guru02: Please don't tell lies. i-Guru: Before you hit "return 0;" after you end processing, enter "getchar()" and it would wait until you enter a character, before it terminates. |
I'll paste chatlogs following discussions I have with i-guru, here. http://codepad.org/KSRw9xPW would be my "introduction". |
Indeed it would appear that we haven't got any more interested parties. Send me your IM ident, and I guess we can chat over msn/yahoo -- or whatever you use. |
Just download vidalia and tor. |
There is no _best_ -- I'm sick of having to repeat this. |
If these, "game consoles" and "a paltform to support ibo or hausa" and "a Nigerian OS" is what defines skill, then he's stupid. Consider how many Nigerians work for IBM, Microsoft, Google. Why aren't they acknowledged? I'm not here to defend Nigeria, I think the country is a pile of rubbish waiting to be fully destroyed, but this guy is probably hugely clueless about what he's even talking about. Children make game consoles, all the time -- see Python. I've made operating system kernels, why do I need to then give Nigeria credit for it? Nigeria has only possibly made the process longer with its constant light taking. What this also begs for is a question, to greateros, as to why he hasn't done any of the aforementioned things himself, to represent his kinsmen? |
Read the documentation. |
i-Guru, cool -- I'm trying to rally up a couple of more people. Then we can get started. Currently creating an archive of documentation that we'd need for this, I'll put it on my httpd later on when I know this is a true thing. |
lossa: Practice makes perfect. I'm starting up a C/asm programming lecture for beginners, if you want to join -- let me know. Some say it takes 10 years to become a competent programmer, or, rather -- it takes 10 years to become an expert in any field, be it playing the piano, being a programmer, or cooking blowfish *shrug* -- Depending on your aspirations and goals, you might consider learning a simpler language (that would take a shorter amount of time to master), maybe I'll put Python in the list of languages to learn. Give or take, you'll develop competence in about a year, with continual development. It isn't difficult. It just takes retention. And depending on whether or not you're interested, send your email address or msg me, so I can start setting things up, see https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-401843.0.html |
What's funnier is there's suitable evidence for the evolution of species. Yet, religious believers think that Scientists have an "agenda" -- clearly, the proof by actual fossils aren't good enough, but a magician in the sky controlling your successes and failures is. |
An expected response. You clearly have no significant evidence ![]() |
As the topic states, could someone give me one piece of significant evidence of the existence of a god? I find that a lot of religious believers are so blinded, that they believe things without pre-conditions. It's been discovered that the bible states nowhere did god make the Earth, with religious scholars translating Hebrew properly, yet, people choose to believe otherwise, if at all. So, this thread is for those people (that don't say "look at the sun", or "look at the moutains" which can give me anything significant that I can measure, proving the existence of a god.Although this might get me banned from this forum (yawn) let's see how it goes. |
Ghengis: Dynamic tracing isn't limited to Solaris -- check your resources. Neither one of your points have suggested that it is better (or worse) to use Solaris for application development yet, |
I've got some time on my hands, (don't ask) -- and thought I'd help out with people that want to begin learning C, or x86 assembly (on Linux) from the bottom up, providing them with tutorials and documentation, with lectures over IRC, and so on. It'd probably be better if some experienced programmers were in on the flick, and if we had more than 10 people interested in doing this, so I wouldn't waste any time with idlers. If anyone's interested, otherwise consider this a dud. |
A filesystem doesn't make an operating system better or worse to develop application programs on. Rethink your statement, or come back when you're less stupid. |
Agreed. |
Erm, ebooks/real books -- it doesn't matter. They're documentation and they have the same information, if you find it easier and acquire more from reading off of your computer, then stick to it. Ceekay: Deitel and Deitel are very good authors, and historical figures in programming (C++ and C) -- Most of the people that make reviews on amazon are much like the people giving recommendations on here to learn how to hack, but can't program. If you understand what you've learned from the book, utilize it to create programs. Indeed, it may be daunting, C++ is a big language, with huge semantics. |
In what ways is Solaris the best platform for application software development? |
I know fairly good programmers that began coding at 40 >. It's never too late to learn a skill, take your time with it, and run at your own pace. |
Go with one of the UNIXes - assuming that you're hoping to use C/asm which has a simpler/cleaner interface on Linux/*nix not to mention that there are a lot of open source kernel development projects (i.e the GNU/Linux effort) going on in the wild, Windows just can't compete with introductory kernel development for novices due to it's closed-source'ness, and lack of continual development in provision of documentation and kernel based attractions, although it can (and is) done rather commonly, but would natively require you to do a lot more research, and spend a lot more hours. Take a peep at the Linux kernel, earlier revisions and fast track yourself into some of the later ones, look at "Understanding the Linux Kernel", and familiarize yourself with things it does if you want to be a similar kernel. There are documents everywhere. Good luck. |
Your response makes no sense. |
I made one when I was learning C -- it's not that difficult to do; just look at the headers and then classify them accordingly -- see wikipedia for the image extension types you hope you handle, etc |
It depends on what you want to do. I'll labour under the assumption that you just want to do general entry level programming tasks. Personally, I run with Linux/GCC, some prefer MSVS/Windows; it depends on your experience and interests. If you want to do Windows specific programming tasks, then go with that. Most people go with one of the UNIXes, so as to stick with the ANSI specific guidelines unless otherwise specified, i.e GNU-C, Windows adds a lot of specific Windows API centric things that aren't compatible with other OSes. I'd stick with Linux if you hope to be portable. Specify your requirements. |
Funny how AUN (American University of Nigeria -- http://www.aun.edu.ng) isn't on the list. |
@mactao Erm, it's usually a common misdemeanour. "Writing a number when declaring an array of characters isn't illegal in C either" I never said it was, "if it gives you errors, then that's thanks to your compiler". If your compiler is ANSI-C it's usually doing something against the rules specified by ANSI-C. But who cares, you should learn sentence construction -- it took me 4 passes to figure out what you were trying to say. Also If you're unable to learn something without me being nice to you, then you probably don't deserve to learn anyway, |
This depends entirely on your skill and your desires for your OS; Understand that a kernel can have very basic functionality, and can be written in a few hundred lines of code, extending on the capability of it, however, is another complete matter. Understanding kernel based development would lead you to understand how to build such things. |
Beaf:I think that these are Windows specific API suites with a visual studio backend. Consider ANSI/ISO-C specification compilers, like mingw -- then the beginner might choose to consider leveraging availability of OS specific libraries. |
It doesn't need to be by any means official, but then again, it doesn't even surprise me in the slightest that this would possibly be denied. Eh, anyway -- back to watching my tv show. |
