Travel / Re: Nigeria Gets US Visa Priority Attention With Brazil & China by honiye(m): 11:30am On Aug 30, 2012
I once read a report from U.S dept of state that Lagos U.S visa office receives over 100,000 applications monthly and thats why there is delay in visa processing.
You can imagine what the U.S is earning on monthly bases from one of the poorest countries in the world.

Thats a country who is desperate about improving its national economic standard.

Now calculate 100,000 X 140USD ($140 is the lowest visa processing fee) = 14,000,000USD, then covert to naira with the current exchange rate.
on monthly bases from lagos visa office alone not to talk of abuja.
Tell why why they wont prioritize Nigeria when they know what comes as revenue for them in this so-called poor country.
They simply scammed us more than the yahoo boys scammed them.

Sorry for you Nigerians, most of the applications are from desperate youths who want to go for greener pastures; the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer

CrazyMan: Because Nigerian girls are materialistic.
Is not the fault our ladies, poverty has elongated their throat, they prefer a plate of rice & bbq chicken at KFC than to "Climb up the nearest hill and watch the sunset together". They don't just give a damn about any love expression that will not add to their stomach or leave some notes in their pockets, that's why we have lot of obese ladies in our environments.

NAIRALAND now S-U-C-K-S, Is now full of unserious posters and childish topics. Some topics are not worth being on the frontpage, it gives me the perception that the moderators and the website managers are not business minded. Please go back to drawing board, employ professional editors who will proof-read postings effectively before putting them on frontpage. Craps (what is my business with the guy that pee in the public, that is the problem of his spouse or admirers?)

This is so sad, is it a crime to be a christian? I actually cried this morning reading the story of the Deeper life church attack in okene. We now in live in a country where people are killed for serving God and believing in what they believe. This is sad and the so called CAN are not doing anything, they keep calling on the government that has failed to help them. I think at this point, they should go for plan B, the church should defend themselves, this govt has failed them, the church has the duty of protecting lives of worshippers. Christians should come together and defend themselves.

F*ck the Boko Harams, we christians can never be intimidated for no reason, we serve the almighty God, the God of war, mighty in battle, we don't have to fight for him, he can do that himself. Any religion that say anyone who doesnt follow their religion should be killed is of the devil and darkness, and darkness can not prevail over light. Christian should arm themselves in self defence to resist these devils.

Politics / Jonathan’s Youwin Programme, Another Deliberate Hoax? by honiye(m): 10:21pm On Feb 20, 2012
The so much hyped Goodluck Jonathan’s YouWin project initiated to empower 3,600 Nigerians over 3 years with up to N10 million naira each, who will in-turn employ 100,000 many more, has been postponed in what sources say is a move by the Presidency to manipulate the outcome of the programme.

A check on the YouWin project website www.youwin.org.ng reveal that February 19, 2012 which was previously set as the date for notification of winners has been changed to an indefinite date in March, and a flimsy clause was inserted as the reason for the postponement. Hopeful participants have also indicated that they have not received any winning notification or invitation so far from the organizers.

The initial arrangement was to notify winners of the competition on February 19, 2012, and then commence validation of winners and subsequent disbursement of funds through participating banks, but with the new development, that arrangement is farfetched. The organizers now prefer to validate the winners before announcing them. It would be noted that participants were actually validated using biometrics technology at the time of training. It is quite unclear whom or what the organizers are now validating since none of the actual participants has been invited for the “new” validation exercise.

Many observers and participants (both international and local) believe that the YouWin project is actually a major (if not the final) test of Nigerians’ trust on the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan, especially on his non-interference policy and commitment to fighting corruption and dealing with the unemployment situation ravaging the nation. Participants have already started expressing their disappointments and skepticisms especially at government’s lack of respect of their time and effort committed to the project.

1,200 finalists are expected to be selected from the 6,000 participants invited for training in the 6 geo political zones in the country. Participants had eagerly awaited the notification emails on Sunday, February 19, 2012, as initially scheduled by the organizers after evaluating their business plans. According to the initial selection process, 300 countrywide best business plans would be selected, and then another 150 best from each of the 6 geo political zones would be selected, to make up the 1,200. But with the recent inconsistency by the organizers highly suspected to be the result of a compromise, the YouWin project is now in question.

The government and the EDC handling this program should be more transparent in the selection process to avoid reactions like this from the media/people.

I think EDC the body handling this initiatives should be more transparent with the process and be specific in their decision to avoid issues of distrust in the whole process.

Bro, I think you can give it a try if you have a networth that can convince the immigration officer enough that you have something at stake here in Nigeria that will make you come back when you are through with your program.

That is the simple thing most of applicants make at the interview point that makes them fail.
