PoliticsRe: Must The Nigerian Police Be Bribed For Everything? by Hugger: 2:38pm On Oct 23, 2008
Unilag is stylishly refusing to send my transcript. They have been telling me for the last week now that the thing is with the typist and she will send it when she finishes. I was even given a hint about how the typist might not be motivated to do the job quickly - which I took to mean that I should give her some motivation.
Meanwhile I have already deposited money in their account for the transcript to be sent by courier to my employer.

if Unilag does that, why wont the police do same?

Dont forget to get married to your laptop. That way, you wont have problems and you can control it as much as you want becasue you're unlikely to find a slave man from Nigeria and foreigners will only be interested in using you selfishly especially seeing as you have the mind of their own women so why bother getting you with your different skin and your kind of people who are different looking.

Why do you single out the Nigerian Police?
UNILAG is expecting a bribe from me just to send my transcript to the HR dept of my employers

The thread was started by someone who obviously has issues in life and wants the rest of the world to accept whatever she sees as being right.
She therefore employs insultive sarcasm to try and gain disciples.

some married ladies kept there fathers name for benefit purposes,if there fathers name is well known etc most of my married step-sisters kept my fathers name as it helps them socially and when seeking job, contracts in Nigeria etc.
as for me i took my husbands name after marriage.if i divorce God forbid,i have decided to still keep my married name because i want to have the same surname as my kids.

@hugger,nobody wishes for divorce when married but no body knows tomorrow, anything can happen if its meant to ,know matter how hard u try to prevent or stop it .
Is that what love is about?

I showed my husband what you wrote and this is his response. . . I quote.

"This person has no idea what they are talking about. If it is ridiculous, they shouldn't have a problem saying it is wrong. The fact that they have a problem saying it's wrong means it's not so ridiculous"

I hope it makes sense to you because me I'm just. . . https://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/confused/confused0024.gif
you are the one who has no idea what she is talking about. perhaps if you step back a little and think, you'll see a few other things. You pigeon hole people in your attempt to justify yourself and you say another doesn't know what they're talking. A person who designs a questionnaire with an expected result in mind is not conducting a research.

Interesting that you are not address my post here but bringing my post elsewhere to this place.
I am not such a man who is one-track minded. I like to consider each situation seperately. I don't have any fixed philosophies except the Bible.

the case of the man is a different case and I did not say he is the victim. I only said he felt pushed to do it. Do you know what the man earns? And, what makes it right for the woman to keep the children away from the man?
The man can't be a normal man for commiting murder but the woman conributed to sending him round the bend.

keep on your attempt to ensure that all women in Nigeria start living like western women who don't care a hoot about their husbands, except for mouth and public show.

Hugger:
This is rubbish. A woman is not a slave and I think this is written by a woman trying to make sure no woman accepts Biblical injunctions.
The bible does not say a woman is a slave but a help meet. The man needs the woman but he is the head of the family. There are roles for both husband and wife within a family.

For anyone to ridicule a good family set up and to imply that the woman who stays submissive is a fool is absolute nonsense. As someone stated, submission is not stupidity but acknowledgement that the man is head of the family. Submission also does not mean that the woman has no voice. The madness of the world is making too many people infer things and try proving things that are basically wrong.

My mother is submissive in our family and she is not a slave. She actually has a higher educational qualification than my dad because my dad was working in Northampton after his first degree while my mum did other studies and she was still working until recently. Getting these things right is important and there's no point in ridiculing it.

An attempt to destroy the basis of the family is what the poster is about.

If anyone choses to live without acknowledging the man as head of family, it's fine because each to their own. you don't have to use sinister means to try and make Nigerians follow the unsuccessful women's lib style of living.

This is not all about wealth, it is done all over the world, unlike me i kept my dad's name together with hubby's name, there is no need changing ur informationg completely as ur previews name still persist in all ur document.

what happens when u devoice?? u will have to change informations again from hubby name to surname. no one will ever call u mrs by ur surname but mrs by ur hubby's name.
On like where i live, they automatically keep ur surname in ur identity card as (((name of birth and hubby's name as mariter name)))) i think is really the best.
Are you marriedhuh
I didn't realise that one has to plan for divorce when planning for marriage. no wonder many marriages by people with these liberal and westernised minds dont work out in the long run- you already have at the back of your mind that you will divorce some day
FamilyRe: Ladies Who Hold On To Their Father's Surname In Marriage by Hugger: 12:30pm On Oct 22, 2008
This is a silly discussion. A man who takes such a thing important is not likely to get to the point of marriage with a woman who is nonchallant about it.
I think it's good for my wife to be Mrs. Hugger, not to still be miss maidenname. As much as I am not one for insisting on any such things, a woman who wants to stay as miss maden name should be allowed to be that way after her marriage but I also have a choice as to what kind of woman I marry
FamilyRe: A Racial-marriage Problem! by Hugger: 12:23pm On Oct 22, 2008
Maybe the man does not love her again. Women in Europe do that a lot. They stop loving their husbands and find another man but they dont like it when a man does it to them

The poll is also very subjective and does not make room for anyone to have a proper vote. Why must it be a choice between the ridiculous as suggested by the poster and saying it is wrong? Whichever way it turns out, it has already been designed to ridicule any system of thought that nigerians may have.

