codemaniacs: they know themselves I have been on this thread for years still haven't seen anyone here canvassing for a quota of 90% for foreign born players even our own Komekn still esteem some home grown players like Ighalo etal...his major hype is innit boys So no one bro except you that want the NFF to reserve a small quota for foreign born players and large quota like 80% for home groom players You need to change your thinking because we need the nigerians doing well outside to come develop this country and it's gonna grow in numbers as years roll by because Nigerians in large numbers are relocating now and trust me they'll always identify with Nigeria... like me i go whisk soon but any of kids that choose play football or other sport must definitely play for Nigeria... right from childhood i will make them love the country |

JohnBullMySon: She's not thick but she's tall. If she's lightweight then Alozie and Onyinyechi are feather weight .
Even Okobi and Kanu are light as well as some others. There's one that was invited newly from Watford. She's probably the smallest person in that team. That one in athletico madrid (Payne) that girl thick sha.... i am surprised she is still able to run self even assisat thick too some of the defenders just too thick The America football team are slim, pacy and light weight...the way they run and carry themselves on the pitch amaze me |

JohnBullMySon: She does. Seriously, she's better than many of our current defenders. I even heard she turned down England to play for us. Yes she is. There is something about her that i likes is that she is light weight like those america players Nigeria female ballers look so thick and weigh too much for a footballer especially when it comes to being pacy and athletic |

codemaniacs:
they ( some people on this thread ) want the national team to be at least 90% - 96% foreign born players..
players like iheanacho, osimhen, chukwueze, oshoala started from Nigeria with poor training facilities.. while players like dessers, aina, okoye started with at least above basic training facilities so naturally they are also good to be selected...
if you add "no matter your place of birth" to the issue, Nigeria can pick 30 players who are foreign born and that will totally freeze out players like iheanacho, osimhen, chukwueze, oshoala..
I am saying Nigerians born ( and trained ) in Nigeria but playing abroad should be given a quota of at least 50% because the amount of foreign born players Nigeria has can permanently sideline the foreign based players.. Who are those that made the bolded statement we want the best to be called up irrespective of their place of birth or whatsoever as long as they're nigerians |

I just hope one day when you get a government position that involves managing people of different ethnicities you don't start acting like your c:urrent p:resident... It's people like u that will act like Buhari because you're already talking of quota system and leap frogging tribal sentiments as something beneficial. I am so sure if opportuned as a president you'll be more disposed and show partiality towards your tribe at the expenze of others instead of fostering meritocracy, true nationalism/patriotism...where all nigerians far and near, diaspora or within country shores are treated as Nigerians with no sentiments or favouritism |

codemaniacs: lack of sentiments is why a govt official will take money meant to develop a local govt in his/her home state outside Nigeria or even outside his/her home state and put it somewhere else and when his people complains he/she blames the FG...
tribal sentiments and religious sentiments must never be in the same sentence.. they are two different things entirely...
so you're saying states like Bayelsa, Akwa-ibom e.t.c.. should employ only Yorubas and Igbos because they get the best scores yearly both in waec , jamb and university courses.
when was the last time someone who wasn't Yoruba or Igbo got the overall best result in Jamb, waec, university courses... To you does it mean that people who are not Yoruba or Igbo are dull
If we go by merit based on results in Nigeria, Yorubas and Igbos will clear out most of the opportunities in Nigeria... What you wrote up there didn't follow The reason why a Local government chairman, senator, governor etc steals money meant for their constituency is because of lack of patriotism not sentiments.... Sentiments has never done well for nigeria and will never do well, sentiments makes us see the prosecution of a politician from my LG who stole money as witch hunting and all sorts because of primordial sentiments Primordial sentiments is whats happening in south africa right now even when it is obvious that the ex president is guilty and disrespecting court summons his supporters out of sentiments turned the cities into chaos and anarchy Merits will ensure the best gets the opportunities and as such encourage other youngsters to do same and see them as role model |

