malmo:

Why not go through the land border , get to usa and travel by bus to Canadian border via New York though maybe stressful .

Travel / Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Hotstepper(f): 9:21pm On Oct 18, 2019
I do not want to believe that drs r not picking up calls because it is a Nigerian no and I am not the only onr helping ooo.

For example Some people said they have found a dr but wont disclose until they are finished and done yet there are people who needs it now to use for application.

I know for the sake of people couple of months ago, I called nd few that said yes but they want the patient to be in Canada before they book an appointment. I think these drs do now want their names on visa applications.

Atleast make these ppl ask the drs they have if they book appointment even if the person is not in the country.

you seens to be yhe only one making efforts sef lookkng for dr nd hospital which is not fair...others should help as na everyone need this info.

Lankesolanke:
Her help is very vital..majority are not picking calls from Nigeria..there are a lot of doctors but none picked calls from Nigeria..I had to send their numbers to my friend in Canada to help do the call..pls whoever can be of help should pls be of help..just let people to volunteer to help so at least it won’t be just you helping everyone here..the ones that can’t find doctors or hospitals can come to you while the ones that have can send their numbers to someone in Canada who is willing to help them call the hospitals..
Travel / Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Hotstepper(f): 8:54pm On Oct 18, 2019
Thank you for your willingness to but I do not think thats the kind of help they need as I believe they can call from Naija. The major problem is having in hand drs that take international parients, hopsital and how to get correspondence

Masha2jk:
Hello mamas, so I use to be on the USA tread and it really helped with my 1st son. And yes I posted my experience.I follow this tread as well and a lot of mummies don’t give back. Now to the mummies that need somebody in Canadian to help call hospitals in Ontario with Canadian number,I will help as many as I can as I am jobless( maternity leave) but I take God beg you it is help o! Am not responsible for looking for anything for you. Send me hospital/doc no I will call and find out what you need. And post it back here. Have a blessed day.

u do not appear for Canadian visa..if u apply and they want to givr u, they send u an email yo send you passport with in detail.

Dont allow agent grammer confuse u. apply by yourself if you can

quote author=Amalahajames post=83253191]Please house, is there anything like non appearance visa for Canada application..

If people wont declear, they will be wastijg money coming nd then sent back or renewing will be war.

We have to think outside the box I think or take the risk of tourism......use your discretion

Malevonent:

Ok thanks, this is our first child.
This canadian issh, is sure getting dicey.
If you declare medical, you would be asked for doc+gospital correspondence....which is impossible to get.
You dont declare medical, and somehow suceed, you may have issues at POE again.
This would push many into not declaring

You have to use a hospital affiliated to the dr u will be using as that hospital, thus it was advised here to go to hospital website nd find drs or once u book an appt with a dr, ask them which hospital they are affiliated with.

Yes, u can put the info in ur LOE but they need more than that as they dont have time to call dr or hospital to confirm the info you have provided in your LOE .

Lankesolanke:
For clarity’s sake pls
If I put a call to a doctor and he responds and we fix an appointment without email correspondence
How do I input it to my application
Should I give the details of appointment in my letter of explanation??
Also..must the doctor be affiliated with the hospital??
How much in dollars is ok to prove to the embassy one is capable of birth tourism??
Thank you!
Travel / Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Hotstepper(f): 11:10pm On Oct 17, 2019
The cost of birthing in Alberta is that much and can go as high as 20k so u have to make sure u have more than that amount.

For the purpose of medical visa, u have to get both drs and hospital quote and some form of evidence for the officers to see nd not just putting figures in ur LOE.

If you apply for tourist visa, 1 or 2 things might happen which is i think is happening alot now

1. u will be called by the embassy to ask if you are preggy
2. turned bk at the aiport in Canada.
3. you might be lucky

All the best

Laurieuc:
Hello my people!!!

Hope you are all doing well?

I am currently preparing my documents for my visa application, but getting a doctor's appointment for Calgary hasnt worked out yet..its actually a bit confusing...

I put a call to 2 hospitals in SW Calgary and what i am getting is that they dont accept out of pocket patients.

