Speaking to Daily Trust, spokesman of the Command, DSP Almustapha Sani, who had earlier confirmed the arrest of two persons over the allegation, said investigations revealed that the wedding was actually between a male and female but because of the presence of ‘Yan Daudu,’ who were mimicking female mannerism, people in the area thought it was gay marriage and alerted the police. ‘Yan Daudu’, shorthand for “men who act like women” in Hausa language, means “sons of Daudu,” a fun-loving, gambling spirit worshiped in the Muslim Bori practice, whose trance and dancing rituals are traditionally associated with marginalised poor women, sex workers and disabled people. (The guardian, 2013) The landlord of the house, Alhaji Shehu Adamu confirmed that ceremony took place but that those who hired the venue were females with whom he is well acquainted and that they told him it was a wedding ceremony. In a video uploaded on Youtube, the gospel musician said had God not revealed to her husband that the two were planning an abortion, her family would have been ridiculed if the abortion had gone awry. She thanked God for using her husband to expose the two. “Obinim has allowed himself to be used by God. As a mother, I didn’t even know my child was pregnant. If not for Angel Obinim whom God has gifted with visions, this would have been disastrous,” she said. Mrs Obinim also used the opportunity to rubbish suggestions that her husband owed her an apology for allegedly reprimanding her in front of the congregation. According to a controversial counselor, George Lutterodt, Bishop Obinim disrespected his wife and painted her in a bad light with the public reprimand. However, Florence Obinim said the only time Bishop Obinim would chastise her in public is when God is at work. “My husband has never reprimanded me in public. I have known my husband for years and he calls me honey and never by my first name Florence. So if he calls me Florence in public, then it is not him speaking but God at work. If he had reprimanded me by saying “honey” then I would have known that was my husband speaking,” She continued: – “At that time, the “Angel” was at work and so it’s not about husband and wife matters else God will disgrace you. So when he rebuked me, I knew it was God speaking. My husband has not wronged me in anyway so if you are asking that my husband apologises to me then it’s as though asking my father Jesus to apologise to me,” Source: http://www.timenaija.com/2016/08/23/gospel-singer-florence-obinim-defends-husband-over-flogging-of-teenagers-god-used-him-to-expose-the-two/ |

The suspect, Umam Hrmid, 48, from Borno, a 2LT of Nigerian Legion, Lagos State Command, was arrested on Friday evening at about 10:30 p.m. by RRS operatives in Agege after dispossessing one Amin Al–Hassan of his motorcycle. The suspect who was working with his accomplice, Tijani Bashir, now at large, had accosted his victim, Al–Hassan, at Total Filling Station, Agege and told him that he was a policeman attached to the Lagos State Taskforce on Special Offences. He told his victim that he was impounding his motor cycle for plying restricted area and for operating at prohibited hour. Bewildered, Al–Hassan began to plead for negotiation but Hrmid told him to bring N20, 000:00 but the victim could only produce N5,000:00, which the suspect rejected. “When he refused to accept the N5,000:00, he mounted the bike and rode it towards Iyana Ipaja. I begged him but he told me to get down from the bike because I sat behind him while his partner rode the bike they brought”, Al–Hassan explained. ”I forced the bike to a stop by removing its key from the ignition, and I got down…. We were arguing when two passers-by joined us and they requested for his identity card when he told them that he was a policeman with the Lagos State Taskforce…. Reluctantly, he flashed his ID card before them but one of them was so swift to snatch it from him. Then, he began to chase the guy, who quickly ran towards RRS patrol team nearby who arrested him and collected the dagger he was holding.” At the RRS’s Headquarters, three other victims from whom Hrmid had collected bikes weeks before he was caught on Wednesday, came with particulars of their bikes, alleging that Hrmid, along with an accomplice, whom they described took their bikes. The victims, Shuaib, Abdullahi, Umaru Hassan and Salisu Umaru, stated that the suspect collected their motor cycles in a spate of three weeks, and that one his victims was shot at a close range in the cheek at Shoretire Street, Agege. One of the victims, Shuaib Abdullahi explained that the suspect at around 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday last week, took his bike, FKJ 259 QA, Boxer model, from him, under the pretext that he was taking him to Taskforce Office. “He drove me to Ile–Zik before threatening me to get down or he would kill him at the deserted place. I requested for his number and he gave me a fake number. I called the number immediately he left but the number didn’t go…. I learnt he was arrested yesterday, that was why we came to RRS to collect our okada from him,” he said. The suspect, however, failed to deny the allegations of the three other victims when they confronted him. Speaking on the development, the Police PPRO, SP, Dolapo Badmos confirmed the arrest of the suspect, stressing that his arrest might help shed more light on reported cases of motor cycles theft in Agege and its environs. The suspect has been transferred to Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS) for further investigations. Source: http://www.timenaija.com/2016/08/21/photos-rrs-nabs-legion-officer-for-stealing-motorcycles/ |

According to a report by Vanguard, Asmau who served as a housemaid to the mother of the two children, worked for four months before kidnapping the children Amina, 6 and Rukayya, 7. Narrating how it all happened, mother of the children simply identified as Hawau, said Asmau had been living with her and assisting her with some domestic chores while being paid N400 or N500 daily. According to her, during the Sallah holiday in July, she had planned to send her daughters to their grandparents in Lagos for holiday and had invited her brother to come down to Ogun state to take her children to Lagos. “My brother came to pick them (Amina and Rukayya) but did not meet me and my children at home on Sallah day because we had gone to the Eid ground to pray. He did not wait for me as he left for Lagos. When my children knew that he had come and gone they started crying. Asmau used the opportunity and told me she was going to Lagos that day and that she will help me to take them to their grandparents, so, I agreed and asked the children to go with her. After two days, I found out that the children were not at their grandparents’ house, I called the woman but her number was not connecting. I checked her at her house, I did not find her and my children. I started to go round to check out till I spent all what I had and yet I did not find them. I then reported to the Sarkin Hausawa of Ogere Alhaji Abdullahi Saminaka, who organised a prayer and informed the people. Luckily for me, a woman came to the palace and told the Sarkin that she saw Asmau with my children begging in Ikorodu in Lagos state. So, he (Sarkin) sent his men to go and bring them; one of them, called Ali told us that he found the children with the woman begging for alms in tattered clothes. We were also told that the woman removed their new sallah clothes and gave it to one woman, who was a food vendor, in exchange for food. The children told us that the woman used to beat them if they cried or refused to go and beg for alms. She told people, while they went begging for alms that she is their mother.” Asmau is presently in police custody.
