Egbon, in as much as I enjoyed reading the posts, I have some reservations. Nothing too serious ![]() I think you gave out too much personal information as the names of everyone involved, at least the major actors, could easily be found out. There will definitely be people from "his" family who know the story too and the identity of "your Shiekh" so it's in light of that I'd advise you edit your posts and also ask that brother who quote you to do same. Just my opinion. ![]() |

^^^ ![]() Lemme goan check the links you shared on the other thread. |
mukina2:NINE years after, you're yet to share, Hajiya. We're still interested, at least, I know I am. |
Yes. You're right. I think there are a lot of Muslims who can make enlightening posts on a variety of topics but are held back because of questions such as "where is the evidence?" "who is your salaf on this?" Sad state. |
![]() Let's wait together Egbon. Hopefully someone will come through for us. |
https://www.nairaland.com/4720322/spirit-lives-body ^^^ That's a thread I saw earlier today on the front page. It's a Christian thread and I think the author was making sense at some point. This kind of post is hard to come by from my Muslim people. Most of the Muslim threads on the front-page on Fridays are usually one fatwa or the other, nothing engaging. Share your thoughts. |
What are your thoughts on Muharram being the first month of the Islamic year? Empiree Albaqir. ![]() I'm sure Egbon Empire.e would be like "why is this guy asking "weird" questions these days?" Truth is, I thought about the Islamic year and I wondered why Muharram is taken as first month and not Rabbiul Awwal, since the Islamic year is reference to the Hijra. And from the little I know, Hijra was in Rabbiul Awwal and not Muharram. Anyone else who knows the story should feel free to contribute to the discourse. |
Empiree:Oh, okay. Thanks Boss ![]() |
![]() Okay Bosses. I appreciate. |
I'm thinking if there's a possibility that "dhurriyat" means something besides the "offspring/seed" it is usually translated as. I'm not questioning, per se, I'm just trying to see if I can understand why He asked for a sign. |
Egbon, it seems you didn't get me. See the bolds
Yes, I know Yahya was born by Zakariya. My curiosity is in his request, I want to know if perhaps what he asked for wasn't really a biological offspring hence his surprise and request for a sign. what I'm saying is, according to me, Zakariya asked for someone to succeed and Allah out of his kindness decided to blow his mind by making that "someone" a biological offspring. Hence Zakariya's doubt of how is it possible? My wife is barren. I'm an old man.... Etc I just want to know if I'm right or wrong
|

Assalamu alaikum Fam. It's been a while I posted here. I hope everyone is in good health and iman. There's something I want to share. The story of Prophet Zakariya has had me thinking for some time. You know how he prayed for a "son" and was eventually blessed with Yahya... Peace be on them both. My thought on the story is that He actually didn't pray for a biological offspring but more like for a successor, someone He'd groom to carry on with the religious duty of calling people after him, hence his making mention of the fact that his wife was barren, and then his asking for a sign after he was given the good news of Yahya. Because I'm like "you prayed for a "son", you're told your request would be granted and you're now doubting and asking for a sign?" it doesn't quite add up for me. So, I'll appreciate inputs from my Seniors... Tbaba1234, Albaqir, Empiree, Sino and you my boss ![]() |

Dear OP, congratulations on your successful completion of NYSC. If you're less than 26, you should be on the lookout for graduate trainee jobs especially those who recruit regularly like PwC and kpmg. Monitor the job section board and while at it, sharpen your numerical and verbal reasoning skills. All the best. |