I also called a number i got for Peter lougheed hospital for NW Calgary, they accept cash patients but say you have to be in Canada to get an appointment? And even said the cost is 15k CAD

So how will i now get a doctor's appointment for the purpose of visa application.

Abi i should just apply for a tourist visa or just a regular visiting visa? And indicate that i will be birthing my baby in the LOE?

Please gurus in the house, kindly help out...

Yes that is what it means.....Hospitala r independent of drs here....u only go to the hospital wen u r in labour or emrgency. Anyother issue gynea attends to u in his/her office outside of the hospital. It is a totally diff. from Naija set up.

So POE, u will be asked of ur Dr's information

Lankesolanke:
Hmmm,so even if I register with them no doctor will check me ,it means they are only admitting me for delivery..how does this work?..so if arrive Canada early the hospital won’t do any check up ,they are only booking me for delivery
Is that what this means
Travel / Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Hotstepper(f): 11:33am On Oct 09, 2019
na straifhr forward statement.

It means assuming labour starts while coming from the airport and u land at the hospital, any dr that is on call/duty at that time will deliver ur baby.

But if u will be seeing dr for antenatal then u have to find ur own dr for that.

I hope this helps

The amount qouted is for dr and hospital feea as stated and given to her by both

Otokini01:
Thank you for this post, I am in the same birth window as you. The prices you put here for the whole process was it what the doctor you are using sent to you? Cos it's quite expensive from what we have been seeing here and also is it like a private clinic or govt runned

Resident mean u live in Canada and non resident means u do not live here aka International patients

Lankesolanke:
Pls can anyone explain what the resident or no resident means pls..thank you
Travel / Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Hotstepper(f): 1:28pm On Oct 05, 2019
You will still.need some kind of drs appointment nd have an idea of dr's fee so.find one who can take int. patient associated.with the hospital od ur choice as hoapital nd dr r independent of eachother. Well done

Lankesolanke:
Not at all,it doesn’t say it’s for letter of acceptance ..they explained they accept International Patient, sent all the bills ..will ask them further questions where I don’t understand..I like the method tho..waiting for other responses before I settle for one

Congratulations

Travel / Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Hotstepper(f): 6:36pm On Oct 04, 2019
If you want to use for visa processing, the embassg expects a breakdown of both dr nd hospital so both arw important at an initaly stage.

BC is very expensive province nd I know someone who had a baby there last year paid 18k nd now she is preggy nd coming to GTA area

Bluefin:
The thing is I am already comfortable with the doctor and I don’t want to change. My dear you know how it is now..,. Also wanted a female OBygn so honestly it’s easier for me to just stick to her She just joined the Hospitals practice from another province this year so I’m her first non-resident. But there are several other doctors in the practice that I’m sure have rolled with non resident moms who have registered in the hospital. I promise to share my doctor after my delivery.

I think if you are outside canada, instead of looking for a doctor, look for a hospital that will accept international patients. This is the best thing. Hospital gives you everything you need. At least the package they gave me and the international agent assigned to me, we had lists of emails and if I needed a visa I could use that as my correspondence also please don’t look for the kind of correspondence US doctors give. I remember what my friends who came to have babies in New Jersey had last year and I doubt that any doctor in canada will give you such.

St Mikes said no to international maternity thinks he other one was sunny brook or something can’t remember, I think it was one vaughn I’ll have to look in my email.

I almost settled for British Columbia(Vancouver) because a lot of hospitals there are very open to international patients. A good example is providence health who even go ahead and list the possible accommodation places and give discount for this.international moms can consider BC because there is alot of birth tourism there and the province and doctors there are very open to non resident patients.

Travel / Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Hotstepper(f): 6:34pm On Oct 04, 2019
People has been running from Calgary cuz it is btw 15 to 18k nf u know our ppl cant or wont wanna pay such

Bluefin:

I think some moms here in the past years mentioned peter lougheed. Please search for it and contact them.
Foothills
Rocky view are also hospitals you van check. Hospitals were not responsive but you can search myiud women’s clinic- they work with rocky view and I believe they have cash paying options/uninsured patients even on their website.
Travel / Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Hotstepper(f): 6:33pm On Oct 04, 2019
please if a hospital is giving you something like their bill.maybe via email, please let una try and use that hospital. I always tell ppl to look to shop for drs as hospital rate is standars for all but drs fees diff by each dr.

