Wait first, Emirates flight is like 30+ to 41 hours, depending on the one you book? Arik is begining to look desirable; Last time I used it, it was a 1hour delay at MMA but it was okay. Downside was some of the entertainment system weren't working; the one for my seat inclusive and on my return flight, the guys drinking at the bar no gree person sleep, 1 of them got drunk. Other than that my flight was smooth >_<

wow! that's cool. My school is actually in North West, DC but I'm not cut out for the rent and life in DC. I want to stay in Maryland. I don't mind a 30-40mins commute. I'll keep looking, I'm positive I'll find something.

@Honey, so how long did ur passport stay at the embassy? I was approved on tuesday andi went to DHL yesterday but was told not
ready, tracked it, saying passport still at the US consulate.
I did mine on 15th of July. You should send a mail to support-nigeria @ ustraveldocs . com they will tell you exactly where your passport is. Mine stayed 4working days at the embassy before it was sent to DHL.

So passport was in DHL since last week and ttaveldocs tracking site is showing that my passport is still in the embassy.

When your passport is available at selected location you will receive an email that your passport is “Ready for Pick Up”.
Passport Tracking Options.
For your convenience, you can track the location of your passport Instant anytime at this website:
http://ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-passportretrieve.asp#passportcollect.
Enter your passport number to check on the status.
If your status shows "origination scan", it means your passport has left the U.S. Embassy and is transit to the delivery location you have chosen. It is however not available yet.
Only when the status shows "ready for pick up", it means you can go to the VFS Global Document Collection Center you have chosen to pick up your passport.
Please do not go to your delivery location if your status does not show "ready for pick up" as it means your passport has not reached its final destination for pick up.
You can go with the aforementioned identity.
Thanks.
Wow. Thanks a lot. One last question, how long did it take for yours to be available. I just checked and my passport still dey embassy. I had my interview on Wednesday the 15th of July and I plan to travel first week of August.

Anybody travelling with Lufthansa or Airfrance? What are the fares like? Are there cheaper airlines? My school is in DC but my POE will be JFK and I plan to leave for DC by bus or train the day after I arrive. Do I need to book my ticket from NY to DC here in nigeria? I plan to do that when I get to NY.

Hello guys, I plan to live in Maryland. Close to the metro. I'm looking at Either Silver Spring or College Park. But its like most of the rentals in college park give preference to UMD students.
Please can you give me pointers? My budget is 550$, all utilities included.

Supporting Documents
To collect your passport you must present your original (not a photocopy) government-issued photo ID. also bring a printed copy of your appointment letter and sum of 4,000. I collected mine with a valid tax clearance ID.
Were you sent an email that said your passport has arrived DHL Port Harcourt? Also if I go without original, they will not give me my passport? Cos my ECOWAS passport is the only valid ID I have, but I have a photocopy of it and a temporary voters card.

USnobeparadise:
Is there anyone that had his or her passport pickup location in Port Harcourt? What was your experience there and did they require valid photo ID? because in my case the only valid photo ID which I have is my ECOWAS passport which is held by them. But if they may require photocopy of my passport that will be easier.
Yeah, me too. I have an expired drivers license plus photocopy of my passport I hope that's legit enough for them. You pay 4k while collecting it, right?

Where is your school?

Rent is generally expensive in the DMV area. But as a student, you should get something cheaper. Try using Tor browser for craigslist, and make sure to rent with a student like you..you don't want stories that touch
my school is in Washington DC. But I dont want to live in the city tho, i'm looking at Maryland but close to the metro. I found something cheaper on Craigslist for 550monthly, all utilities included. Its a Newly finished basement apartment, I got my friend to look at it. She lives in Maryland so she knows what is obtainable. Thanks.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 7 by HoneyBronzed: 1:13am On Jul 18, 2015
Hey guys, please does anybody know about rent in the DC or MD area? I found a place for 707$ all utilities included except WiFi. Its actually a 3bedrroom/2bath shared apartment. I'm looking out for sth cheaper tho. Any thoughts?

Secondly, how do I get access to CraigList? My IP is blocked. I already sent them an email, yet nothing

Visa approved today in Abuja. 9am appointment. There was this black woman who was taking the interview like project defence. Someone said he was going to study information technology, she said he should explain the mechanism of the Internet. Oga come fall hand. She now aske him what he studied, Oga said Political Science, she said 'oh really, i studied political science". LMAO! <insert mortal kombat "Finish Him!">, who is your favorite political science author. Oga say na Aristotle. Lmho!

I missed her being interviewed by her by the whiskers. Thank God for everything, for my interview. It had to be God. I wasn't asked many questions.

Me: Good afternoon
Him: hey good afternoon, pass your documents
(Passes docs)

Him: I see you are going for studies, which course are you going for?
Me: Electrical Engineering
Him: where will you be studying?
Me: Howard University in Washington DC.
Him: why Howard?
Me: HU is research intensive and it caters to my area of interest Power Systems and Control
Him: is that what you did in your undergraduate study?
Me: yes
Him: where?
Me: calls my Nigerian undergraduate uni
Him: did you take GRE?
Me: hands over the test scores
Him: wow. Good.
Him: I see you've been to the US
Me: yes, was there for Christmas last year.
Him: yay! Good for you. Merry Christmas ( in my mind I was asking what's doing this man, biko)
Him: do you have financial aid?
Me: Yes. 35grand from my school
Him: who pays the rest of the 10 grand?
Me: I have some savings and my dad.
Him : what does your dad do?
Me: lists Father's occupation
Him: nice! good for your dad.
Types for 5minutes and I started praying in tongues quietly and asking in my mind what kind of essay is this man typing.
Your visa has been approved. Hands me collection form and Starts I-20 and POE lecture. End!

If you are going there , compose yourself and please pray, biko pray. Its not of him that willeth. I had some discrepancies in mY name, and in bank statement. I asked God to biko cover my errors, let them not ask me for any document. He did! Glory to God!

VO passed my i-20 to me without my passport and was typing oo (for my mind I know e don pure ),he now brought out the pick-up letter and circled a location there that I should pick my Visa there. I said thank you Sir and I bounced out lol.

You only see the "first available date" there, but when you 'really' want to book for the interview, you can then pick any other date (just like your GRE & TOEFL). That "June 23..." is the closest/first available date out of all other dates.
Hope it helps smiley
Yes it did! Thanks a lot.
