Honestly, you might need to pay it at some point especially at the University of Pretoria. The only condition for a waiver is that you provide evidence of coming from a low income family that earns less than 120,000 rands (i'm not so sure about the amount) annually. The evidence could be in the form of your parents' pay slip, bank statement or sworn affidavit stating that you're from a low income background. Once you've got your hands on the document(s) scan it and upload it on the portal where they request for application fee on the UP website, they'll investigate it and if it's genuine they'll waive it. Hope this helps.

Hey bro, at first they only require scanned original documents via their university portal but at some point, probably after you receive a provisional admission offer, they would need you to send the original certified copies of your documents by post. For now you don't need to bother about any of that. They'll be the ones to request for it once the time comes.

You have to first gain admission to your desired course of study (these schools sometimes have specific courses they want master card scholars to study) and then you can contact the MasterCard foundation Scholarship at these schools. There are slight differences in procedures between UP and UCT but they are for the most part similar. The only thing is the master card foundation application portal at these schools doesn't open until July especially UCT. UCT's master card office told me they would start on the 20th of July and would take 13 undergraduates and 23 Masters (postgraduate).

I would like to know if anyone has applied to the University of Pretoria and the University of Cape Town and how they did it. I would also appreciate it if you could tell me how you managed to get a waiver for the application fee.