Lankesolanke:
Sure, will do so once I am done researching, will share names of hospitals that have emails too..willing to do all that..let me finish first sha grin

Travel / Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Hotstepper(f): 4:22pm On Oct 04, 2019
Good u did alot of work which alot of our brothera and sisters do not want to do, just want tk be given to them.

Bluefin:
I was in canada when I scheduled my first appointment. I was outside canada when I found the doctor and sent them an email. I was also outside canada when they sent me the hospital brochure. Also like I explained, email is the best. Also I don’t think sharing your nationality matters when making enquiries. Just say international patient cash paying patients. Once they see nigeria on an email they assume some scam is about to happen.

With the information I provided above. Google that hospital and contact the international patients billing( they also have a form) they will respond and what they give you u believe has all the information you can use to show correspondence. And financial ability.

Thank you for sharing. Without looking down to see the bill breakdown, I already knew it is McKenzie Health at Richmondhill. I also do not think the dr would mind even if though you are her 1st patient cuz Nigerians will tell u even the drs fee is high. lol

It is hard to find dr that takea international patients nd if u get to find one, they prefer patients who are in Canada already and it is almost impossible to find a dr that will give u some kind correspondence, this I feel they do not want theit name in visa applications and all.

May u tell us the namea of the hospitals u likes in Toronto? If u r willing to change nd still here to walk in, he charges 3500 for all visits before and after cuz I can see ur own dr is on the high side plus the consultation fee nd all.

Bluefin:
This is the best way to search for hospital/Dr for those asking.
Google hospitals in the province that you want to deliver.
Check on the différent websites of the hospital. There is a section that has find a physician
Select OBYGYN/Maternal/new born care
Most hospitals will have the names of all physicians in that department and should say yes or no if accepting patients.
If accepting patients, google the doctor to find their office.
Email the doctors office and let them know you are an international patient and need to find out what the doctors registration process is
You can also call but email is more effective. They will send you a brochure for the hospital that will have all the information you need or tell they do not accept non Canadian residents.
Keep searching until you find someone that is interested in cash paying international patients.
Another very fast way if you dont really care about gender or qualification of doctor is to reach out to the international patients email(usually stated on the hospitals website) they will reply you with brochure.

During my research and doctors choice, i was lucky that the first doctor i contacted did not mind accepting me and luckily i was in canada at the time so i went it for my first trimester appointment ( I am a US Citizen) but currently on a work project in the GTA area and want to get Canadian passport so the baby can have both US and Canada.

Look at hospitals that are outside Toronto because i noticed that the two main hospitals i liked inside Toronto clearly stated on their website that they do not take non Canadian residents for maternal treatment. One thing to note is that there is a list of compulsory tests for Ontario pregnant ladies- Just google it if your doctors office doesn't send it in the package and come with those tests so you are less risk for a doctor who wants to take you on and that you dont waste money extra on doing the tests.

Please note that i will not be sharing my doctor until i deliver because she knows i am her first cash paying patient and it will just be obvious. Happy to share hospital if moderator allows. You can google it and contact international patients billing. They will send everything. I was told that i can see the same doctor for my tests and exams, but once i go into labor i will be seen by whichever doctor in the practice is on call but that doctor will have access to my medical records since all the doctors are in the same network.

-Hospital Deposit- $7800. They will return any unused amount to you.
-Mother per night $2900 (private) (a night is anything above 8 hours after initial visit) There are cheaper options like ward, semi private etc
-Baby per night/Nursery $1,300
-ICU- $3600
-Doctors Fee- $4200
-Hospital Location, Richmond Hill, ON

PS: The doctor has a $200 initial consultation fee, second visit is 100 and i then $80 per visit after that. None of all these fees include any tests or laboratory fees, surgical, anesthetic, assistant Pediatrician or NICU fees. Doctor is in Thornhill, ON

You must submit a hospital package (form), register and make all deposits prior to 35 weeks so i am assuming they wont accept patients beyond this week.

