WHEN THE MIND IS SICK - Part 3 HEALING FOR THE SICK ...For you to enjoy the healing available to your mind, you must first acknowledge the fact that your mind can be sick. 1. A good treatment for the sick mind is the DETOXIFICATION of the mind. Various thought flows into the mind repeatedly. One of these is negative thinking. Negative thought flowing into the mind are toxic to the mind, which can only be removed from the mind by pure or positive thinking. This is the detoxification process of the mind, the removal of negative thoughts through positive thinking . For example, erotoxin is a toxic substance of the mind and brain, which is produced when the mind is exposed to erotic pictures. Erotoxin can therefore be removed by replacing what you feed your mind with through the channel of the eye. Most times, what the mind think is as a result of what the eyes had seen. 2. Another cure for the sick mind is being OPTIMISTIC. You just have to keep believing that something good is about to happen. Keep your mind occupied with believes in the reality of great possibilities. As much as circumstances provides you with reasons for negative emotions, don't forget to remind yourself of the HOPE you have for living. Replace the dead-rotten works of your mind with pure conscience of hope and optimism. 3. Feed your mind on HEALTHY DIET. Biographies of great mind, excellent books written by well tested and proven authors, videos that challenge the status quo and revive your passion and more, are all healthy diet good for the mind. 4. Above all, the best instrument upon which you can renew your mind is the word of God - THE BIBLE. The word of God is God's thought, think on them. WHEN THE MIND IS SICK - Part 2 A sick mind will lack the following; -POSSIBILITY THINKING -For an individual with a sick mind, right before he starts a project or take up a new task or even in the middle of the task, his mind is made up not to see the possibility of an excellent outcome. And as a result of this negative mindset, a barrier is placed on his mind against any possibility. A sick mind sings songs of impossibility. They rather prefer to find excuses not to do anything, than to see reasons for doing something. Such mind lacks faith; faith in God, faith in it's vision, faith in itself. -PROGRESSIVE THINKING- When the mind lacks Progressive thinking, it actually lacks the ability to THINK BIG, to see beyond the present. A mind which lacks Progressive thinking only lives on the historical trend of failure it had encounter, and not wanting to try again, after it had experienced several downturn. Such mind is incarcerated by its past. It can't recognize time and opportunities even if it present itself, because it still lives in its past . -PRODUCTIVE THINKING - Productive thinking is a result - oriented thinking. Everything we see in our world today, either natural or material, had first being concluded in the world of thought, which is in the mind, before it materialize physically. A sick mind is not like this. A sick mind will never see the possibility of a new invention, neither does it have the ability to conceive Productive ideas that would be needful and helpful in the society. HEALING FOR THE SICK For every sickness, their are causes and for every cause there is a treatment ;a balm to every fractured bone. The Holy Bible also pointed it out that for a Christian who is saved, the mind isn't new at salvation, though the spirit is. Hence, the tendency for the mind to be sick if it isn't being renewed always. A Christian whose mind is sick has not understood the fact that walking in the Spirit does not annul the mental faculty, rather it enables it for Spirituality, for productivity and for effectiveness in life. Among many aspect of our mind is the place of our THOUGHT. Our mind is not a vacuum, as influx of thought tends to flood the mind continuously. Negative thoughts are pushed our of the mind only by pure and positive thoughts. But, I have seen many a great man who had transform mistakes into great success. MISTAKES, NOT FAILURE Making mistakes is not equivalent to being a failure. Your mistakes shows that you have the potentials to do a task better, just because you have learnt another new way to do it well. When you make mistakes, it shows you have an unbending desperation for success and excellence, which demands just two things from you: -Taking one more step, and -Using a new strategy Failure on the other hand is repeating the same mistake with the same strategy and expecting a new result. MISTAKES ARE REQUISITES FOR SUCCESS What gives us happiness and fulfilment after the completion of a task, is not the success of that task itself. We thank God for the success of every endeavor, that is true. But we are happy and we feel fulfilled whenever we make mistakes; mistakes which eventually leads to great success. This is the brain reward mechanism; a way the brain appreciates itself over accumulated efforts, in the form of mistakes, which are requisites for success. BE POSITIVE When you make mistakes, don't say to yourself; I am not just good. I am a dullard. I don't have any skill. I am not better. I am less than my colleagues. Rather, remind yourself of who you truly are and what you carry inside of you; I am God's own image. The Spirit of wisdom is upon me. I can do all things. I am better than the rest. I know who I am. Stay hopeful for the greater days ahead of you. Be Positive. Have faith. You are closer to your breakthrough than you least expect. The test of your faith and the extent of your trust on God shouldn't be your end. God loves all His Children and He desires to trust all too. Trust in itself, says; "give me some time." THE TRAGEDY:COMFORT GREATER THAN PASSION There is a tragedy in the world today. A tragedy which has rendered the old ones among us useless, the youth among us frustrated and now, it is eating deep into the future of our generation. This deadly and sadden situation is the tragedy of Comfort being preferred above passion. Passion is a drive imputed into everyone of us to help us live our life in peace, satisfaction and fulfilment. The passion in us is to make us see how life feels good when we do what we love doing with our time, mind, energy and resources. Moreso, the key that opens the door to fulfilment and impact is the master key called passion. Many who has the latter, only wished for the former, but they love to stay in the "comfort zone", rather than paying the price for what they wished for. For our passion to produce result, it is always accompanied by a price to pay. Here is a list that tells us we might be in tragedy of the comfort zone rather than paying the price for passion; 1. When your past achievement appears more glorious to you than the present. 