Travel / Re: I Visited MAKOKO, The Largest Floating Slum In Africa (pics, Video) by ibinaboonline: 3:59pm On Jan 30
I'm laughing at the people saying government should take makoko and do so and so. Gentrification is a poor man's nightmare. If government turns makoko to Atlantic City, what do you think will happen to the poor that calls that place home?

By the way, I'm going to Cotonou for the first time. What would you shop for if you were in Cotonou? Where is their biggest market? Their version of Tejuosho or Eko market?
Travel / Re: The Underrated Cotonou (benin Republic) by ibinaboonline: 1:15pm On Jan 26
I know this is an old post but I still want to ask this question. I'm confused. I thought they say electronics like phones are cheap in Cotonou. So, how come it's now cheaper to buy them in Nigeria than Cotonou? I also heard that cars are cheaper in Cotonou. I'm talking about used electronics and used cars.
Zaksart:
There's so much opportunities in Benin republic and I'll be talking about one today. While growing up we understand that Cotonou is the harbor of good used cars, I even have some friends that got there own cars back then from there.

But one thing a lot of us doesn't know is that Benin republic has room for sales of electronics gadgets and appliance. You see Benin republic, Togo and Ghana is a place you can sell electronics at double or almost double the price you bought your electronics.

But today I'll be focusing on phone sales... This info is coming from an experience electronics and phone repairs engineer. Do you know that
used iphone6 that's been sold here at 35/40k goes for as much as 70/75k in Benin, Togo or Ghana... I even overhead a colleague telling me same old iphone6 goes for 100k in Ghana.

Last year I sold used uk iphone6 for 85k Cefa... That was even when naira has a lil bit of value, but now as you all must have heard Cefa is now superior than Naira in the black market.

I get my used phones or laptop directly from warehouse in Lagos immediately the goods are been offloaded and go to Benin republic to make sells... I am bringing this information here because I'll need a partner that's interested in investing and who's interested so in learning how or where to buy and sale too.

I have invested a lot in yam farming at the beginning of the year and currently short of cash, so for those of you interested in investing please buzz me on WhatsApp at +2349050380553 let's make some good cash.

As I am preparing to enter Benin for business this march... Buzz me let's share profits. Thanks.

Family / Re: My Lil Bro Plays With Girls, How Do I Stop It? by ibinaboonline: 11:42pm On Jan 17
What else did you want to hear? Tufiakwa. He plays with girls like he would with boys. Do you have to imagine something else just because a female is involved? As a man, OP's concerns are clear to me. OP, he's not too young to be with you. Take him away from home and from mommy and his sisters and make him a man. He's too young, though. We usually wait until they're around 14 years old, but this one might merit an exemption.
immortalcrown:
You have not specifically pointed out what is wrong with he playing with the girl. Are you hiding something here? Saying that he may begin to behave like girls is very silly. How many boys that grew up in the midst of girls behave like girls? And what guarantee do you have that a boarding school will not corrupt him?

Hi it's me again. I getting ready to make that trip. Please can you help me with my planning? If we take off from Lagos at night, by what time would we arrive Cotonou? That's assuming GUO does night trips the way they do interstate in Nigeria. If I we take off in the morning, though, what's the typical time of arrival to Cotonou?
fastseo:

No... GUO to Cotonou.
You need to travel to Lagos first.

Thank you for mentioning that. So, I'm happy to tell you most of them are bullet-proof. Also very expensive.

Note: These are not just tough looking cars. These vehicles pack special-ops specs, and the best thing is they can be legally purchased on the market. Whether the Nigerian police leaves you alone is another matter I can't answer. grin

I've just added the rest of the pictures

I recently made a post about the Citroen van purpose-built to be lived in. You can check out the thread below:

https://www.nairaland.com/7969087/car-days-fearing-landlord-over

After reading some comments suggesting how dangerous it is to use such vans in Nigeria, I decided to work on another article focusing on military-grade vehicles that can be purchased by anyone.

We were all heartbroken to hear about the Nabeeha family, the kidnappings, and senseless murders going on in some parts of the country. While the calls for the legalization of firearms are immediately thrown out the window, the vehicles on this list are a source of immense confidence for ordinary people who live or traverse high-risk areas.

