It's simple before the photocopies can be certified to be a true copy of the original, you have to present the original copy for confirmation. The original will always be yours. I have done this before, it's a lot easier than you imagine. In fact, I would advice you have about five certified copies in case you might need it for other application

HealthA Love Letter To Patients by IbnIbrahim(op): 11:03pm On Sep 10, 2017
This is a letter to everyone who has ever smiled, shrugged their shoulders, or nodded while either hesitantly or enthusiastically uttering the words, “Yes,” “Sure,” “OK,” “I guess so,” or, “Of course,” when a medical student has asked if he or she can talk to and examine you before your doctor comes in. We know that you are busy and that your time has value. We know that you have every right to decline, and it is ok with us if you do.

However, we are grateful to those of you who let us into your lives — even if only for a few minutes. We love hearing about your recent trip to the beach, your first day at your new job, and your opinion of the pumpkin craze that happens every fall. You entrust us with details of your lives that you would not tell anyone else. You generously allow us to be present when life begins and when it ends.

In the time we spend together, you teach us things that a textbook cannot. We may know how a disease affects the human body, but you live with the conditions that we read about. Words on a page will never do your experiences justice. Books do not tell us about how mundane tasks like opening a jar of peanut butter become a struggle for arthritic hands. They do not tell us about how you get up earlier in the morning than your friends do so that you can put on a vest to help clear your lungs because you have cystic fibrosis. They leave out any mention of how your chronic disease has a ripple effect that extends to your family, your friends, and even your community. If you ceased to share your stories with us, we would never learn some of the most important things about the art of medicine.

Medicine is complex, and we also must practice our skills many times to become proficient. You may watch us as we fumble with an otoscope the first few times we do ear exams, as we use an incorrectly sized blood pressure cuff, or as we realize a minute too late that we should have gotten a piece of tape ready to go before we started your IV. We try our very best, but we are still learning. Sometimes, you offer words of encouragement, telling us that we are doing a good job and wishing us luck with our studies. We appreciate your understanding as well as your kind words.

On behalf of all of us, thank you. You may not realize it, but you give us something that we can never repay you for: you make us better doctors.

Jobs/Vacancies9 Application Tips For 2018 Mandela Washington Fellowships For Africans by IbnIbrahim(op): 9:51pm On Sep 10, 2017
The Mandela Washington Fellowships for Young African Leaders empowers young people through academic coursework, leadership training, and networking. It is not designed to help Fellows identify funding for projects or organizations.

Are you thinking of applying to the 2018 Mandela Washington Fellowship? The application season is fast approaching, so begin to prepare now! The YALI Network Team interviewed 2017 Mandela Washington Fellows and asked them to share their advice on putting together a successful application.

1. Advocate for Yourself
When you are timid or shy, you don’t fully explain what you have accomplished through your activities. You are not demonstrating who you really are and how you’re a leader in your community or within your organization. Your written application needs to be able to stand out in a large pool of applicants.

2. Reach Out
Don’t wait for someone to come to you and give you advice — take initiative and seek it. There are many Mandela Washington Fellows looking to help prospective applicants. Look up past Fellows and find their contact information, send them an email, or drop them a Facebook message and introduce yourself.

3. Visit yali.state.gov
When filling in their application, current Fellows found the online blog posts and FAQ page very helpful.

4. Take Your Time.
Start early and familiarize yourself with the application questions. Do not rush your application or try to complete it at the last minute.

5. Be Specific and Truthful.
Narrow down your focus. It’s great that you’re interested in a lot of different projects, but make sure to emphasize your expertise on a certain topic. Know your projects, know your passion. Don’t pretend to be interested in something you’re not.

6. Be Resourceful.
If internet access is scarce or expensive, find a place to print out the application forms and fill out the answers directly on the form. This also gives you a chance to reflect on and refine your responses. Once you have finalized your answers, go back online and fill in the application based on what you already wrote.

7. Ask For Help.
Find someone (or a couple of people) to review your application and provide feedback, especially if English is not your native language.

8. Take a Chance!
If you’re reading this list, you’re already a step ahead! You’re here because you want to better your community — believe in yourself and what you can do, and apply!

9. Stay Cautiously Optimistic.

Applying for the Fellowship doesn’t guarantee you’ll get it. (Last year there were more than 64,000 applicants!) Having realistic expectations can help you articulate your goals and what you would hope to achieve through the Fellowship. Keep in mind that there are a lot of other opportunities open to you under the YALI program aside from the Fellowship — like the Regional Leadership Centers and YALI Network courses and resources.

Social media has become a major marketing tool for businesses. But new platforms are popping up all the time, and the old ones are always changing their features. As a freelance social media expert, you can help companies understand how to use Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, and every other platform to reach their business goals.