Please do not send me any personal message. If you have any question, bring it here and I will answer. My birth window is Feb/March and if there is anybody that is in this window and wants to go on the journey together and network, please feel free and we can all make this thread useful. I will be on a project in the middle east between Mid-October and December and iIwill go to Canada finally in my 34th week.

For accommodation, i will be staying at Premier (i selected markham on the site or Mary-am, i selected markham also). Google them and book a stay in the area you want. They will respond within 24 hours to let you know you are booked but cannot be confirmed till 2-3 weeks before your estimated stay.

Please i truly dont know anything about visa application. This is what i can share/ give back for now.

If there is anybody that has process for Long Birth Certificate and Passport application. God bless you as you share.

Thank you very much. Also, people are now coming to Canada cuz they were refused US Visa nd yet the ones that got information here do not come back to give bk. Hotstepper cannot do it alone as I have given all relevant information I can think of

Lankesolanke:
The difference btw the Canada thread and USA thread is that we do not have enough gurus compared to the USA thread.the only one who seem to be active is trying her best and of course it’s not really an easy job to help everyone in this thread so why not monetize it..
It boils down to people not coming back to discuss their experiences
We hope those of us coming now will be better and willing to grow the thread regardless of what method was used to get the visa

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

1. You will have to log into Canada immigration website and fill the application form online or you do paper one.

2. You will need to search for Dr that takes international patient if you want to apply for a medical visa.

3. Gather your documents and apply

I hope this helps

That ia the way it works..they dont give u everything so it is as u have mentioned

jhoci:
Just to add to this, I only got part of my living expense allowance at the start of the semester. Also, only a semester portion of my tuition fee has been paid. The balance will be paid in January at the start of the 2nd semester and I'll also get the balance of my living expenses then. I don't know if this is because I'm receiving the aid from Alberta and studying in Ontario, or if it's based on the structure of the academic program. But I like the feeling of looking forward to another payment in January grin

I hope this ur answer is not pointing at me. I have not asked anyone to contact me.It is the responsibility of ppl like u who come to give birth to give feed bk or even reaearxh for drs so ppl.will.havs more options.

I remember one or 2 ppl asked about dr in Calgary. Nobody said anything for a long time. I replied saying i will do.some.calls which i did by googling nos nd calling nd also asked few 2 ppl i know in Calgary nd they said their dr is not taking.

My point is that Hotstepper is nobody"s problem.I cannot be proactive wen I am.not the one in need of the information and people who will do little or nothing.

And I.will.keep.saying it, Canada is not like US.as health systema differ. In Canada u will have to a lot difficulty gettinf a dr nd the ones i did get, what happened? People came and spoilt it nd they stopped.

As I mentioned ealier nd i tell people, go bk to NL nd find information but if I am going to.do that research then i will.charge for it, it is that simple. If u know like am, do it urself.

And I.will continue to say google is ur friwnd esp on this thread that is still growing as Nigerians wants to be spoonfeed. If u ask a question and nobody answers, it is likely nobody knowa it then why not use google..if to.use google.to reaearch about stupid things like BBN, then we become experts.

Have a nice day nd plz.encourage ur fellow people to give back
Bluefin:

That is exactly the point. On the USA thread, people post their experiences because they do not want anything in return. When people bring questions here it is not for us to say contact me directly etc. AS SOMEONE WHO HAS THAT EXPERIENCE THEY SHOULD POST IT. If WE cannot do so for free because you went and researched someones question, please dont post response asking to be contacted. Also kindly stop telling people google is your friend etc. It chases a lot of people from here. In the USA thread people who ask to be connected to directly are people who are either planning to share apartments or have something in common like state of birth. Again this is not a jab at ANYONE in anyway. But if anyone wants to be charging people money to respond to questions on a public forum, the forum is no longer public and now a private venture. Hence the slow movement on this thread.
