As I mentioned earlier, Nigerians are party people, as such we always celebrate every occasion with cows, goat etc depending on your level of wealth.

Christmas celebrations, salah, weddings both church and traditional, end of year get-togethers, etc it's a must at every Nigerian occasion to entertain your visitors with enough food and meat

To clarify you, not all traditions are fetish as you're making it sound.
Traditional marriages are one of those cultural practices that are peculiar to different tribes in Nigeria, and it doesn't have to involve bloods of animals or humans, and idol worshipping. Though, cultures are different.

But, more modern traditional marriages are just parties, getting to know families, exchanging gifts and being welcomed to the into the community by the people.

Traditional marriages in Nigeria does not mean fetish or idol worshiping.

It means meeting the parents and the villagers/community of the bride, carrying out celebratory ceremonies like gifts exchange, palm wine drinking, parties with cultural wears, getting to know the intended families etc all depends on the cultures / tribe of the bride.


Basically, it's just introducing yourself to the bride’s people and celebrating with them as it were in the olden days, before the white man introduced the culture of being wedded in a church

Some comments supporting APC above are so stupid as usual, nothing to be surprised.

We always rush to compare Nigeria to the USA as if we are on the same developmental level as them. Because the policy works there doesn't mean it will work here, different realities and dynamics.

If the government wanted to help the students, they could start by subsidizing tertiary education which is not going to be possible by them.

Alot of universities are not even issuing the NELFUND due to entanglement in funds misappropriation. students are still waiting on their allocations right now.

The increase in school fees also forced alot more students out of school. I used to have friends that could afford the school fees back then, due to the increments in fees and rents they dropped out. Some took the loans for personal expenses.

The economy is so bad, feeding and rentage for an average student is difficult and the above average ones are struggling to stay afloat. So much that students are going into fraud to stay afloat.
Its already so difficult for the Nigerian student, why are you now adding after school loans to the equation?

The government are more after generating revenues from the federal schools than student welfare thats why they increased school fees.
Federal schools now have to admit twice the number of students for an academic session. After collecting school fees and dues, these students are then dropped for not meeting a cut off point at the end of the session or dropped for reasons that the department is not able to accommodate their large numbers.