2. When you no longer ask questions: result-oriented questions. 3. When you start seeing yourself as though you have arrived at your final destination at every slight accomplishment. 4. When what fires up the passion in you seems to have died out; things which use to motivate you no longer has meaning to you. 5. When you keep believing that God will DO EVERYTHING FOR YOU, without you doing anything. 6.When your attention is shifted from people oriented goals and generational impact, to Self materialization and self gratification. 7. When people who surrounds you are people who encourages your relaxed and complacent state. Friends, make up your mind today to live your life with passion, with enthusiasm, believing that you are not to add up to the world number but to multiply yourself in everyone through impact, motivated by passion. THE BEST WAY TO SPEAK Dave and Smith are two friends with widely spaced behavioural differences. Dave appears to be the responsible and God fearing guy. His Godly behavior is in contrast to Smith rugged life style. Smith is a womanizer and an alcoholic. But Smith has a strength in disguise. He has a weak emotion and he is easily moved by the oppression and suffering of the needy. Smith has a kind heart. Two weeks after resumption into the University, Smith decides to pay a visit to Dave in his hostel but he was shocked at what he saw. Smith caught his friend in a sex romp and was so shocked that he struggles to mutter these words to his friend. Smith said; "Dave! You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I had always wanted to live my life with so much organization, direction, peace and Godliness, as yours. But I couldn't help myself because I had become so addicted. I had been hoping that one day, as our friendship progresses, heaven will smile at me and things will become better for me. But why? " Dave responded without any feeling of remorse, as he said: "I had always longed to live my life like this. Enjoying the sweetest of the sweetest; sex. I was only held bound by the shackles of religion which my Pastor father had kept me. But now am free, free like a bird. " Friends, Dave and Smith scenario might be quite different from yours. However, the message remains the same. We are all life teachers, who teaches unconsciously by the way we live our life. No man is entirely bad. Every "bad" man you see has an iota of goodness in him. St. Valentine demonstrated the POWER IN LOVE, FOR WHAT IT CAN GIVE UP AT ANY COST compared to what it can receive. He made young folks realize that LOVE IS A SELFLESS SACRIFICE; sacrificing your comfort, your luxury, your time, your resources and even your life, whenever the need be, just for the sake of LOVE. The similarity between two talented musicians is not in the song they sing similarly. Rather, it is in the understanding that though they might both be talented in music but they aren't meant to perform on the same platform to the same audience. STAND TALL TO STAND OUT Every talent or gift has its own unique platform; a place where they can only be appreciated and celebrated. No matter how identical our gifts/talent might look, they aren't meant for the same platform and the same audience . Whenever you stand on your own platform to perform, you naturally attract your own audience, and this invariably gives you your anticipated result. People tend to struggle when they try to be like others. You are unique as you are. You stand out gloriously whenever you stand to be your very best self. Do not just be yourself to your audience, BE YOUR VERY BEST SELF. TAKE CHARGE Never think someone is already doing fine in what you are supposed to do and then feel relaxed and complacent. Or maybe someone is doing better than you. This is a wrong mindset. NOBODY IS ALLOWED TO TAKE OVER YOUR SHOW UNLESS YOU ALLOW THEM . How? THE "DO IT LITTLE" SYNDROME (PART 2) Starting small is not the issue of concern now. We had made it known in the previous part of this article that it is not unwise to start small, but it becomes foolishness to remain small. More so, it is an abuse to the Spirit of Excellence in you to remain small. Consider this illustration; A very tall ladder was seen standing on it's feet, well supported at the base with many people crowded about it, including you. Some tries to climb up but were discouraged by the height, others felt satisfied just staying at the bottom of the ladder. Alas! Until you decide to break out of the crowd, Until you dare stand out and step out in faith to climb up, you aren't better than those satisfied staying at the bottom of the ladder. Aspirations are often desires which are far from us. We are to reach out for them. They are always far from our stand point and bigger than our present status. IF IT IS NOT BIGGER THAN YOU, THEN IT IS NOT WORTH YOUR ASPIRATION. Never stop aspiring. Keep dreaming. Do not stop thinking big. As long as you can conceive it, you can achieve it. "YOUR TALENT HAS A WORLD RECOGNITION FACTOR EMBEDDED IN IT"-Abaire Olawale Trying to break-even in life is the "Do it little " syndrome, which had killed many great dreams. Dreams which are meant to be a world class