Please nlanders this is the second time my dog is coming on heat and I have never had the experience my other dogs are MALES, just got a female last yr so my doctor told me that I can mate but when she comes on heat I would have too wait 11 eleven days before mating he also said they come on heat twice or once a year.While my other doctor said I should wait till she is about 1 yr 3-4moths,CONFUSED !!!

I'm not bothered about what the op used to make his topic.

I'm concerned about the guy who called 80% of dogs here mongrels.

For all I care the op could have used anything to classify them...he didn't ask anyone to buy puppies. All he wanted was answers to questions, which most of us failed to see that point.

Many of you keep mute when newbies come here to ask questions and are the first to jump out to make a comment when someone is saying it wrong.

Technically, there are no 'legitimate' canine breeders in Nigeria, this is because there is no law regulating the industry yet, neither is there a robust database of purebred dogs. The Rottweiler, Boerboel and German Shepherd Dog associations/clubs in Nigeria derive their 'legitimacy' from foreign bodies.

What we do have in abundance are LOTS of Puppy Millers, Backyard breeders and a very few hobby breeders.

I go out of my way to explain to folks that I am not a breeder (though at no point in time do I own less than 8 purebred dogs at a time, and they have bred unauthorized before), I am an animal behaviorist & pet broker who happens to be a dog lover. The refusal of majority of dog owners to make this distinction is what has brought us to where we are.

So, are you a breeder, hobbyist, puppy miller or a puppy broker?
