The issue is that no South East town or city has a sizeable proportion of Yorubas that can make them contest elections. The few Yorubas that live in the South East don't settle fully unlike Igbos that live in Lagos. Those few Yorubas don't participate in local politics in the places where they live in the South East, so why will they hold political offices?
The Igbos that contest in Lagos are card carrying members of Lagos PDP or APC. They have a right to contest elections there, and they have a large population of their people to vote for them. Mind you, they are not asking that they should be appointed into positions. They are only exercising their right to vote and be voted for.
If a Yoruba man lives in Enugu over many years and feels he has become popular enough, he can buy form for House of Reps or State House of Assembly and contest. Nobody will stop him. The only issue is that he won't likely win, cos he won't have enough Yorubas around to vote for him.
It's only in Lagos Igbos contest elections outside Igbo land and it's because they know they have the population there.
Also, if a man from Osun State can contest elections in Lagos, then a man from Enugu state should also be able to do that. Don't tell me Osun and Lagos are both Yorubas states so it doesn't matter, because Oyo State can never allow an Osun man be their governor, neither can a man from Ogun State contest and win major elections in Ekiti State.