codemaniacs: you have no idea what racism is... let me quote American Gangster, Racism is when people of a different race come to a another person's house who is of a different race and maltreats or even kills the person...
I hope you understand that whyte people have to protect their interests especially in their own countries ( not the U.S because the U.S is a country with both Africans Americans and Europeans living there for hundreds of years ) just that most of them don't know how to be racist without been condescending, violent, abusive and derogatory towards another race.
if you're so concerned about racism then you should be more concerned about N:igeria's current pr:esident than me... Oga u on same pole with racism...don't wanna call u a tribalist Because that your claim on why alaba was omitted from the under 17 team is so flawed even Alaba said he was left out because of the stupid belief that under 17 team is grossly reserved for home grown players.... codemaniacs: Please this is sports thread, if I have to explain this issue the entire thread will be derailed...
I dislike when people from outside a region/place are feeling entitled to 100% of all the opportunities in that region that they don't belong to just because they look down on the credentials of the original owners and leaving the original owners with 0% or "3%" and the only way to fix it is to create a quota, a quota where the original owners always have at least 55%...
please lets stop here...
the U:S is a different ball game entirely... O:bama is not African American by ethnicity but he became the first b:lack president.. H:arris is not African American by ethnicity but he became the first b:lack vice president.. A lot of opportunities that should go to African Americans go to people that are considered "black and brown" people...
when African Americans complain people like you call them lazy meanwhile there are hundreds of thousands of African Americans graduating from university yearly but other "black and brown" some of whom have better results than AA's get the jobs...
Again, please let's stop here, I won't respond to any comment regarding tribalism as you guys don't seem to understand the difference between blocking/ side-lining COMPETENT indigenes from opportunities and sharing their opportunities with them by ensuring they ( COMPETENT INDIGENES ) get 55% quota.. Oga u know nothing how the system works over there so just slide What makes america what it is today is because all Americans black, white, creole, latino, asian american etc all contributed in building america of their dreams I am sure if we were in some of this European countries shoes we won't accept the likes of adama, Isan etc to play for us |

codemaniacs: you have to be trained to be competent, most footballers and athletes attend at least a football academy or sports academy before they can be considered for a professional career.. so most professional athletes you see today have the competency ( necessary sports education both theory and practical ) but the talent may not be there.
you can't compare players that play for Manchester United and players that play for bristol rovers fc.
the A:laba situation is a different issue entirely, can also be attributed to toxic tribalism against the SW... its the one of the same reasons Nigeria didn't tie down Saka, Akanji , adebayor e.t.c.. You're not worth replying from your last paragraph Who was victimizing the south west U mean the NFF big wigs? All it does is breed mediocrity. I tell u so annoying in the 21st century we're still running quota system little wonder why our public service is in shambles and the private sector making more progress because they ensue themselves of this mediocrity and lopsided mode of picking and sourcing talents unlike in the public sector |

my comment stands... So linking to sports....host communities should have reserved slots If you're even fair enough you should know that shell and others do give minor percentage to host communities and the talents ought to be competent prior consideration You need wipe your thinking and ensure it is devoid of sentiments reasoning like this made us loose alaba and many other world class players that would have played for us Right now we need the best everywhere while we develop our local leagues and tourney to meet standards |

codemaniacs: Picking competent foreign based players is not mediocrity.
Nigeria currently has competent Nigerians in Nigeria and outside Nigeria in a lot of professional fields.
So you're saying we should let the ones in Nigeria become jobless and hire only Nigerians born outside Nigeria.
Would your parents have been able to send you to school if only Nigerians with foreign degrees were getting all the jobs Your last paragraph does not follow because we still struggle to get jobs here in Nigeria wit thoss that schooled abroad jostling for same job slots like in NLNG, TOTAL, SHELL etc and the best get picked let it be so in sports let the best be picked irrespective of their country of birth or residence |

protecting the quota of foreign based players and Nigerian based players ( players in U17 and U19 and Academy players not NPFL players because the age of NPFL players is questionable ). We are talking about the player's union president for the WNBA. Also just featured in LeBron James remake of Space Jam. She is a big Superstar in female basketball.
