Car Talk / Re: Does The Police Force Has The Jurisdiction To Ask For Driver's License? by IbnIbrahim: 4:45pm On Dec 16, 2023
DamnnNiggarr:
Do police have the jurisdiction to demand nor ask for driver's license?

I was highly frustrated today, while I was on my way rushing to an event to meet up with the 10:00 AM deadline for the event which I was also the chairman, a group of some fiercely-looking police officers flagged down my vehicle and I slowed down.

One of the officers came towards my vehicle, ordered me to come out from the car and started demanding for my driver's license. I was like, what is going on?

In as much as I am aware that police officers have taken it upon themselves to be asking people for their vehicle particulars, which is a good way of tracking stolen cars, they asked for it and I provided it, but asking people for their driver's license is what I think is out of the picture.

I tried to exercise my right as a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by briefly dragging it with them initially, which I think this issue of police asking for driver's license had raised dust sometime ago, but I realized that I'm still in Nigeria, last last, I settled with 5k, this is with abeg o, after several hours and minutes had gone by, I arrived the event place by 01:15 PM, an event slated for 10:00 AM.

like I said earlier, asking for car particulars from people by the police is good, but asking for driver's license is where I think the issue lies. I thought anything that has to do with checking of drivers license is strictly under the jurisdiction of the FRSC?

I'm feeling nothing but anger and cheated which gave rise to many questions going through my mind;
Who gave the police officers the jurisdiction to be asking for driver's license?
Is there any amended law(s) that granted the police force that power?

Nothing in the law gives the NPF to demand for vehicle particulars. We just live a lawless country where government officials want to use their privileged position to enrich themselves. It is quite sad.

The smartest migrate or are snapped up by Multinationals and high paying and high earning companies in critical roles of which Nigeria already had a high poverty and poor purchasing power problem so most companies are not.in that league

Some dont have soft skills or interview skills or job
Schools to are not optimised to produce high ranking students

The companies And organisations that earn billions and pay high like Mobil, Shell, Seplat ,NNPC , CBN, NPA cannot employ every single Nigerian graduate

The rest companies are left to pick from the candidates

Some times some candidates are a diamond πŸ’Ž found in the rough

Sometimes some companies are a diamond found in the rough as in good management and good staff treatment.

That explains everything

The purpose of a company is to create goods and products and services that customers would pay for and keep coming back to repurchase

All employees are to work to achieve that aim and paid from the revenue pool as the company would also pay other bills like machinery, Internet, advertising, stationery, electricity etc

An interesting experience I had during the covid period was that many so-called graduates can't even find their way around using Zoom platform for a virtual interview, it was so frustrating that I had to resort to doing phone interview.

- 'to steal their ideas'
means I'm writing about job applicants who are intelligent.
Later one wld discover that the ideas or solutions that was shared by an applicant is being used or implemented by the company. That is intellectual theft and being done to job seekers makes it more debasing.

How are you sure that their ideas or solutions are being used? What objective parameter(s) did use in coming to that conclusion. One thing I have observed in my entrepreneurial journey is that we live in a fast-paced world, if you think you have an idea, someone else is already executing or about to execute the idea.

What do you suggest that Zelensky do!?
As we all know, whatever he does will not return Cremia, Donbas, Oddessa or the sea ports to Ukraine. Ukraine will become landlocked and economically crippled!

Thanks

What they should do?
They should negotiate in the interest of peace. Perhaps, if we were to be their citizens, we would clamoring for peace by whatever means possible.

To me, the actual big deal is that he could do all this without the usual grounding of the country from the big boys of the industry benefiting from all this.

When Bloomberg praised Tinubu yesterday, they did not do that because he removed all these things but they specifically mentioned that he was able to maintain stability and peace after removal, something that usually lead to chaos whenever any government try to do that since 2003.

I think he was able to achieve this because he got lot of loyalists in all corners of society. From the street, business world, Labour world, trenches, politics, international community, and etc.

No president can get away with removing fuel subsidy & unifying exchange rate in 2 weeks without sparking massive protest that would have grounded the economy. Tinubu mandate is divine.
It is, but some people seem not to understand that

Health / Re: Why Do Nigerian Dentists Always Suggest Extraction? by IbnIbrahim: 9:28pm On Jan 09, 2021
JBArokonkwo1:

There are alot of factors to consider before opting for a root canal treatment.
They are
1. Cost: Root canal is not a cheap procedure and after its completion the tooth needs to be crowned(capped). This ideally in a govt hospital cost nothing less than 50k in Nigeria. Also it requires multiple visits.
2. Availability of equipment: Some centers don't have x-ray machines and an ideal root canal treatment requires minimum of four x-rays. This may make it impossible to carry out.
3. Tooth health status: Not all teeth are restorable. Many are badly broken down so much that the prognosis for a root canal treatment may be very poor.
4. Tooth support: the bony support for a tooth may be inadequate to hold a tooth and root canal may not be feasible......

Listen,I am a uniben trained dentist currently working in England and I can tell you I have many our my Nigerian dentists working with the NHS here and doing very well.

Please next time let your brain do the thinking first before engaging ur fingers.....u sound very unintelligent with what u posted.

Thank you brother, we know their type.
Health / Re: Why Do Nigerian Dentists Always Suggest Extraction? by IbnIbrahim: 9:24pm On Jan 09, 2021
gaeul:
I honestly don't know of it's Laziness or what but Nigeria Doctors always go for the last option which is Extraction.

They would rather opt for Extraction and would never suggest root canal treatment, even if a person have removed 4teeths, they will still opt for Extraction.

Most developed country would be happy to do all they can and when there is no way out again before they opt for Extraction. Keeping as much natural teeth as possible is the best, why then do Nigeria dentist always opt for Extraction?

Sadly, if you insist on restorative measures, the will tagged you stubborn patient. Tired much.
This opinion of yours is too generalistic. Let's start from conducting a survey, how many people here know about Root canal treatment.
That being said, the awareness is poor, most Nigerians come to the dentists with grossly broken do teeth, which in most cases aren't amenable to RCT. Mind you, RCT is just a step in saving a tooth, what's more important is how that tooth will function after RCT. Furthermore, RCT is expensive and time consuming, tell a patient he/she has to spend like 100k to save a tooth, they will be like, just an ordinary tooth, please remove the tooth. To say dentists are lazy is very unfair.

Health / Re: Would You Receive The COVID-19 Vaccine If Offered Today? by IbnIbrahim: 11:21am On Jan 03, 2021
Baoo4eva:
It would be nice to see what nigerian feel about receiving the covid vaccine.

I have received my first jab as I work for the NHS in UK and now have to wait for the second jab as there are uncertainty about the timing of the second jab.
Would like to know if Nigerians would be happy to receive the covid vaccine and which of vaccines
A bit of a background
The WHO has given emergency authorization for the use of the pfizer/biotech vaccine meaning this would be available for use in developing countries who don't have their own internal mechanism for such decisions, Nigeria inclusive.
Also, the Astrazeneca vaccine has being approved in some countries such as the UK and recently ,India. It may well be on course for WHO to approve it , this would be a vaccine for use in developing nations as it's easier to store and transport unlike the pfizer/biotech that needs temperature of less than -70degrees.
And there are many more vaccines still in various states of trials, 49 of them are already named.
The federal government is planning to spend 400billion naira on vaccine , but it is very important to see what opinions are , if people are willing to receive the jab or not.
Studies conducted by the FDA in the USA shows that African-Americans are less likely to receive the jab with as low as 4 in 10 saying they would receive the jab.
So, would you be happy to receive the jab??

I will receive it without any hesitation