Better yet, you can start your own blog and attract traffic with your posts. Then start monetizing it to turn it into a real business. For instance, I had one of my blogs making $9k a month, then I got an offer from and sold it to a group of U.S. investors for $280,000 last year.

3. Teaching

Entrepreneurs need to wear multiple hats if they are going to succeed.

And that’s why you will never find a single learning platform online that covers all the bases.

You need to go out of your way to diversify if you want to keep learning as a busy entrepreneur and find the best platforms for you in relation to all the skills you need for your business.

These are 10 of the best online learning platforms to help you hone your entrepreneurial skills and prepare for the life you want.
1. CodeAcademy

Bootstrapping entrepreneurs need to consider the fact that they will have to know a little bit about web design and web development in order to customize their online platform. The CodeAcademy is a free resource to help you do this. Create a free account and you can save your progress as you go.

This is perfect for learning some of the major languages, such as CSS, HTML, and PHP. By learning even the basics of coding, you can fix basic bugs and make minor changes without the need to consult a coder.

2. HubSpot Academy

The HubSpot Academy is a free certification for a range of issues, including inbound marketing and the creation of landing pages. These skills are necessary for any business, and they are even good to know for the future if you happen to work for someone else.

It’s by far one of the most comprehensive courses available, plus it’s constantly receiving updates as the playing field shifts. It’s an ideal resource that will make you a better entrepreneur.

3. Moz

Every smart entrepreneur is well aware of the value of Moz. Their introductory guides on SEO and content marketing are legendary. Any entrepreneur who is new to the game should pick out this resource. But there’s more to look at than the guides on their website.

One resource you have to check out is the Moz Academy. The Moz Academy is a free platform that gives you live and recorded webinars to view. There are guides on everything from link building to social media. The Moz Academy regularly attracts guest contributors from across the web.

4. Souters Training

An administration is a huge part of what it is to be a successful entrepreneur. The Souters Training organization has been offering training courses in office skills and administration since 1988. They offer courses and certification pieces of training on skills that are relevant to management, business development and the modern workplace.

Courses available include taking audio transcriptions, typing, and taking minutes.

5. LearnVest

The reason why some entrepreneurs succeed while others fail is money management. If you can’t manage your money, you are never going to get the success you want. If you overspend, you are going to find yourself out of business. Smart spending can grow your business into a success.

The LearnVest lessons available aren’t free, however, but they are affordable. You can still find the How to Budget and Building Better Money Habits classes for free, though.

6. Niche Consultant Courses

Sometimes you don’t need to look for platforms you need to look for individual practitioners. Some great practitioners offering niche courses from their websites include MyOwnBusiness and Natalie MacNeil. Try to use Google to search for specific courses in your niche.

The problem with a lot of online platforms is they simply don’t offer the niche courses many advanced entrepreneurs require.

7. edX

edX is one of the largest free online learning platforms for entrepreneurs around. On here you will find more than 300 courses, including those on Entrepreneurship 101 and Financial Analysis and Decision Making.

There are general business courses and more specific business courses. What makes this platform stand out from the rest is the fact that it’s perfect for both beginners and intermediates. You will even find industry-specific courses, such as those on environmental conservation.
8. Khan Academy

The Khan Academy is one of the most well-known providers of online training on this list. They offer everything from courses in math to history to art. They also offer interactive exercises and courses on technology. These lessons are geared toward use in the workplace.

They tend to take the format of a whiteboard, where the teacher speaks and draws out diagrams of the concepts they are explaining onto the whiteboard. The Khan Academy is ideal for visual learners and audio learners who need to keep their skills sharp.

Many of these courses can seem basic since the Khan Academy is geared toward high school students, but the courses on taxes and accounting can be a great introduction for entrepreneurs.
9. MIT Open Courseware

MIT became one of the first universities to provide their courses online for free. Entrepreneurs can take advantage of this offer with MIT Open Courseware. What makes these courses so interesting is that these are the courses actually taught to students of this college.

Recently, the school opened up a page specifically for entrepreneurs. These are the courses that MIT believe will be relevant to new business owners. There are comprehensive lessons on software and the early state capital.

10. Kutztown University of Pennsylvania

The Kutztown University of Pennsylvania is another higher education institution that has decided to make its courses available for free. This university has 100 on-demand courses available entirely free of charge. The reason why Kutztown has been singled out is that they offer courses that are perfect for entrepreneurs.

For example, they offer comprehensive courses on business planning and small business taxes.

Conclusion: Choosing Your Course

All 10 of these learning platforms had to fulfil some key criteria before they were included on this list. The main factor was that they had to be updated on a regular basis with useful content. Entrepreneurs have to be extremely careful of choosing outdated courses because they could get them into trouble.

When choosing a course to help you evolve as an entrepreneur, make sure that it’s applicable to your current situation. Go out of your way to inspect reviews of the course and see what others are saying first. Your time is precious and you should treat it that way.

