Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo has condoled with the crowned Prince of Benin Kingdom, Eheneden Eradiauwa, on the demise of his father, Oba Erediauwa, Uku Akpolokpolo. Oshiomhole, who condoled with the crowned prince during a visit at Uselu on Monday, urged him to sustain the legacies of his father. He said the sad news of Oba’s transition came to him as a huge shock. “Though a statement had already been issued by my office on the life and times of the Oba, we are consoled that the vacuum created will be filled by a true royal crowned prince. “The crowned prince has sufficiently gone through the rigours of life and royalty. “We believe that the late Oba has prepared him as he has what it takes to step into his shoes and face the challenges that may arise. “The late Oba was not only a unifying factor to the people of the state, but to the nation in general. I therefore, appeal that the legacies and national respect he commands be sustained,’’ he said. Responding, the Edaiken thanked the governor for the visit, and said that there was not much to say as his heart was heavy and grieving due to the demise of his father. He explained that he was most pained because of the love and closeness he had with his late father which appeared to be the first in the history of the Kingdom. The crowned prince appreciated the governor’s assistance and contributions to the palace as well as the development achieved so far in the state. He also commended the governor for providing the enabling environment for investors to invest in the state, and expressed the hope that more investors would come to the state. The crowned prince further commended the media for their commitment, dedication and objective in reporting of events in the palace. He assured the people and the governor that he would do his best to justify the confidence reposed in him to lift the Kingdom to an enviable height.

Meantime, a palpable trepidation is rife in the South-East geopolitical zone following yesterday’s warning from the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, and the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, directing all Fulani herdsmen engaged in pastoral activities to retreat to the northern part of the country as their safety can longer be guaranteed.


The pro-Biafra groups said it has become imperative for the Fulani herdsmen to leave the region as it can no longer, ”tolerate the systematic killing of our people and invasion of our land in the name of cattle grazing.”


In a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Enugu yesterday, MASSOB Leader, Uchenna Madu, revealed that it has mobilized its allies to ensure that its directive was heeded.


According to Madu, ”we can no longer tolerate the systematic killing of our people and invasion of our land in the name of cattle grazing. Seventy per cent of Fulani herdsmen in the eastern region are Northern-trained secret army assigned for devastation and secret killing of Biafrans.


“MASSOB in collaboration with IPOB and other affiliates have vowed to protect Biafra land with enthusiastic spirit.

Kick your shoes off and get ready to get honest. When God doesn’t seem to be answering our prayers it can be hard. Sometimes, down right awful.

One minute I’m determined to trust God. In the next, I feel myself slipping. The “why” questions tumble in so hard. My heart hurts. My eyes leak. And in those raw moments I just feel a little mad and a lot confused.

Ever been there?

I don’t want to oversimplify what to do in these times. I know from the prayer requests you’ve been leaving many of you are facing really tough issues. Situations where the answers aren’t easy or clear cut. But I have discovered a few things that help me when God seems silent…


* Press in to God when you want to pull away.

When I really want to hear from God but He seems silent, I sometimes find I want to disengage from my normal spiritual activities. Skip church. Put my Bible on my shelf. And let more and more time lapse between prayers.

But the Bible says we will find God if we seek Him with all our heart. Jeremiah 29:13, “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.” All my heart includes the parts that are broken. Bring it all to God.

He can handle your honesty and will respond. But we have to position ourselves to go where truth is. Go to church. Listen to praise music. Read verses. Memorize verses. And keep talking to God.


* Praise God out loud when you want to get lost in complaints.

In the midst of what you’re facing, find simple things for which to praise God. I don’t mean thank Him for the hard stuff. I mean thank Him for the other simple, good things still in the midst. A child’s laugh. A bush that blooms. The warmth of a blanket. The gift of this breath and then the next.

Psalm 40:3 reminds me God will give me a new song when I make praise the habit of my heart and mouth. “He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many will see and fear and will trust in the LORD.”


* Put yourself in the company of truth.

That friend that speaks truth? Listen to her. Stay connected to her. Let her speak truth into your life even when you’re tired of hearing it. Stand in the shadow of her faith when you feel your own faith is weak. Let her lead you back to God time and time again.

Proverbs 12:26, “One who is righteous is a guide to his neighbor…”

It’s okay to feel a little mad and a lot confused. Our God is big enough to handle our honest feelings. But don’t let your feelings lead you away from God or away from His truth. Press into Him. Praise Him. And put yourself in the company of truth.

As you stay with God in these ways, you will become ready to receive His answer when it comes.


