I think it's high time cane should be banned in public schools, our kids are not animals,corporal punishments should be encouraged instead.

the cane is a form of corporal punishment. By corporal punishment I hope you don't mean that instrument of torture used in some US schools-- the paddle. I am not against corporal punishment BTW,. A 100 strokes is far many too many no matter what is used---- even the palm of the hand

Most of those posting on here don't think I should do it. The child had been living with her Aunt until a few months ago when she moved back with us. She be over here tomorrow so if I am going to do that will be the time. I won't have to involve her mother, the aunt can get the child ready-- I don't think she'll need to unclad her but if that's necessary the Aunt can do that. The mother can talk to her afterwards

In this case there is a fundamental problem, she must have had so much time to herself while growing maybe due to her parents work or boarding school. So they spent little time with her. If not, a 17 year old in my opinion is still somewhat under the control of her parents....Even though shes not above the canning age, i suggest that the parents (the mother especially) should sit her down, express her dissapointment and dissapproval, advise and counsel her on the possible dangers now that sex is involved, Encourage her to focus on her bright future. Canning may only make things worse in this case.

Her mother has been trying to teach her those things talking to her about the immorality of premarital sex and the practical risks of it- the disease the unwanted pregnancies-- trouble is the child doesn't think any of that is going to affect her. Further we don't trust this boy. He is from what I've been told irresponsible and the minute he gets her pregnant as he's done other girls I'm told abandon her

Her mother wants me to flog her. I may do it tomorrow. Her aunt will be over and she can help get the child ready without having to involve her mother- I like for her mother to talk with her afterwards. We're responsible for her safety, moral upbringing, and welfare. Maybe the caning won't work but I think we may have to try

As much as i agree with you, a child will always be a child...caning accompanied with some positive examples is important..

I asked a question about a rebellious teenager-- a 17 year old girl -- who willfully disobeyed her parents by continuing to see a 20 year old boy she had been told to stay away from- and she's been spreading her thighs for him. Should I flog her? Most on the other thread think not and they mostly make good arguments against it

Why not state those wrong reasons to her why she should not have sex at that age.

Have you considered the fact that maybe flogging might make her stop for good then when she is of the right age to get married, she became frigid towards sex.

In that situation, are you gonna flog her into being normal again?

Education is the key please. Keep your stick somewhere. Those days when they flog teens, information was limited. Do not tell her if he touch her, she will be pregnant. Just call it what the name is.

it's also for disobeying an order to keep away from the boy

I guess having sex with a 20 year old boy after she was ordered not to continue seeing him is going past her boundary. Concerned about how she'll react when the lashes are being laid on her back.

not her sole guardian, living with parent, our mom passed years back of recent she and my step mom don't see eye to eye, they use to have this peace treaty in the past, i pretend to like you, you pretend to care kinda life but right now on the slightest provocation they on each others next. Thinking of forwarding her to my aunt, problem is i dont want to ruin that trust we have, that connection. But seriously am a guy this so not my forte, expect for the impending flogging part, strong discipline. Thing is it will all prob her to be deceitful the more and more careful with her lifestyle and whatever, i know that first hand from experience.
I need a way too maintain the relationship and still keep her ironed out.

how much good will it do this child to hang, castrate or whatever her father?Seems to me very little. It's a different cultural than where I am but we have the same mindless appetite for vengeance at the expense of actually helping victims

Rome was not built in a day, training begins from infantry,...the little things overlooked will grow to be a monster.....parents are 85% responsible for rebellious teens, they should also lead by example,...A teen can still be spanked in my opinion.

problem is good parents often don't need to and not so good parents often spank inappropriately and ineffectively

maybe they prefer neither and it's the way it's done there
