The amount for PTE and IELTS is around 80-5k. Yes, there are centres in Nigeria.

I wrote PTE (Pearson's Test of English). This is an alternative to writing IELTS. They also administer English language test like IELTS.

I think band 4 is the minimum score for IELTS UKVI B1. You may check the UK gov website for details so I don't mislead anyone.

It's an accounting related job. I was contacted by a recruiter via LinkedIn. I was scheduled for 2 interviews in succession and was offered employment.

Hi! Please share with us, step by step, how you were able to get a CoS from an employer. We're all here to learn from one another.

Typically, before you can be issued a certificate of sponsorship (COS) by your potential employer. You must have been offered employment in the UK which meets the minimum pay for immigrants.

On accepting the offer, you go through some screening which varies amongst employers. Every employer/organization have specific onboarding activities which varies from background checks, filling of forms, signing some agreements etc.

You are expected to also have prove your knowledge of English language, TB test results (All this have been stated in the first post).

Once you submit all the necessary documents to your employer, they will start processing your COS. You don't have to do anything else but wait patiently till they send it to you. Once you receive the COS, you quote the COS ref number on your visa application.

Let me know if there is any other contribution you think might be helpful.

Thanks brother... I don kuku calm down. Just that it is taking forever. Today makes it 3 weeks. The delay keeps making me feel I should not have re-negotiated

However, I was able to renegotiate my annual pay which led to my recruiter insisting that I will have to get an updated CoS to reflect my new pay before I can proceed with my application.

I am just wondering what will be the implication if I use the old annual pay as it is also above the minimum pay for tier 2 visa.

Now this is not to take anything away from NNPC as a very fantastic place to work. If I get a Manager or even DM position there myself, I will take it.

I personally wont take any oil servicing firm, even Schlum, ahead of NNPC for 3 reasons

1. At this stage of my career, if I make a job change, I would like it to be where I would spend almost all the rest of my career. NNPC guarantees that more than oil servicing firms

2. Oil servicing firms are very volatile - they lay off at the slightest issue with oil and gas industry.

3. I'm a support professional (not a core technical person like engineers, geologists etc), we have limited roles in the oil servicing because they don't own oil assets that involve complex finance function.

That said, if I were entry level and a technical person (engineers, geologists etc), and I have offers from NNPC or Schlumberger (not just any oil servicing), I may comsider Schlum because of the international brand which can help in penetrating international oil and gas market. I have a friend that moved from Schlumberger Nigeria to Schulmberger UK then to Saudi Aramco.

But generally, NNPC offers more stability and security.

Nice idea. I will advise you finish with ur BSc first before registering with ICAN. U will start from foundation level. There r 3levels; foundation , skilled and professional. U might also need practical experience too to take advantage of the knowledge u acquire. To achieve this, u might seek employment
in an audit ( thrive for the "big 4" )