Prayer : Dear Lord, thank You for hearing every 'why' my heart sends up to You. Forgive me when I retreat from You and Your Word. I want to trust You more. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Recall that Rev Emeka Ezugo (aka Rev King) was on September 26, 2006 arraigned in a High Court sitting at Lagos over an accusation that he poured petrol on one Ann Uzoh, a member of his church, and set her ablaze as her punishment for allegedly committing adultery.
Rev King who was initially accused of attempted murder was later tried for murder as his victim died 11days later owing to injuries sustained from the burns.

He was subsequently convicted and sentenced to death by hanging on 11th January, 2007 by one Justice Joseph Oyewole now a judge of the Appeal Court in Calabar.
The pastor however challenged the sentence before a Lagos Court of Appeal but the appellate Court upheld the judgment issued by the High Court which led him to finally approach The Abuja Supreme Court seeking for the nullification of the judgment by the Supreme court.

Rev King who appealed the death sentence passed on him by the Lagos High court pleaded that he was not guilty of the charge that was leveled against him.
Unfortunately for him, The Appeal Court sitting in Lagos upheld the judgment of the Lagos High Court which ruled that Rev King must die by hanging for killing one of the members of his church.
Rev. Chukwuemeka Ezeugo would have to wait till Feb. 26, this year when the Supreme Court would give the final judgment on whether he would be killed or would be asked to go and sin no more.

Present at the first hearing of Rev Kings’ case by the Supreme Court were Mr Adeniji Kazeem (Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice) and Mrs Idowu Alakija, the Director of Public Prosecution who asked the Supreme Court to uphold Rev King’s death sentence.
After hearing both the counsel to prosecution and defense in the case, Justice Walter Onoghen of the Supreme Court slated the judgment for Feb 26, 2016.

Ooni Of Ife is Too Small to Oba Of Benin – Bini Palace

Following the statement credited to the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo that the Oba of Benin is the third in the ranking of kings in the old Western region, the Palace of the Oba of Benin has dismissed this as untrue.

The Esogban of Benin and Odionwere of the Kingdom (traditional head), Chief David Edebiri, said the Ooni of Ife was a son of the Oba of Benin, and that the stool of the Oba of Benin could not be compared with that of any Yoruba King.

Esogban,who is third in command in the palace of the Oba of Benin, said: “We wanted to discard this report as something that was not necessary at all. We do not see how the Alake of Egbaland suddenly woke up to think that the Oba of Benin is also a Yoruba Oba. There is no basis for such classification; Oba of Benin has nothing to do with the Yoruba Obas. It is simply unnecessary, unless they simply want to stir up an unnecessary controversy.

“We are not in Yorubaland. To be frank, it is because many of them are not willing to come up with the truth, the word Oba is alien to Yoruba monarchy; it is not part of their title from time immemorial.

“For instance, the one they call the Oba of Lagos, these are recent adaptations. In the 50s, there was no Oba of Lagos, what we had was the Eleko of Eko. That is the title of the King there. In Ibadan, you have the Olu Ibadan. You come to Abeokuta, you have the Alake of Egbaland. You come to Oyo, you have the Alaafin of Oyo. In Ilesha, you have the Owa-Obokun of IIesha. So no Yoruba monarch had as part of his titles the word Oba except the Oba of Benin.

“That word Oba is indigenous to Benin. It is only in recent times you find everybody bearing Oba. When the Western Regional conference of traditional rulers took place in Benin City in 1942, go and check the attendance, there was no other monarch in the whole of the Western Region then that bore the title of Oba, except the Oba of Benin. So it is an unnecessary excursion, an unnecessary attempt to turn history upside down by the Alake by classifying the Oba of Benin as third in the hierarchy of kings. Our own traditional history says that the Ooni of Ife was a Benin Prince who wandered from here to Ife, settled there and became the ruler there. That is the position, if they don’t know, they should send people here; we will teach them. We will show them landmarks.

“So this is unnecessary misrepresentation of history. Maybe the Alake wanted to mention a different place and not Benin. The monarchical rulership in this part of the world started from Benin during the era of the Ogisos. It was the son of the last Ogiso, Owodo, that wandered from here to Ife and he became a ruler there, carrying everything about the Benin monarchical system to that place.

“There is no basis for such classification. The Ooni of Ife by historical facts, is a son of the Oba of Benin, so they are not in the same class. The Oba of Benin is the only one that answers Oba, the rest don’t. But today, we hear Oba here and there, they are all recent adaptations. I am saying categorically that the word Oba is indigenous to Benin and not to Yoruba nation.”

The NLC has embarked on the forewarned nationwide protest over a 45 percent increase in electricity tariffs.A protest which held at the Ikeja office of the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company, has left Lagos in frenzy;

Protest may continue if the tariff increase is not reversed.


Lagos state was sent into some moments of frenzy, following a protest march by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) at Alausa, Ikeja.


With songs of the Afro-beat legend, Fela Kuti, crooning in the background, the protesters walked tirelessly with various chants regarding the issue on ground.


