Politics / Re: Ibim Semenitari Reacts To The "Invasion" Of Her Home By Rivers Govt Officials by homu88: 7:37am On Jun 19, 2015
I don't see you as any different from Wike with this comment. He could simply have transmitted a letter and gotten her feedback before taking action. It's not news anymore that exiting government officials including retired civil servants are allowed to leave with their status vehicles provided they provide the appropriate monetisation.

luvinhubby:
Long & short of the story....You made away with govt property after leaving office, govt sent it's people to recover their property in your custody for the incoming govt official to use, what is the noise for?
Crime / Re: Graphic Photos: Hotel Worker Allegedly Tortured To Death By Police In Benin by homu88: 10:02am On Mar 17, 2015
Notorious Benin Division of NPF...
It would be sad if no one is brought to book for inflicting this level of torture on a suspect.
As usual the Police PRO would come out with the same press statement saying that an investigation would commence. It would then take ages to come out with the same crap while the perpetrators live to repeat this same incident at another time.
I think his family should sue the NPF.
May his soul rest in peace.. AMEN
Business / Re: Drive With Fake Licence, Go To Jail by homu88: 12:40pm On Dec 02, 2014
I blame FRSC for making the correct process needed to get the driver's license cumbersome and unnecessarily difficult. I spent over 3 months going to FRSC office in Calabar demanding for my data to be captured after making the necessary payments. Took several excuses from work to travel to Calabar to check if my data capture could be done. All my attempts at doing the right thing was futile. A colleague laughed at me and paid double the amount and handed his details to someone and got his drivers license in one week.

The Nigerian system has made it difficult for people who want to do the right thing. And we call our leaders corrupt. VIO should sanitize the process before they start threatening toothless jail time.

Best wishes in your studies.

Got to the embassy @ 6:30am, got screened and I saw an underG boy without experience. I began to interview him. He failed my questions and I wasn't too happy with him.
A black lady in window 1 denied all the 5 persons that went to her plus the guy I interviewed myself.
It was my turn to go to her and I said loudly that the guy beside me heard that, God, let the spirit of denial melt when I get to her. Who says God doesn't answer prayers? Check the interview below;

Me: Good Morning Ma
VO: You are Ajjjj .....,
ME: Corrected her as she was calling my name like an aboki
VO: Why are you going to the US?
ME: For a masters degree in safety management program
VO: why did you choose 'your school'?
ME: pardon (didn't hear her well)
VO: How many schools did you apply to?
ME: 5 schools, 3 in US, 1 in Canada, and 1 in Finland. I mentioned those schools to her
VO: Did any of them reject you?
ME: not really, just that I am yet to get a supervisor for one US school and the Canadian school
VO: Why choose your school?
ME: I choose my school because their curriculum aligns with my intended course of study
VO: How does the curriculum aligns with it?
ME: well, I have been in close relationship with my intended advisor, professor ***
VO: (cuts in) you went to the US to see him?
ME: NO, via mail and phone calls. So, I questioned him about the courses that would be taken when I get down and I was able to appreciate measurement and instrumentation as an aspect of my course
VO: when did you graduate?
ME: in 2010
VO: From where?
ME: Oba awon uni, here in Nigeria
VO: What have you been doing since you graduated?
ME: I have been working with AAA as an EEE Engineer
VO: What do you mean by EEE?
ME: I explained to her with the highest level of gesticulation
VO: You said you are going for Safety Management and your I-20 seems to have an issue because I can see here that it is an MBA that you will be majoring in?
ME: I saw that myself when I got the I-20 and I mailed the office of international service complaining to them. I have a copies of the correspondence with me here
VO: Let me see it
ME: handed over to her and she glanced like this guy too sharp for me to denie ooo
VO: how do you plan to fund your education?
ME: My elder sister will support me
VO: Why your elder sister?
ME: She has been supporting me since the demise of our father in the year 2002
VO: what does she do?
ME: she works with Total naija as a network admin
VO: what will you do when you come back to naija?
ME: I will work as a consultant to major industries especially the oil and gas firms. I can also work as a safety engineer or Manager
VO: Are you married?
ME: No
VO: Do you have friends in the US?
ME: No! The ones I have are done with their academics and are back here in Naija
VO: We will issue you a Visa
ME: I no hear anything again as I don break jinx for the rest.

Many Thanks to God. No document was asked except for the one I let her check. I took the GRE, TOEFL, and had a bag full of documents.

I also signalled at the guy beside me to confirm to him that I got the visa approved.

Hello house... I have a quick question.

Its stated on my I-20 that my dad is my sponsor, but I intend to attach my personal account with my dads statement of account for the visa interview. Must the full proof of sponsorship come from the Sponsor as stated on the I-20 or can I add to the funds by using my personal account?

Read this story on another site and I think we really need to put the word out there that Nigeria is indeed Ebola free. This would stop foreigners from harassing our international travellers (students)

MrRoYCe:
Congrats to everyone that got their Visa approved

Hello House... Please what are the benefits of using WES services to evaluate your transcripts... How necessary is it and how can one pay for the process to be done? Thanks

VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning Sir
(I passed my documents to the VO. He looked at them and typed a few things on his keyboard.)
VO: I see you’re going to XYZ University. Why XYZ University?
Me: XYZ have a prestigious engineering faculty and they offer good research opportunities. The electrical engineering faculty and they offer a course that I am interested in.
VO: (cuts in) what course again?
Me: Advanced Power Systems Design and Analysis
(I have been working as a power plant engineer so I expected him to ask about power systems or what I have been doing since I graduated but instead he goes)
VO: can I see your grades?
(I passed my University degree and transcripts = 3.9/5)
VO: Do you have your WAEC?
Me: Yes Pls (I passed the WAEC result laminated. Before he started looking at my result scripts, I added). I also have the results of my standardized tests.
VO: let me have them. (I passed my GRE and TOEFL results…. GRE = 305, TOEFL=105. He looked at them and asked me to hold on. Then he walked in with my GRE and TOEFL printout plus my WAEC. I applied for a Master’s degree. I was wondering why my WAEC result was requested for in the first instance and why he left my original degree certificate on his desk. He returned after 2 minutes, looks at my I-20 and asks)
VO: Who is Mr. ABC?
Me: He is my father and is sponsoring my education.
VO: Can I see his statement pls. (I passed it to him)
VO: Where did you get this from?
Me: It was given to me by my father (he looks at it and types further then he went for the white paper).
VO: I’m sorry but you’re not ready to go to the US at this time. The reasons are stated in that form.
Me: (I smiled at him and said) Thank you. (Then I packed my documents and walked out.)

I have read many pages in this thread especially part 5 and VOs give applicants benefit of doubt before denying them visa. I had authentic documentation and good scores. I believe I wasn't given any opportunity to explain anything. He didn't ask me about what I have been doing since I graduated or any questions about my school.
I want VOs in the house to read my transcript and help me with any flags as I have to show a change in my current position during my next application.
Thanks

What is it with the recent trend in administrative processing at the embassy..? esp for F1 visas...
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by homu88: 11:18am On Aug 20, 2014
I have been an ardent follower of this thread and I encourage everyone here especially the major contributors for their efforts and assistance. I have a question pls. As part of the supporting documents required for F1 Visa interview (my father is my sponsor in this instant), is it necessary to have a letter of support from my Father to accompany his bank statement? (I have already sent an affidavit of support letter from my sponsor to my school before I was given admission)
