There is nothing like double standards, I don't see countries such as Mexico and Canada wishing to sour their rlationships with the US in fact even Cuba currently wishes to draw closer to the US unlike Russia who's neighbours are all rushing to join NATO for protection against what happened to Chechnya, Georgia and now Ukraine. That is the difference between the two countries.

I've not seen where Mexico and Cuba want to improve relations with US . Not when US attempted to kill Fidel Castro for thousands of time or when they call them Communist.

Only Canada has good relations with US which is their default settings. Russia is not alone , countries like Belarus etc are natural ally .

Chechnya move is not bad for Russia,US will not allow confederate army to attack innocent Americans and attempted to break away or Canada breaking along English and French line or Ireland breaking away from UK .

Technically ,US is NATO because US has the major stake . Even if we don't use US ,we can use western countries which US is part of and they declined Russia relationship with Cuba in 1962 .

I don't know why Russia didn't attack Finland like Ukraine but I can guess perhaps because Finland is not that much of a security threat like Ukraine .

Russia has a right to defend themselves like USA defended themselves in 1962 .

If our leaders are serious, mosquito nets and food are not what Nigeria can't afford for people in IDP camps instead of relying on Western aid. Imagine the US and other Western countries refusing to sell weapons to Nigeria that will help to eliminate insurgency or use their now removed military base in Niger to help in the fight but they're ready to give aid to the insurgent's victims?

The Europeans also built ports, roads and rail. The rail in Nigeria that was "built" by the Chinese is a renovation of what the Europeans did in Nigeria years ago. Unfortunately, the westerners are more focussed on. wars than anything else.

The Europeans built those infrastructures because Nigeria was their colony and these infrastructure was directly useful to them . They built the railway to ensure easy access to agricultural goods from inner regions.

Since the end of their colonial era,they’ve not done any tangible thing in Nigeria or other African countries.

I even read that two different cables were cut, very close to each (few meters apart) but were cut about 24 hours apart. That may rule out theory of the anchor from the Chinese vessel.
Another theory is the presence of Russian vessel called YANTAR known for such activities (cable cutting).
And the third theory was from Russia pointing finger at USA that it could be "a false flag operation".
