@Phy,Imperioux,Eatmyshorts and other meaningful contributors on this thread, So I tried to get a date in May but I couldn't so I guess I will have to apply for the emergency appointment since my school resumes on the 29th of this month. Now to my my question, I see that in the white form the consular gave me I could recollect that he asked me for any other supporting docs to back my application after I gave him all I had, but I told him that's all I had with me that day. I know that this time around the consular will ask me for more supporting doc, Please what are the documents that can really show my ties to Nigeria? So that this time around I can add up to my documents, I don't wanna leave any lapses this time around at all. Once I get a date I'll let everyone in the house know. I am confident that this time I'll put through in Jesus name, Amen, Thanks y'all and Happy new month. |

So this is how everything went, I had a 10.00AM appointment today and I got there around 8.00AM all set and good to go, We were called in around 9.30, Our documents were checked by the ladies at the entrance and then we sat then till we got to the front roll, So we went in 5 by 5 batches, I finally got into the embassy at 12.30PM. Again documents were checked once again, passports were taken and we were called for Bio metrics by the Black lady with dreadlocks in window 4.. I did my Bio metrics and sat down. My ticket number 270 appeared on the Counter 2 and off I went with confidence. Now this is how it went down V.O - Good afternoon Me - Good afternoon Sir, HE then checked out my DS-160 form and then the interview began. V.O - Can you tell me the name of ur school Me : I told him V.O - What course do you want to study Me - Told him Computer Science V.O- Asks me if I have any educational documents Me- I have carefully pinned 2gda my W.A.E.C result with a scratch card to it and I added my ND Certificate from YabaTech as well as my standardize TOEFL Score all pinned 2gda He checked my W.A.E.C briefly, Also looked at my Certificate from Yabatech as well as my TOEFL Score, Then he asked me. Meanwhile I was explaining to him so he could check all the pinned documents. V.0 - Then he asked me how schools that I applied to Me - Told him 3 and I named the 3 concisely V.o - Ask what I have been since the completion of my Diploma since 2006 Me - Told him I work V.0- Says OK gotcha Then he asked me Where I work Me - with Huawei as a Core Network operator V.O - he asked how long have you been there Me - I said 5 yrs, Then I quickly told him I've got the study leave from my office, and I gave it to him to see, He glanced thru the letters, with the ones I wrote and the one my Dad wrote too as letter of sponsorship V.O - Smiles as says that OK, You work with Huawei lots of people come here and lie they work with Huawei but I quickly corrected him n told him Indeed I work there and I could tell him my job functions, he just smiled and then continued V.O - Ask me how much I earn monthly Me - Told him V.O - Said will I be making more after the completions of my studies Me - Told him Yes definitely Sir V.o - Says OK Then he picks up my i-20, Check out who will be responsible for my finances and all. V.o- I see your parent will be paying your school fees Me - Yes sir V.0- What does your Father do Me- Told him he's a Cocoa Agro/Allied Merchant with over 26 yrs in the business V.O - Can I see any banks statements Me - Told him 5 secs Sir, Then I gave him the folded bank statements of I and my Dad, mine has 1.7 plus and my Dad has about 14.7 Mill on it V.O- Asked my why I am interested in Studying in the US. me - Told him I am interested in Practical knowledge which I may not be able to get from my country as well as the US is at the fore front of Information Technology as a result it is the motivating factor that has attracted me to studying in the U.S Then he passed me back all my documents except my Passport, He returned my statements and other educational docs, He began typing on his computer and my heart was pounding fast thinking he was going to reach out for the Green slip for Visa Pick up, but Alas he reached out for the white paper and said politely that I am sorry sir, I will not be able to issue you the student visa today, Though I was shocked but I humbly said thank you, and before I left, I asked him if I could re-apply and he said this is the 2nd time, and I was like No... He was you have been refused in Abuja in 2010, and I was like yes that's correct and immediately told him my Company wanted to sending me on a training but I got refused, he now said yea gotcha.. He checked and he said sure I can re-apply again, that for fairness he won't be the one to attend to me again the next time, Then he passed my passport and he gave me the 214 Letter. I felt bad but I din't allow it show in my countenance, I have prayed and fasted I know I am strong and I won't be deterred, I am determined and I know my inputs, hard work will pay off for me at the end, Please everyone in the house I paid for another Visa fees of 26,400 today at GT Bank, How can I re-apply ASAP as my school will be resuming on the 29TH of May 2012, I will welcome constructive criticism as regards how this interview went, Help a brother so I can definitely give back to this forum that has been of tremendous help to me in the past 6 months. |