At the IKEDC office, the protesters who could not get to meet with the chief operating officer of the company, went ahead to engage the management of the firm.


Comrade Amaechi Asugwuni who led the thicket-delegation to the electricity firm, said the an anti-people policy cannot be imposed on the Nigerian people.


Asugwuni said the protest is a tool to vehemently refuse the increase which is not in the best interest of the masses, stressing that the government must check what is most beneficial to the people.


He said a voice had to be raised against the exploitation of Nigerians who have already been exploited. Adding that the masses will not be made to pay for the darkness which they are offered.


According to Asugwuni, the policy backing the increment is anti-Nigerian. He stressed that the trend has been for officials of the electricity firm to pester citizens every month end, to pay for services not rendered.


The comrade recalled that there was a promise to provide metres for all houses within the country but the promises have not been redeemed.


He concluded by noting vehemently that the protests will continue nationwide, if the tariffs are not reduced and the policy backing the increment reversed.

A coalition of seven political groups under the umbrella of Kogi West Peoples Forum (KWPF) on Sunday gave notice of its intention to commence the immediate recall of Senator Dino Melaye, who represents the zone in the Senate, over allegations of gross misconduct unbecoming of his exalted office.

The coalition called on the people of the Senatorial District to support the patriotic move, as a matter of urgency and responsibility, and save the zone further embarrassments.
The group spoke at a press conference ‎in Lokoja on Monday, addressed by Alhaji Musa Mamman Ibrahim.
The members lamented what they described as poor representation of the district by Senator Melaye, regretting that Kogi West District has been relegated to irrelevance on account of its Senator’s exuberant behavior.
According to Ibrahim, Senator Melaye has since his election threaded the path of infamy by neglecting his primary responsibility to his Senatorial District on the floor of the Upper House for an unwarranted political ego tripping to massage his over-bloated ego and personal aggrandizement.
“As a Group, we are not out to witch-hunt anybody,” Ibrahim said. “But we owe it a duty to ensure that our Senatorial District is properly represented in the National Assembly. Unfortunately this has not been the case with Melaye who has virtually turned an otherwise serious business of legislation to a grandiose display of infantile exuberance, cronyism and other shameful vices unbecoming of a Distinguished Senator”.
Ibrahim cited the example of Melaye’s predecessor, Smart Adeyemi, saying he contributed immensely in ensuring the award of the rehabilitation of the Kabba-Egbe road but that construction work has since stopped, and requires the attention of Senator Melaye.
“Unfortunately our fun -oving Senator would rather pursue after vanities than take up such important issues,” he said.
He expressed regret that rather than being associated with meaningful motions aimed at elevating the interest of the Senatorial District, Melaye is being derisively seen and read about in the media as a “bodyguard”,”handbag carrier”,or “MC”, among others.
“It is also either “Senator Melaye is busy insulting elder statesmen or chasing after fashion vanities by wearing outrageous robes and Turbans to the Red Chambers instead of squaring up to the serious business of legislation”.
Ibrahim criticized Melaye of display unimaginable and demeaning character traits traceable only to conventional motor park touts, as a result of which Kogi West has become the butt of jokes across the globe.
“We therefore owe it a duty as a people to recall Senator Melaye in order to avoid further damage to our collective psyche and escape his disastrous outing before it consumes us. To conclude therefore that we need an urgent replacement for Melaye is a gross understatement”.
KWPF further lamented Melaye’s neglect of various problems facing the Senatorial District, such as roads, portable water and electricity.
“You can imagine that the Senator has not even deemed it fit to have a functional Constituency Office in Kabba, headquarters of the Zone,” the group said, wondering how he can even appreciate the enormity of the problems facing the people.
“It is very unfortunate that the people of Kogi West that are renowned to be highly educated, to have produced first class administrators, politicians, and responsible people in various endeavours are caught in the present mess,” Ibrahim said, adding that KWPF was already discussing with the relevant stakeholders in the respective local governments on the need to expedite action on the recall process.

4. CONCRETE PLANNING
Set clear goals and make concrete plans to achieve these goals. Habakkuk 2:2 And Jehovah answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tablets, that he may run that readeth it.; This is a biblical admonition to the people of God.
If you make concrete plans to achieve clear goals and you remain steadfast in your plans, backed up with strong prayers, the victory may tarry based on God’s own plan for your life but there is no demon on earth that can stop your breakthrough at God’s set time.
5. PRAY UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS (PUSH)
The final and the key point is PUSH. You must pray and pray and continue praying until something happens. Never give up. David said; I would never leave you until you bless me.
Lk 9:62 Jesus replied, "No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.". There is no room for going back unless you fail. Keep praying even when trusting in God looks and sounds stupid. Keep praying and trusting in God until something happens, in other words PUSH.