reality are shattered by this syndrome. The "Do it little" mentality says;"For myself, my family and my clan alone." It is also the mediocrity thinking of a subsistence farmer, who plants crops just for himself and his family only. Never let yourself to be infected by this syndrome. You aren't living just for yourself alone. You are created for impact; world kind of impact and not a mediocre. YOUR TALENT HAS A WORLD RECOGNITION FACTOR EMBEDDED IN IT. Then, why limiting yourself. Excellence... We are God’s most unique creature. Created in His own image and likeness. A major part of our make up is the SPIRIT OF EXCELLENCE, which we inherited from God our father and creator. Excellence is who we are. Your real "you" is the excellent "you". Anything less than that is an aberration. The excellent" "You" is the one who sees big accomplishment in every small venture. The one who sees no impossibility to what he can achieve. The one who is able to envision a beautiful ending from every small and cloudy beginning. That is who you are. Therefore, live your life to the fullness. Do not the live like the mediocre, who is always contempted with just little accomplishment. There is more you can do with your life. You are Next to be Announced... Friends, it will be needful to say; "never despite days of small beginning". A pause is not a stop. A pause is a short break for a breakthrough which is to come. Everyone of us needs a break at one point or the other in the journey of our life. You recapture your initial vision and its passion, each time you pause, a little. Retreat but, do not Retire... A pause is an appropriate time to stay out of work times business purposely; with the aim of acquiring new skills, getting new ideas, new innovation and new strength. Each time you take a break out of your "usual activities", you come out refreshed, dynamic and energetic. The journey of life becomes more directional, more specific and less struggle. When you pause, you retreat. Many at times, people tend to interpret the word "retreat" to mean entering into your Comfort zone. No! To retreat is a time to reconnect to the power source. A time to go back to your "thinking chair" in order to strategize on laid down plans, perfectly. "Retreat" is a military term common among soldiers during battles. It is a time for them to map out new plans, a time to regroup and a time to prepare for victory ahead of them. Understanding Times and Season... Moreover, Life is a journey. Each time you take a short break for a breakthrough in the journey of life, an understanding of where you are coming from, where you had gotten to, and where you are still going dawns on you. A pause is just a perfect time to understand what is happening within and outside our life. A Moving train will soon meet its dead end if it does not pause at its appropriate station. This is why we all need a short break in the journey of life. I read about a baby locust(hopper) recently. These young bugs can't quite fly. But, they can jump up to 200 times their height. The hopper learns to fly by riding the wind. When the wind blows, the hopper catch the wind and fly in the direction of the wind. Timing is crucial for the hopper to fly. In the same manner, whenever we pause, we take a break to understand the times and seasons we are in, and we take actions accordingly. We outrun with ease those who had gone ahead of us during our breaktime. This is what men calls GRACE. Take time out to understand your times and seasons. I was walking through the dusty path of my street one Sunday afternoon when I noticed this tall and fruitful palm tree. The whole body of the tree was marked with scars, indicating the positions of its leaves which had fallen or chopped off. SCARS- Signs of Committed Addiction to Real Success The above illustration is a perfect picture of what some of us are passing through right now. Scars all over our body. Scars of life challenges, Scars of unpleasant circumstances, self sacrifices without positive results, stress, just to mention a few. Some might have even said; "But why me? Do I really have to go through all these?". The truth is, life challenges are actually a requisite to greatness. They are important curriculum in the school of Greatness, where you and I had enrol as students. Life challenges, trial times, hard times, are required to bring the best out of us and kill the mediocrity in us. Les Brown, a renowned Motivational speaker once said; DO WHAT IS HARD AND YOUR LIFE WILL BE SIMPLE. DO WHAT IS SIMPLE AND YOUR LIFE WILL BE HARD ". There is always a price to for extraordinary accomplishment. There is always a process to greatness. There is always a training before every promotion, and the intense the training the greater the end result. Keep Hope Alive... The training might actually seem painful now, just keep your head up. Let the hope of the end result be your focus. Life challenges are not meant to tear you apart. Of course, they can't. They are there to mold you into who you are meant to be; A Victor not a Victim. A woman full of strength and virtues. You are being changed from the inside out, each time you stand up against life challenges for the hope of a greater tomorrow. Do not forget, the battle gets more fierce when you are closer to victory. It is at this time you need to muster more strength. Let hope come alive within you. Speak words of hope to yourself. Words are really powerful. They have creative powers. Speak what you want, until you see what you have spoken. I speak these words of hope to myself often. You can also do the same. Now, say to yourself: "I may not be where I should be now, But am not where I used to be. God is working every circumstances for my good. I may not know how or the way He will do it, but I trust which ever way He does it." Keep saying these words. Trial Times are Training Times, not Forever... Life challenges are more, particularly in the area you are meant to impact lives.