Hello Good morning everyone I am new here and I've been reading lots of meaningful contributions on this forum and I must say it is really motivating, I have good news, I actually applied to study Under Grad in the Us last Spring 2011, Now I sent my supporting documents a bit late and I was ask if I had like to defer to either Summer or Fall 2012, I thought the Summer would be nice so I asked for them to defer to Summer 2012, Now I have just received a e-mail from the admissions office that I've been admitted. Now my questions are, Do I go ahead to book appointment against Summer 2012 once I get my I-20 form? Would it just be nice that I take my time and wait till Fall 2012. I was advised by a friend that I should defer to Fall 2012 because he says that when the Us consulates grants more visa's to applicants. At everyone here, I will need your advise on this before I turn in my application in for Summer 2012 at the Us Consulate, Thanks y'all I will be waiting for your meaningful contributions. |

@ All Good aevening great Nairalanders, I am here again to seek an advise regarding applying to the United States as a degree seeking student, Tho last year October I applied for a Visitor visa at the Abuja Yankee Embassy, I claimed I was working with a Company in Abuja, I work with my ND results as a Core Network Operator for Huawei, Now I was refused the visa based on the fact that I wasn't married and I've not previous travel experience and that was just the first time I applied to Yankee embassy finger prints were taken. Now I am weighing my options of going to Yankee again to apply for a student visa, My questions is, Can I apply for a student visa without them asking why I wanna leave my job to go to school now, Please I need contributions from all of you to guide on why I am going for my Under Grad, by the way I am 26, thanks all. I need your advise at Y'all thanks again and God bless you |
@Cally good @ All applicants, I think there is still a possibility for the exams to be taken in Nigeria. This possibility is not a confirmed information. I was told by someone that some people did the entrance exam at the Finnish embassy in Abuja while some did theirs at British council this year. Now, it all depends on the school and course you have chosen. Thanks for this email, but can you please talk to this person to ask about the schools that writes their entrance exams at the Finnish Embasy or The British Council so we can apply to those schools too, This is worrisome, If the Finnips-networks people decides to do this to we the genuine ones then it's a real heart break, thanks |
@afrowale, Boss nor vex I hail you, I think I would be interested in the student visa for Turkey, I would like the low package things too that has nothing to do with the oysm or something. feel free to drop me a msg, my email is callmecapela@yahoo.com, I will wait to read from you. |
@ Overloved, here is another email to buttress my point Dear Applicant, It means that Nigerian applicants are eligible to apply but they do not have possibility to participate in entrance examinations. Br, Juha Vierola d.psalms: Dear Applicant, Unfortunately Nigerian applicants will not be invited to Ghana in spring 2012. Nigerian applicants will be invited to Finland. More information at: http://www.puv.fi/en/prospective_degree_students/applying/entrance_examinations/ Best Regards, Juha Vierola (Mr.) Admissions Coordinator Admissions Office Vaasa UAS juha.vierola@vamk.fi Description: Description: VAMK_logo+slogan_CMYK_ |
@choose4me,@overloved, Here is a mail my friend sent to me this morning and I am not sure if this is going to happen to all intending Nigerians that wishes to apply next year (Spring 2012) , can someone please clear the air on this ASAP. Here is a copy of the email as below Dear Applicant, Nigerian applicants will not be accepted automatically. FINNIPS –network has made a decision that Nigerian applicants will be invited to Finland instead of Ghana in spring 2012. Finnish Immigration Service does not issue visas for exam purposes in Finland. Therefore Nigerian applicants cannot participate in entrance examinations abroad or in Finland in spring 2012. Unfortunately this same thing applies to all Universities of Applied Sciences, which are part of FINNIPS network. Best regards, Juha Vierola Admissions Office Vaasa UAS |
@Justwise, Thanks for your input, Yea sincerely I have my ND, But my question is can I go ahead to apply for a student visa? I hope they won't be asking me why I wan't to go to school now instead of coming the year before claiming that Company was sending for a short course? I seriously want to know the implications and my chances of a successful interview, I am not married yet and I have not even traveled out of Nigeria yet, Please advise. |

