i am still not fan of betting but just thought i should share this interesting story... this is how peoples lives just change when they least expect it. Fans of betting in Owerri received encouragement to keep on betting when a young man won himself a life changing sum of N30 Million Naira in a Bet9ja game he played with N100! One hundred Naira! Imagine! This happened last week at one of the popular betting centers owned by a guy named Vicki who is also popular in his own way in the betting business. His office is located at the Akwakuma Junction, Orlu road. I gathered the game had an extra 400k on top and the winner was said to have given it to the friend who borrowed him the N100 he used to play the game. A lot of people have been amazed by the game and are studying it to understand what the young man (who is now at large for reasons you should know) was thinking when he placed the bet. His luck might rub of on them. I got the code from one of them who showed me how to login and check it (I don’t bet so I didn’t know how …lol). Check out details of the game. source:http://alaowerri.com/pictures-of-the-bet9ja-game-that-won-30-million-naira-in-owerri/ more

A final year student of Imo State University Owerri bared his mind on the much talked about free education scheme of the Imo State Government by sharing figures from the payments he recently made in school. When asked if he knew anyone that paid the amount, he replied emphatically, “I just did”, “Am a first hand witness” he added. School fees (indigenous) = 20,000 Statement of result = 1,000 Convocation fee = 19,000 Verification fee = 1,000 Clearance fee = 1,000 WAEC verification = 1,000 SUG fee = 1,000 ID card = 1,000 Late payment = 1,000 Total = 46,500. This is despite the compulsory parting sums students are coerced to pay in almost all the offices. Now tell me: WHO SAID ROCHAS IS RUNNING FREE EDUCATION PROGRAM IN IMSU? Point of correction, he could be forgiven had he said REDUCED TUITION. Source: alaowerri.com |

Just thought I should share this to salute this brilliant lady and one of those putting Nigeria on the spotlight... Margaret Bolaji has emerged the only Nigerian among 47 other young people from around the world that would be speaking at the International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) holding from 9th to 12th of November in Nusa Dua, Indonesia. Similar to the 3rd Nigeria Family Planning Conference that held last year in Abuja, the conference’s organizers recognize the important roles played by young people in leading and driving actions that promote family planning demand and uptake. The youth pre-conference has therefore, become an integral part of these conferences to promote active youth participation. The conference organizers announced a youth video contest to select speakers and moderators at this year’s youth pre-conference. Margaret Bolaji emerged as the only Nigerian to make the list among a total of 47 other young people from around the world. According to the conference’s website, 180 young people aged 18 to 25 from all over the world applied to be speakers/moderators during the 2015 ICFP. All applications received were reviewed, and the selection process was based on a double-blind review process that rated the creativity, engagement, experience, and speaking skills of each applicant. Margaret is a Research Associate at Population and Reproductive Health Initiative. She also works as a presenter at Kaduna State Media Corporation’s Queen FM. In an exclusive chat with HealthNewsNG.com, she revealed she only heard about the video contest just three days to the close of submission of entries. Within that period, she said she researched, produced, recorded and uploaded the video. The video was recorded with her Nokia phone and it was her first YouTube upload. Although a bit concerned while looking at videos from the same contest in 2013, she said she was encouraged by the submission from a Nigerian winner, Isaiah Owolabi. The highlight of her victory came when she was asked to make a presentation at the opening ceremony of the Conference on November 9th. Margaret said she hopes to bring back knowledge and experience from the conference to make more impact in her works with young girls in the Northern part of the country. Pangea:It's very annoying and sad |
It appears MTN Nigeria is in the giving mood as they have been lavishing customers with various freebies for some weeks now. I personally don’t take interest in these things because I have always had the belief that anything coming from them is in the ratio of 10:90 (10 for the customers and 90 for them). But this appears to have changed in recent times as they have continually dished out mouth watering freebies to customers though to selected lucky lines. I once heard a woman say she was given N36, 000 to make calls for 7 days. I just laughed and said MTN will be MTN. Even if you decide to sing all Nigerian songs while calling someone, it will be difficult to exhaust that. Then my two brothers also got it! That now got me interested..LOL Who doesn’t like freebies biko? Anyways, I wasn’t among the chosen ones. ![]() Now they are doing another one but the offers are different — calls or browsing. Just dial *142# and follow the instructions. You are likely to be presented with two options for either making calls or browsing. I got the offer for making calls and I chose the second one which is to pay N150 to call MTN numbers unlimited for 7 days. hmmmm… somebody’s ear will go on fire! So I selected option 2 and the next message I got after activation read – Hello, you can now call MTN to MTN numbers for as long as you like. N150 access fee has been deducted from your account. Offer valid for 7 days. So I have to stop here. Time to make calls. #winks. via: http://alaowerri.com/mtn-is-giving-unlimited-calls-to-customers-for-7-days-see-how-to-get-it/ |

I bumped into this program by MegaFM Owerri last night. It was an Igbo phone in program and the presenter told a very chilling and almost unbelievable story of how a young lady killed her sister because she was jealous of her marital success. She eventually moved into her home and married her late sister’s husband. Now she is troubled and didn’t know what to do. She wants to move out of her late sister’s house and also considering killing herself. She reached out to the presenter to help her find solution to her challenge. The story sounded so surreal and even callers couldn’t believe it really happened. Personally, I thought she was sharing a Nollywood story. The calls started coming in and I couldn’t believe when some people advised her to go ahead and kill herself because she has done something unpardonable. What would you have advised her to do? via AlaOwerri |
