It is pretentious and educated parents who do this in my own experience. My father was one of them very pretentious and i must say it is embarrassing for me, to tell a fellow Nigerian i can't speak a language, not one. My dad was one of those who thought being oyinbo like was fantastic, i don't totally blame him his mother was a huge snob, very well educated but my family is very academic and belong to that academic snobby class of people. Which is probably why i was always the black sheep. i don't agree with class,i hate everything it stands for. Well that is my experience and really it shames me. Another thing is the colonial mentality and how some of our parents can not shake this.Hopefully things would turn around in the next generation because many young people are on the same sort of wave length in this global village we live in.

Sigh! what really is the fear? what is the big fear that as soon as homosexual is mentioned seemingly intelligent people become so small in their minds? I would like to ask the poster ''do you really think what defines your morality defines mine?'' or anybody elses? Every law across the world is born out of religions,to control people and although without laws there would be anarchy, i still think all this is control in the name of morality etc. I respect other's religion i have to say, i also like other to respect my views too. It really is not right that people of faith would want everyone to live by their own standards, its crazy to expect it.

Seriously guys there is really nothing to be afraid of about homosexuals, infact all the negativity you generate from your disapproval surely must play havoc with your soul don't you think?

Ok my question is who measures morality? everyone has a different morality from the next person and what if the person doing the one night stand is not religious?

I am going to play devil's advocate now. Ok what makes it wrong? is it morality? religion that has given us a morality gauge? bearing in mind that maybe just maybe religion was designed to control.what is wrong with it really. Are we really meant to be monogamous beings? I'm just saying!

I hear you. Still from my experience my close friends have non existent relationships with their dads and it's just been my observation that, that is the reason for their failed relationships or serial dating. Like you said some fathers just give money and what do we see these days? lots of girls want to date guys for money etc.

yep. When it becomes a habit they there is a serious problem. May even need therapy or something. You know what? i stand by this,if girls are brought up by their fathers toloveand respect themselves alot of girls wont go looking for it in random guys.The relationship a girl has with her dad tells alot in how she turns out.

Yes that is always very likely but my thing is you only have yourself to blame.This is why i was unsympathetic to some friends in this situation. From experience many of us ladies do not separate sex from emotions. We some how can't divide the two.That is why though some girls will say they don't care about one night stands, they really do hurt afterwards

yep very unforgiving. I think that people can do what they want and i know this sounds corny but as long as you arenot hurting anyone and you are safe then whatever.

There's a lot wrong with One-night stand in my opinion, for a start there is the small matter of STD, if you are a lady it doesnt help your reputation at all

Nothing wrong as long as you keep it safe. For me its not what i would intentionally do,simply because i would only take it that far if i feel there is potential for a relationship,however if u meet someone and things happen and then it doesn't take off into a relationship i guess that is a one night stand.
