No. Messi was not the first male player to play in six World Cups. Cristiano Ronaldo was the first man to appear in a sixth World Cup in 2026. Messi later joined him as a joint record-holder. Christiano Ronaldo is the only player to score in 6 different men's world cup while Messi is the highest goal scorer though. Both great men and legend and Messi has better achievements at the world cup and Ronaldo's achievement at the Champions league. For me, they are both legends and one's achievements cannot dwarf the other's |
Drebreezer:After consulting a doctor(not for operation) just to rule out any other medical issue, what you need is to manage it especially if it has gotten to protruding flesh a little out after hard stool. Water alone will not solve your problem...you will just be urinating frequently Take fibre rich food.....best among them and for quick result is Quaker Oat. Cook it with lot of water(like you are making pap) and well cooked such that it mixes well with water while on fire. Make it quite watery and let that replace drinking water 70% at least for the first week. After that, you should be fine, the rest is to continue to manage it. Do not do operation, otherwise you can start having poo leaking from your body as you grow old especially with any urge for toilet. You can give update on your journey so that others can benefit from it too. |
There was a point I felt I was on the verge of having high blood pressure on football matters. Since then , I just jejely come eye for my team. I have been enjoying football now irrespective of who loses. |
I called someone( an apolitical indigene) in Osogbo yesterday and I was surprised at her level of readiness to vote for Adeleke. Guess the man is loved and performing. I was even surprised she said she was going to vote. |
If the story is false, prove if India has ever played in FIFA World Cup finals. No — India has never played in the senior FIFA World Cup finals. That is a fact and it was because of the ban. Why the ban? Because they used Juju to beat Nigeria 99-1. You think you can come and spoil the JOKE that was used to serenade our childhood? . Hard task: If you can prove India in a world cup, then I can believe it is a life. |
I created a spillover trend talking about need to rejig and overhaul this program. Can this program pass integrity and transparent test? Can the program boast of the following: 1.Clear program rules, in plain language: eligibility, amounts, payment schedule, how to appeal, and what data is used. 2.Publish a program logic model: what problem it solves, how the benefit is expected to help, and what success looks like. 3.Public reporting dashboard (regular updates): total paid, number of recipients, average payment, region breakdown, and timelines. 4.Disclose administrative cost: cost-to-deliver (admin cost as % of benefits) and service standards (e.g., % paid on time). One thing the government has failed to understand is that programs like this can contribute positively to patriotism and nation-building. It should not be a conduit to corruption. |
There should be verifiable and documented evidence of who can receive, when they can receive. You do not need to know or lobby anyone. We can use income receipts yearly to identify those who deserve it. Program like this give people sense of belonging and patriotism. People in Canada already know that 2026 payment dates are: Jan 5, Apr 2, Jul 3, Oct 5. Such commitment and transparency goes a long way in nation building. |
Nigeria's social safety nets system like National Cash Transfer Programme (NCTP) needs transparency and overhauling especially in a period when the poor are being pushed to pay more through removal of all forms of subsidies from food, energy, taxes, banking, education. A case to emulate is Canada's quest to care for the poor and middle income among the Canadian. See Below: News release February 12, 2026 - Ottawa, Ontario - Department of Finance Canada The global landscape is rapidly changing, leaving economies, businesses, and workers under a cloud of uncertainty. In response, Canada’s new government is focused on what we can control: building a stronger economy to make life more affordable for Canadians. While the government’s plan to build the strongest economy in the G7 takes effect, affordability pressures—especially those related to food—require immediate support for Canadians. Today, following Parliament’s expedited passage of Bill C-19, the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit Act, this legislation received Royal Assent to deliver that support. The new Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit will provide relief to more than 12 million low- and modest-income Canadians, helping them afford day-to-day essentials starting in the spring of 2026. Bill C-19 will: provide a one-time top-up payment to be paid as early as possible this spring—equal to a 50% increase in the annual 2025-26 value of the GST Credit. This will deliver $3.1 billion in immediate assistance to 12 million Canadians who currently get the GST Credit. increase the value of the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit by 25% for five years starting in July 2026. This increase will deliver $8.6 billion in additional support over the 2026-27 to 2030-31 period, including to 500,000 additional individuals and families. Combined, these measures mean a family of four will receive up to $1,890 this year, and about $1,400 annually for the next four years; and a single person will receive up to $950 this year, and about $700 annually for the next four years. Since 2020, food prices have risen faster than overall inflation, costing the average household $782. With this support, Canada’s new government will be offsetting grocery cost increases beyond overall inflation since the pandemic. Quotes “Our new government moved quickly to deliver meaningful support for Canadians. With many people feeling the strain of rising everyday expenses, our government is taking a responsible and pragmatic approach: tackling long-term structural challenges while acting now through Bill C-19 to support those facing cost-of-living pressures through the new Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit. We are building a strong economy where Canadians can feel the benefits of our country’s economic growth, at the checkout counter and in their daily lives.” - The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Finance and National Revenue Quick facts Under the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit: A single senior with $25,000 in net income will receive a one-time top-up of $267 plus a longer-term increase of $136 for the 2026-27 benefit year (total increase of $402). In total, they will receive $950 for the 2026-27 benefit year (including the top-up). A couple with two children with $40,000 in net income will receive a one-time top-up of $533 plus an increase of $272 for the 2026-27 benefit year (total increase of $805). In total, they will receive $1,890 for the 2026-27 benefit year (including the top-up). After the one-time payment is made in the spring of 2026, eligible families and individuals in Canada will receive the enriched regular payments under the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit as of July 2026. The benefit will be paid quarterly, at the start of the quarter, to permit timely access to the funds to help families with day-to-day expenses. These amounts are additional to existing benefits such as the Canada Child Benefit, the Canada Disability Benefit, and the Guaranteed Income Supplement. https://www.canada.ca/en/department-finance/news/2026/02/legislation-passes-to-deliver-new-canada-groceries-and-essentials-benefit.html |

KaptainAfrika:With a lot of high yielding credible naira investments in the country right now some going as high as 25% and the relative stability in the foreign market, I wonder why people will still invest in buying dollars rather than selling it to maximize returns on naira investment. Plus the fact that everything is looking towards naira gaining strength everyday, it is too attractive to sell dollars and investment in naira |

flokii:The good thing about having access to cheap finance at early age cannot be underestimated. Nigeria needs to change the way it makes things hard for ordinary people. Many things are wrong with this country and those things need to be fixed. This guy will have strength and good health to enjoy his car and house for the next 40, 50 years. Compare to an average Nigerian who will have to work for 30 years before being able to afford such a good car and house. At what age will he enjoy them?60,70? |
simpleseyi:How open can the border be when the government has quadrupled the naira to a dollar ? |
Dear nairaland, I sat down now and started wondering about the negative economic effects the various reforms since May 2023 have had on the general cost of living compared to increase in salaries. I have only got an increase of 25% since May 2023 which is nothing to write home about compared to the inflation rate. Then I started thinking maybe my office has been cheating us. Probably some other companies have had their salaries doubled or trippled. Please by what percent has your salaries increased, how have you been coping with this galloping inflation? |
