this is one of the reasons why you shouldn't criticize entrepreneurs as it is obvious you are afraid to go into the real sector.
But i think it's high time people began to worry about this high interest rate for the bubble might eventually burst one day because all those interest has to come from somewhere
From Investopedia ;
'Government bonds can be issued by national governments as well as lower levels of government. At the national or federal level, these government bonds are known as “sovereign” debt, and are backed by the ability of a nation to tax its citizens and to print currency'.

And the current high rate is as a result of inflation and other factors. Expect a lower rate when the economy recovers from inflation. Our only fear and hope is that Nigeria should continue to be one entity, even during wars government borrows to fight the war effectively, else Treasury bills, treasury notes and treasury bonds still serve as a risk-free financial investment.

Treasury Bills or Mutual Fund, which is more profitable?
Mutual funds invest cash pulled together into treasury bills, govt and corporate bonds, stocks etc. If you factor in other costs incurred in running your investment with them, then treasury bills is more profitable and less stressful (lol).

Good day sir, please do expatiate on the part of the country one can get such returns on Keke business. Making reasonable profits from Keke business is largely dependent on the area you plying (aside trust issues). Thanks sir in anticipation

Super idea. Pls put more light on call deposit and how will I instruct my bank
Works similarly like Fixed deposit, the only major difference from FD is that you can withdraw your cash at any time without incurring FD charges for not holding on before end of your FD tenor. Also it's not a tenor-base deposit like FD. Profits on it ain't large, except you place large sums of money on CD(though you get to gain something on your money than leaving it in a savings account with its conditions for making profit).

How?
Simply walk into your bank and ask them you want to place your cash on call deposit ( Normal Fixed deposit paper, you only tick and fill the column for call deposit), and ask them to give you their call deposit rates ( For Stanbic bank, if you are observant enough you may likely see the rates of FD, CD and even Tbills on a T.V screen), it differs based on the amount you want to place on hold.

I can't find my paper that contains FD and CD rates for Stanbic. You could plead with the person in charge to give you a copy(As it ain't allowed for public consumption).

Normal simple interest calculation is used, only note that time is in day(s), over 365days.

Best Regards

@unite4real, grin is like you are a teacher . i understand you but can't FGN BOND go up or down ?
You didn't read his last post well... See the part that answers your question.

With Bond, you simply get a steady coupon payment for the duration. TB and Bond are equally good, only that you need to study the economic indices so as to know which of them will be appetizing per time.

In essence, it doesn't fluctuate like Tbills. It is fixed. Regards.

Guys, how secured are these t-bills/govt bonds.
Has any one invested over 10 Million Naira, and got his interest and capital back after the maturity date?

Hope the banks/govt do not come up with stories on the maturity date on how they cannot pay back the capital on the said date/or related stories that hurts?

Lastly, what is the difference between treasury bills and bonds. My basic understanding tells me bonds are debts. Are they issued at a higher rate than t bills?

Guys please i need your input/experiences
Your money is safe. Tbills is one if not the safest financial security out there, worst case scenario govt would just print excess money to pay up outstanding debt. Your interest is upfront and banks serve as medium or broker between you and the govt (CBN), that's why they charge you commission fees etc, they do not have access to your funds but the safe keeping house and govt. I stand to be corrected, govt have not defaulted since NTB inception. And you are borrowing the Nigerian govt in both instances, the duration and mode of payment is the only difference between them. Invest your 10m without fear, but pray against break up, war and the likes, that's what you should worry about lol. Regards