As usual, I will only post photos because we don't like to read, but you can follow the link at the bottom of the post to read the details of the vehicles you see here.

Food / Re: Will You Accept This Gift From A Neighbor by ibinaboonline: 9:24pm On Jan 15
So as a young bachelor that just moved into a new apartment, a next door neighbor who happens to be a single female brought this bowl of afang soup as a show of warm welcome.

Would you accept it?

I wonder why you felt the need to point out the bolded.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: When You Are Too Old To Work by ibinaboonline: 9:06pm On Jan 15
These are just the kind of things God looks at and shakes His head. You see how you're spending your youth worrying about how you'll do when you're old. It sounds like planning for the future and all that, but you and I both no nothing is guaranteed. Yes, plan away, but nothing is guaranteed. Jesus said in Luke 12:30,

"For the pagans of this world are always concerned about all these things. Your Father knows that you need these things... Be concerned with his Kingdom, and he will provide you with these things."

I'm not saying you shouldn't plan ahead, but don't get caught in the illusion that you have the future nailed down. Your only confidence about the future should be God.

Those who can afford that don't travel on Nigerian roads.

Not sure what you mean by this.

Be serious mate. Those who can afford that don't travel on Nigerian roads. They are currently crowdfunding for a ransom as we speak for some kidnap victims as we speak.

Seriously? That's one of the best things about the van. It's compact enough to park anywhere you can park a car, unlike am RV that need much more space and even a longer turning radius. The retractable roof don't stay open permanently, you know.

$43k will build a good duplex in Nigeria but not in highbrow areas though.
Car Talk / Re: If You Have This Car, Your Days Of Fearing Landlord Is Over by ibinaboonline: 9:05pm On Jan 13
By big rigs, I suppose you're referring to RVs, right? They're certainly great for their purposes but are in a different territory from what this van is made for. I get your point, though. The nomad life isn't for everyone. And yes, you're right, $43,000 should pay for a duplex in Nigeria. Wow.
laivwire:

I am familiar with the van life and that's the reason I said you have to offload your stuff every few days.

Talking about a duplex, $43,000 would build a duplex in Nigeria here. In comparison, if you're to go for the big rigs that are more spacious than this mid size van, you would be spending a pretty penny.
Car Talk / Re: If You Have This Car, Your Days Of Fearing Landlord Is Over by ibinaboonline: 8:53pm On Jan 13
I couldn't have said it better.
ravensckar:
How to identify a typical Nigerian; they don't read about a topic before commenting. angry angry

Firstly, it's a CAMPING VAN to provide travellers/campers with maximum comfort in the road. They never said it's a substitute for permanent apartment. Make una dey try read before una comment nau. angry angry

Secondly, travelling from Lagos to Maiduguri in this VAN will definitely be much more comfortable than travelling in normal vehicles (insecurity aside). That's the point! Unless of course you prefer to suffer, this is definitely a much more comfortable travelling car for those who can afford it. Calling it a waste of money (for those who can afford it) is a display of ignorance. Na new year be this abeg, make una dey think before una type.
Car Talk / Re: If You Have This Car, Your Days Of Fearing Landlord Is Over by ibinaboonline: 8:42pm On Jan 13
Valid points, that is until you realize how much this van is expected to cost.

They cost as much as a duplex but can't contain jack.

It has an estimated starting price of $43,000. Not quite the price of a duplex. You couldn't even buy the Ram Trackhawk with that.

Don't forget to offload your excrements and reload (limited) water ever 2 days as well.

This van comes with double strategically installed 10-liter tanks. One for clean water storage, and the other for waste water from the kitchen sink and stuff.

Buses for money miss road people smiley

πŸ˜„πŸ˜„It's actually for the Van Life. You know what that is, right?

laivwire:
In that case, move your wife and children plus yourself into the van. I believe y'all will live comfortably.

These RVs are just pointless to me. They cost as much as a duplex but can't contain jack. Tiny bed, tiny kitchen and living space. Don't forget to offload your excrements and reload (limited) water ever 2 days as well.

Buses for money miss road people smiley
