agaugust: . South Africa in electricity supply crisis, begins to copy Nigerian technology !
Goodluck Jonathan shows Mandela's people how to draft national energy policy o ! .
The Federal Government has started installing electronic monitors to check the vandalism of gas pipelines as part of measures aimed at ensuring regular power supply, the Minister of State for Power, Mr. Mohammed Wakil, has said.
He expressed confidence that the recent privatisation of the power sector would soon yield visible results, noting that South Africa was already emulating the exercise, which he described as a model for many other countries.
Wakil said this on Saturday in an interview with journalists in Abuja.
The minister said in due course, Nigerians would soon be taking power supply for granted.
He said, “Power supply will become what Nigerians can take for granted. We are expanding investment in the transmission sector through the involvement of the private sector.
“The distribution companies are investing in system upgrade, like South Africa is about to start. The generation companies are busy with the upgrade, especially after the administration had addressed the gas-to-power issue. We are installing electronic monitors to check incessant vandalism of gas pipelines by enemies of the nation.”
Wakil said South Africa was emulating the Nigerian privatisation model for the transformation of its ailing energy sector.
This, he argued, was a vindication of the durability of the policies and programmes of the President Goodluck Jonathan administration.
He said the crisis rocking the South African power sector had necessitated the country to draft a power sector privatisation bill now before its parliament.
The minister said, “Nigeria has become a model for power sector reforms in Africa. A bill, almost like our 2005 Electricity Sector Reform Act, is in the works in the South African parliament. We must commend President Goodluck Jonathan for this.

agaugust: Working light bulb?
Every Nigerian that gets power cut in load shedding has a back up from personal electricity generator, diesel or petrol powered at home, one of our 100 watt light bulbs is brighter than your 1,000 Johannesburg candle lights joined together
3% of what ?
You make a big mistake, Nigeria's PHCN federal government power generation only is the 3,000 to 4,000 MW you guys always post here.
There are many private companies and state/provincial government owned electricity power stations generating extra electricity under NIPP policy, some of those NIPP power plants produce independent 200 MW, some 500 MW, some 1,000 MW.....those supply power to big industrial areas and special non-industrial zones....you always miss those out....Fool
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_power_stations_in_Nigeria . You've just confirmed that Nigeria generates roughly ~3400MW. |

Talk of PR with the west Your people are quick to throw insults, was Malema wrong to say what he said?Isn't about time we Africans stood in solidarity and fought together and stop relying on our id10tic leaders? Why is it always eaiser for us to show solidarity with Europeans but not among ourseves? Ask yourselves why you take offence that South Africans are discussing the seriousness of the situation in your country. We are out here busy flexing about things we don't have and fighting over superiority while our continent burns. WAKE UP! |

johnie: Yes it is shameful but the ANC government has not been able to maintain the power system.
President Zuma's government is blaming the problem on Apartheid after twenty years of ANC rule.
What would be the reply of an average Nigerian to any government at any level blaming the military for any problem?
I maintain my stance, let Malema face their problem and leave Nigeria alone.
He is a known attention seeker who enjoys taking cheap shots! I hope you know that there are many power plants currently under construction in SA.And also, that they are about to built 8 nuclear power plants worth $10bn.You are comparing apples and lemons my friend. |

denisfidha: Yeah, I remember a South African commenting the same thing (his exact comment was 'keep dreaming') when our then principle secretary for the ministry of IT(Kenya) made the declaration that we intended to have a higher internet speed than that of South Africa and probably the whole of Africa back in 2010. The dream did come true 3 years later. In the same declaration, the principl secretary also said Kenya has an intention of bieng the most technologically advanced nation in africa,,,,,, we are not there yet, but having a vision is already being halfway there.(i think thats a stolen quote from some famous guy)
You see apart from diamond and gold and all those minerals you extract, what is of most advantage in South Africa is you industry and manufacturing sectors, you have almost 40,000 megawatts of electricity to make it all possible, on the other hand, Kenyas production capacity is so far behind its not even mentionable, but for the sake of argument its just about 2,300MW with 140MW added just 2 months ago, but thats will soon change.... With the same vision and determination that kenya wants to be mordernised and industrialised, by 2018, KenGen plans to have added 5,000 MW from geothermal,Wind,Solar and coal wich was resently discovered, by 2030, the production will be around 30,000.. as the demand will need by that time.... Some of these progress is what has made some technology and manufacturing companies set up there headquarters here in Kenya instead of more developed countries (infrastrucure-wise) in Africa like SA, infact General Electric which has so many big plants and employ many southAfrica skilled labour moved its African headquarters from SA to Kenya, and when the manager was asked why they havent set up a bigger manufacturing plant here in Kenya , he said the only reason is because Kenya doensnt have cheap electricity that is available in plenty, and as soon as that will happen, they will surely do that.
So, I say again, We are coming for you SA! Slowly but surely! And if you think our ambitions are a dream, then we will surely make them come true, and if don't believe it, sit back and watch events unfold You do realise that GE was never going to succeed in South Africa, because 95% of electricity production in South Africa is in government's hands. It was easier for them to move on to the next unsuspecting country and dominate their power sector instead. |

No wonder your country is full of block-headed Olodos .
So those jobless Soweto men in their millions consider teaching to be a low paying job and decided to sit down at home every day of their lives demanding ANC government free food free housing and cash handouts.
Wow ! What a foolish nation South Africa is, and you want to be leader of Africa? Who will follow your foolish example ? . Id!ot,ehy would anyone aspire to go to University to study for an Education degree when they can do Actuarial Science,Accounting,Medicine or Engineering? Point is,teaching is a low paying job, nobody grows up seeing teaching and nursing as career paths. |

adamskutty: haha! This is just what i want.
Now time to lecture u bruised beast, the agitated blue old buffoon a bit
Now u cursed, malnourished blek southy baboon, west africans weren't enslaved in their community nah! nah! nah!
Infact, northern nigeria wasn't involved in the trans atlantic slave trade, they were busy trading with their arab counter parts in horse, ivory, cloths, leathers, salt e.t.c and only few southern communities sold slaves to the white man. . Those slaves were prisoners of wars .
The descedants of those southern nigerians are actually descendants of slave owners who were blacka . The descendants of those slaves are the AAs.
And u cursed, loudmouthed, soulless septic psycopathic clodhopper with an IQ equivalent to a dot (.) knows nothing about ur slave history, all blek southy boons are descendants of slaves, the white man came and invaded ur sitty land right from the 16 century and made y'all slaves right in ur home ,don't y have any rulers? oh, or maybe they were very primitive baboons
Hahaaha! I remember watching the film. "the gods must be crazy" which talked about the primitiveness of the blek bushmen southy
when a coca cola bottle was thrown from a flying plane to the ground, one of them saw it, picked it, and ran to his primitive community shouting, the gods have sent a gift
Another part, showed a large group of blek bushmen of southy sitting down, a small plane flied over, when they heard the noise from the plane, they started laughing and said "THE GODS MUST HAVE EATEN TO MUCH AND NOW THEIR STOMACH IS MAKING NOISE
These are facts i present to u southy blek slave
U suffering and smiling ape, u should be caught, tied to a truck and drag acrosa the cactus filled wasteland of ur zoo for daring to argue with ur 9la lord and owner u are below me
Subhumans like ur kind who r@pes virgins thinking it will cure them of hiv are below me. I spit on u warthog faced buffoon
U lowest of the low, bow before me u blek slave Perfect example of why people should never stick their heads in their a$$es. |