The title is not stupid. The woman drove him to it by trying to make sure he doesn't have access to his children and "Mrs Thomson was seeking a £50,000 payoff and £250 a week, the court heard."
EducationRe: Unilag Registry Expecting A Bribe To Send Trancript by Hugger(op): 11:58am On Oct 22, 2008
I have been in contact with the registry and it's one escuse or the other. This morning, the lady told me to call back again tomorrow saying that the transcript should be with the typist. She actually told me that, in Nigeria, people are not motivated enough and that is why the thing is so slow - is this a suggestion that a should help with the motivation? It's been several weeks over and above what they said is the normal time of getting the transcript back.
My boss and HR dept spoke to me about it and they are shocked that a University in Nigeria is so ridden with malpractice and inefficiency. I am actually become ashamed about the situation now.
EducationUnilag Registry Expecting A Bribe To Send Trancript by Hugger(op): 4:44pm On Oct 14, 2008
I am not even sure what to do again.
I attended Unilag many years ago and graduated from the dept of Indutrial Relations & Pers Mgt. Recently, my employers wanted to part-fund a Masters degree for me and I had to get my transcript from Unilag. My employers waived the transcript issue when I was employed but when the University requested my trancript, it became an issue again.

I applied to Unilag for the trascript and paid what they stated that I should pay at the bank into their account. I sent them copies of the teller and till date Unilag did not send my transcript. When I called, it was clear that they would not do anything till I send them a bribe. I am completely against bribing people to do their jobs although I dont mind giving gifts to people in appreciation for help rendered to me.

the academic session has already commenced and the Unilag registry has refused to send the requested transcript in spite of the fact that they know that this can affect my personal progress in life.

can anyone advise what to do please?

A father struggling to cope with the break-up of his marriage has admitted murdering two of his children in the former family home.

Robert Thomson, 50, knifed his children Michelle, 25, and Ryan, seven, a total of 26 times on 3 May in Buckhaven, Fife, before trying to kill himself.

The High Court in Edinburgh heard how their mother, June Thomson, discovered her children's blood-soaked bodies.

Thomson will be sentenced next month. He faces life in prison.

Judge Lord Menzies described the crime as "indescribably awful".

The court heard that Thomson had sent another son to a local supermarket, then knifed his son and daughter to death in the empty house.

His son Ross, 20, later returned with his girlfriend, Kay Wallace, and they went to his room to watch a DVD - unaware that the two bodies were lying in their bedrooms.

Thomson, worried by their on-going divorce proceedings, had left a suicide note urging June not to blame herself.

The couple had been married for 27 years. There had been a court hearing the day before the murders.

The Thomsons also have an elder son, 27-year-old Shaun, who had left home to join the Army some time ago.

The court heard that digger driver Thomson had been showing signs of strain since his wife walked out in March.

He was described as being "down" or "withdrawn" and had spoken of suicide to his brother.

Advocate depute Kevin McCallum, prosecuting, said: "It is clear from conversations that he had with others, including workmates and relatives, that he was concerned or exercised by the fact that he might lose custody of his children and that he would stand to lose financially from the divorce action."

Mrs Thomson was seeking a £50,000 payoff and £250 a week, the court heard.

Thomson was still living at Muiredge Cottages, Buckhaven, with his son Ross at the time of the murders.

On 3 May, Mrs Thomson had been planning to move into a new flat in Markinch with Ryan and Michelle.

Mrs Thomson had been cleaning her new flat and had taken Ryan and Michelle to their father's house.

At about 1600 BST, Thomson asked Ross to go to Asda for things he said he had forgotten.

When he returned just over an hour later, Thomson told him Ryan and Michelle had left.

Mrs Thomson arrived about 1900 BST and went into Michelle's room, where she saw blood on the floor next to the bed where her daughter was lying.

Mrs Thomson found her husband lying in bed with a large knife on the bedside table beside him.

"She went into Ryan's room, pulled back the bedclothes and saw blood on the left side of his stomach and stab wounds," said Mr McCallum.

Ross heard her screaming: "He's killed them."

Thomson, who had slashed both wrists and stuck a knife into his own stomach, was taken to Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline, where he was later interviewed and charged.

The court heard he had left a suicide note which included a message to his estranged wife: "June - too much pain, lies and hurt. Don't blame yourself. I will look after them. Just like your mother, move on alone. Love Rab Bleep"

Thomson spent part of his time on remand in the state hospital at Carstairs, but went to court on Friday from Perth Prison.

Defence QC Gordon Jackson, said doctors in Carstairs had found no evidence that Thomson was suffering from any mental illness.