First of all, I am sorry if the word dirty seems awkward, What I meant was that there would have been a time where the urge to leave the country was what was in vogue now don't crucify me on what I wrote, What I am asking is if it would be possible for me to apply as a student to the Us since I have applied for a Visitor Visa to the Us before, Once again I am sorry, Can you please give me your own contribution too, thanks |

@ Everyone that has contributed to this thread, I am very happy for your positive response, God bless you all. |
@Vicjustice, Per your questions, Age discrepancies are taken very seriously, but before i can give advise or suggestion on this, i need you to answer these: *The discrepancy in your entered DOBs, is it just the Year or the Day and/or Month are also conflicting? *Are your Parents' data (ie, Names, DOBs, mother's Maiden name) in your current documents/passport the same as the ones you gave to the embassy then? Now here is it went, my real date of birth is 14/09/1985, I have a E-passport to this effect, The one I used to apply to the British embassy in 2006 is dated 02/08/1990, issued 07/08/2006 and has expired since 06/08/2011. But my name is as the same on the new e-passport and the old one too has this same name. My parents name's was the only names I filled then on the application form, as I have all those documents right here, it has my parent's real names. but there's no place I was asked to fill their DOB's or my mother's maiden name in the application forms. But my parent's name on my new E-passport is still the same as with the 06/08/2011. Now the thing is the supposed Uncle who was inviting me then, the name on his British passport is Mohammed Shitta, so I claimed my Mum is the elder brother, but since she was married to my Dad that was my was now bears my father's surname, but she used to be Nee (Shitta). @ dalebutt1 Thanks for your input, I really appreciate everything you wrote here too, I am scared of coming out too, cause I don't want to be banned for 10 years as I have waited for 5 years already and I have not applied to the UK embassy at all. Please keep your contributions coming everyone. |
Good afternoon people of honor and integrity, permit me to introduce myself, my name is Akin, I have this problem with the UK embassy which has denied me many chances of visiting , OK here is is it, few years ago specifically 2006, Whilst the urge to move out of Nigeria was what was in vogue then, My older cousin persuaded me to try applying to the UK to see if I could be granted visa too since he applied as a underage application then in the same year, he was issued the visa, he was 25 years old then but he claimed 16 and thus he was granted the visa. Well he introduced me to his agent and I paid a sum of #100,000 for him to get the documents to process mine too, he did and we both went to then UK VFS office at Ikeja to submit, now here's my problem, the name we used in applying for the visitor visa then was my real name, (my complete name with surname and other name), then there was no finger prints, so I submitted and after 2 weeks I went back for the result and alas I was denied on the grounds that my intended relative that I am to visit did not provide the details of accommodation of where I will be staying and that if I visit I will not return to Nigeria, so I was given a letter to appeal, of which I didn't even bother to appeal since I didn't know how to go about it. Now the problem is that the agent asked me to back date my age, the I was 21 and I reduced it to 16, Now my question is, I have a new E-passport with my actual date of birth which now reads that I am 26, I am through with school and I just finished service, I would like to go for my masters but my question is won't I be denied instantly on the grounds that I falsified my age? On the other hand, I talked to a friend who advise me to write a letter through my lawyer to the British high commission to come out clean so when I would apply for student visa I won't be having issues. All I need is your advise on how to go about this, I am in this huge dilemma and none of my family knows about it yet. I wait to read from all of you, I will appreciate meaningful contributions to this thread, once again God bless you all. |
