I studied Computer Sc (HND, Nigeria), Information Tech(BSc, UK) and MSc Business Analysis and Consulting(UK). My opinion: I decided to study BAC based on my love for crunching numbers /Analysis and helping SMEs and Startups grow, my belief was that I could make an impact in Nigeria. Unfortunately, Nigeria has not really gotten that level; you spend more time convincing orgs and people on why they need your services than actually getting the job done. Just like you I get bored easily; as much as you love excellence, you actually need to be consistent. Howbeit, for you to succeed in Nigeria as a Management Consultant, you need to know the right people and be an excellent Salesman. I'll advice you complete your medical program as this gives you more leverage to consult in the Health sector. While doing this, find mentors in the Business and Management Consulting sectors, take free Analytical, Strategy and management courses on Coursera, learn french, Spanish, German or Mandarin, acquire few years of work experience in your field , intern for a few months in a consulting firm, get a MBA in a prestigious school , network, network and network. . . PROs: As a management consultant, you get to work on different projects, meet celebrities/top-notch Managers, explore the world, get very RICH and have fun. CONs: sleep deprivation, the higher you go ---less family time, might have to do the unthinkable to get or keep stupid clients happy (Imagine you're a marketer). Good-luck |
I could do business/ strategy consulting for Individuals, SMEs and Corporate orgs for free .... (But then this is Nigeria; how do I pay my rent, Internet and Electricity bills?) |
My tips: budget only 500000 to start... that's if you have a million right now. 2. Take two weeks to visit key busy areas in Abuja 3. Conduct very comprehensive market research... e.g the type of people or category of people in such areas.. what products or service will they need that is presently not available or not enough.. what will be your niche? Why will people want to buy from you? Finally make sure it's something you'll be passionate doing.. you don't want to dive.into a Biz u don't like.. Holla me for.more tips via my signature. All th best |
