traditional marriage, church or mosque (Customary act) or marriage act (i.e. marriage in a registry) the steps below is what you need to follow:

You need to do an affidavit (i.e. swear on oath) with a lawyer (Notary Public) or in front of a Commissioner for Oath in a Court before you then go to a newspaper for the purpose of widely circulating the notice of change of name.

However, If you have a marriage certificate you will need to present it otherwise your lawyer or Notary Public may do a "Deed Poll" for you i.e. your husband will also need to sign the document to confirm that he has given his permission for you to be bearing his name.

Changing of name without a 'Mrs." simply involve an affidavit  & newspaper publication (i.e. if you are a man or you are a 'Miss"wink.

Thank you. Seven years later and this has still been a great help. So if I'm getting you right, it means I can do a change of name with an affidavit of customary marriage, even if I don't have the standard court marriage certificate yet?

Like someone said on the last page before this, that many will give up and truly, many will give up which may be no fault of theirs.

Many are married, very busy or have other important things to do. It is expected that the enthusiasm we usually start something is not the same as we will end it due to different circumstances.

As for me, I haven't had time to visit AMI this week at all and I have also not completed 2 courses namely: Effective Communication & Influencing Others. Although I have done all the tests, it's the assignment I haven't done which I will do in due course.

Despite all the challenges we may be experiencing, I know we will surmount all of it and at the end we shall be beneficiaries of this programme.

Heya, sorry about your uncompleted courses. I don't think you'll be able to do those missed assignments later though, right? Since those courses have closed. It truly is not easy for many of us, but I am determined to see this through. God help us.

What is preventing you from completing the course? I finished that course in 2 days, my lowest score ever but then I did it. Those 4 questions with one being 25% are just insane, despite having 100% in my first 4 tests I still ended with 90%. I have a lot on my hands now and just want this over with.

Lol, pity us oh, some of us are married, working full-time jobs, chasing other important things, chasing this, AND, trying to get 100% in everything wink. I just rounded up with Market Segmentation, Targeting, & Positioning yesterday, so I've only been able to begin How to Create a Marketing Plan today.

Congratulations!

You are not making any sense and you are not passing clear information by you say, "don't give up", "many that scaled through will give up" and who told you that "All this you are going through is to select the really deserving ones"?

You don't have any prove that claimed many will give up because only yourself you know, you don't know anything about others. However, no participants scaled through the first selection by mistake because BoI/FG has already invested on all first stage successful applicants, so they know what they are investing on, contrary to "All this you are going through is to select the really deserving ones". BoI/FG are not playing gamble, they have already selected the real ones and investing on them with the aim of success.

Since you don't give up, no one is ready to give up and no one would give up. Therefore, that probability statement of "many will give up" is understatement because nobody is ready to give up at any stage after successfully passed the initial first stage which is the most critical and very important stage of all.

Once again, congratulations for your success! Everybody are coming to join you.

Mind you, BOI understand that if they failed to provide loan for participants at this stage, they have already trained us better and we can access other investors.

If BoI 7 man panel could picked your business at the initial stage without you having formal training, then think of you having formal training on business management and entrepreneur, couple with your business idea that was initially picked, if you are smart. I bet you can attract other investors and be successful.

We shouldn't be afraid or intimidate by anyone not even BoI/FG at this stage, because we can do better than past days.

We need clear information that would enable us prepare for turn on the process of in-class training and we need information on you were able to access the fund not intimidation.

there are some members of this group who are self sentimental, they only give false information not relevant information that would help other while I respect and appreciate some members who devote their time to help others. May God reward each and everyone.

Na wa o. Someone that has gone ahead of us, and has taken her time to advise us constructively on the road ahead of us is getting this kind of response. Abeg thanks Millz. I appreciate you.

Rubbish. Government and BOI needs us more than we need them. That's the fact. Don't make a mistake. In business, he who has business idea and knowledge is more valuable than who has the capital.

Interesting that supposed participants of the course, who have most likely taken the course on Effective Communication are still struggling to move over from the AGGRESSIVE quadrant, to the ASSERTIVE quadrant. undecided