Which of the learning platforms listed here will you try out first?

HealthWhat Patients Want To Know About Their Prognosis by IbnIbrahim(op): 12:59am On Aug 22, 2017
Everyone immersed in the culture of medicine knows that physicians sometimes defer the discussion about prognosis to patients who are battling a life-threatening illness. Everyone, that is, except the patient. We arrive on your doorstep believing that our presence indicates the obvious. So, how are we to know that we have to ask for something as life altering and important as a prognosis? Deferring to the patient for prognostic discussion occurs among health care professionals so much so that it has become lost on the most important person of all. The one who has the illness. The one who may lose his or her life, and the one who needs to make decisions based on the facts — not false hopes or useless treatments.

Not every physician elects to leave the discussion about the prognosis for a life-threatening illness up to the patient, but far too many do. Putting off the necessary conversation does nothing to soften the blow that for some, will inevitably come later in the disease process. It is too late when it is time for hospice. Patients no longer have the time or energy to carry out that which is important to them, and they will go to their grave in angst over what could have been.

So, what do patients want from their physicians when communicating prognostic information? Unless we have informed you otherwise, we want your total honesty. Tell us what you know. We do not want to hear that you cannot predict exactly what will happen during the course of our illness. That is not what we are asking. We want to know, statistically, how does this disease at the stage we are presenting, usually unfold. We understand that you cannot provide a locked-in concrete answer. We are still dealing with probabilities in the early phase of our illness. We need to hear what could happen and what is likely to happen, with no guarantees, in order to make preparations for what could either be a negative or a positive outcome.

If patients want the truth, and they do, then they also want their own doctor to be the one to deliver it. Leaving this discussion for a resident physician is not something that we will appreciate unless the resident physician has been our primary caregiver. First of all, if we hear a poor prognosis from someone less experienced than you, we are not going to believe it anyway. We do not want it to be true, and if our attending physician has not mentioned it, then perhaps this less experienced physician is mistaken in their assessment of our condition. Likewise, if we catch you by surprise during morning rounds having received such a disclosure from an intern or resident, do not try to minimize the disclosure unless it was overstated. As dismayed as we may be, we do not want you to change the facts to make us feel better. We trust you, and the problem with falsehood is that once it is discovered, we can never believe anything else you say. That would effectively be the end of our doctor-patient relationship, and if we are in crises, that is the last thing we need at the moment.

Choose your words carefully. Once spoken, you cannot take them back. At a local community hospital where I was once employed, I overheard a physician tell a patient that she had to stop chemotherapy. When the patient asked what else the doctor was going to try, he said, “Nothing,” and abruptly left the room. The patient burst into tears. As patients, we would prefer something a little more subtle. In contrast, it was once my good fortune to hear an experienced oncologist say the following to a dying patient:

You aren’t responding to treatment as well as I had hoped, and the chemotherapy is making you very sick. Let’s discontinue treatment for now until you are feeling better. We can revisit your medical status in a week, and we can talk about your options then.

If you have already engaged the patient in an honest assessment about the progression of their disease, the meaning of the above conversation will not be lost. Over the next week, we will go over the possibilities in our own mind. Although we may be disappointed, it will come as no surprise if you recommend that no further curative treatment be pursued. The one to two week period between conversations gives the patient time to slowly absorb the shock and to come to terms with the realization that they may be losing the battle with their disease before they have to face the concrete determination.

Consequently, what we want most during the course of our illness is YOU. We acknowledge that you are only one person, we are not your only patients, and there are only so many hours in a day. But when things go south, we want our own physician. We understand that we will not always have the advantage of your physical presence, but we want to know that you are up to date with our medical status. If we are in the hospital, we want to know that the culture of collaboration between you and your colleagues is such that we can rely on them in your absence. Patients want to know, that in your absence, every aspect of their care will be covered. They do not want to have to worry that another physician, who doesn’t know them, will arrive and disregard your orders.

If you strive to do the very best that you can, it will be enough. You will have your patients’ loyalty and gratitude for your efforts, regardless of their personal outcome.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Gain New Skills Wih These 6 Free Certified Courses by IbnIbrahim: 9:43am On Aug 15, 2017
In what world can a 10 hour online diploma course with Shaw be on the same level as a diploma from a prestigious university that takes 2 years to complete.

If people are doing these courses with SHAW in the belief that they can use them on their CV to gain employment in whatever field they have an interest in they are fooling themselves.

No employer will take these qualifications seriously and it may do more harm than good. SHAW whohuh 10 hours online!! Seriously!!!..Are you having a laugh!!!

How could you possibly be qualified in anything after 10 hours! It is proven that to be an expert in anything you need to dedicate 10,000 hours to the subject matter. So that’s 0.001% from Shaw. Yes, Only in your own mind will you be qualified.
