The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso has made promises following the unveiling of his manifesto on Tuesday.

He pledged that he would ensure that all entry examinations into tertiary institutions were free for Nigerians.

According to him, his administration, if elected in 2023, would ensure that parents do not pay a dime as registration fees for the West African Examination Council, WAEC, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and National Examination Council.

Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, said these his manifesto currently being presented to the public in Abuja.

Aside from ensuring free examination forms, Kwankwaso said JAMB results under his government will have a lifespan of four years .

The NNPP presidential candidate also pledged to mop up the 20 million out-of-school children in Nigeria in the next four years.

In the document, Kwankwaso maintained that examination bodies are not revenue generating agencies and must not operate as such.

He described as misnomer notion that any examination body will generate income and contribute to the federation accounts

Wike donates 25 buses to Benue PDP campaign team, says Ortom

Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers has donated 25 buses to the campaign team of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue, according to Gov Samuel Ortom.

Ortom, who disclosed this on Tuesday in Makurdi during the inauguration of the party’s campaign council, said that each of the 23 local governments would get a bus.

“Wike has also promised to be in Makurdi for the flag-off of the campaigns slated for Monday,” Ortom said.

He thanked Wike for always standing with Benue people both in good and bad moments.

He said that if the Presidential candidate of the party addresses the challenges rocking the party, all PDP members would work together to rescue Nigeria, declaring that he had no issues with any candidate of the party.

He encouraged the national leadership of the party to listen to the voice of reason and address the burning issues raised by the five governors.

“All I and my colleagues want is for the committee of the whole house to address the issues holistically.

“If the issues that the five governors raised are not resolved, I cannot guarantee what will happen during the presidential election,” he said.

The Acting Chairman of the party in the state, Mr Isaac Mffo, assured the gathering that PDP would win the 2023 polls, stressing that the party had no opposition in Benue.

Dr Cletus Tyokyaa, Director General of the Campaign Council, who spoke on behalf of the members, said that everything would be done to market the candidates toward victory.

“Now that we have been inaugurated, we will set the ball rolling in order to achieve great results,” Tyokyaa assured.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested some members of an alleged cyber-fraud syndicate with N326 million and $610,500 cash.

The commission said in a statement on Tuesday that the syndicate included the Kogi State House of Assembly candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Ismaila Atume.

Mr Atume was arrested along with an alleged serial fraudster, Joshua Dominic, in a sting operation, at Macedonia Street, Queens Estate, Karsana, Gwarinpa, Abuja, on 30 October, the anti-graft agency’s statement stated

The statement signed by EFCC’s spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, said Mr Atume was arrested with the naira component of the funds and cash sum of $140,500.

It added that EFCC operatives recovered $470,000 from a former bank employee, Abdumalik Salau Femi, in Lagos on Tuesday.

The statement said Mr Femi, who allegedly supplied inside information that facilitated a cyber-attack on a bank by the syndicate, was picked up on Tuesday at Radisson Blu Hotel in Lagos.

After Mr Femi’s arrest, the EFCC said, a search warrant was “conducted on his home in Morgan Estate, Ojodu” where the money was said to have been recovered.

The recovery brought the total amount of dollar components of the money recovered from the syndicate to $610,000, so far, according to the press statement.

The commission said Mr Atume is seeking to represent Ankpa 11 Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly.

“The arrest of the suspects followed months of investigation into the hacking of one of the commercial banks by a syndicate of fraudsters who pulled off a heist of N1.4 billion,” the statement read in part.

It accused the syndicate of moving N887 million into the account of Fav Oil and Gas Limited, from where the fund was disbursed to several Bureau de Change operators and some auto dealers for exchange into United States dollars and purchase of high-end cars.

The EFCC said the suspects will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.

Previous arrest
The commission said Mr Dominic, a self-styled investment expert, had been previously arrested by the police for an alleged N2 billion investment scam.

According to the EFCC, he defrauded over 500 persons in a phoney investment scheme.

“Dominic, who has severally (sic) been arrested for fraud, allegedly helped Atumeyi perfect the hacking plan through Abdumalik. Dominic, a self-styled investment expert and managing director of Brisk Capital Limited was arrested in May 2021 by the Special Fraud Unit of the Nigeria Police for an alleged N2billion investment scam. He allegedly defrauded over 500 persons in a phony investment scheme.


“Two Range Rover Luxury SUVs were also recovered from the two suspects arrested in Abuja.”

Rising cyber-attacks on banks
The EFCC also expressed concerns over rising spate of cyber-attacks on banks and the reluctance of the institutions to report such breaches to law enforcement.

A former aviation minister in Nigeria, Mbazulike Amaechi, is dead, the family has announced.

The late Amaechi was a minister in the First Republic.

A statement issued Tuesday by his eldest son, Ezeana Amaechi, on behalf of the family, said the elder statesman died in the early hours of the day.

“With total deference to the will of the Almighty God, the Ume Amaechi, Ezeana Ihidede families and Umu Mmara kindred of Amihe Ukpor in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State announce the peaceful transition of our illustrious son, father and grandfather, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi,” the statement read in part.

“We thank God for the fulfilled life that he lived, the lives he touched and service to God and country,” the family added.

He was 93 years old.

His death occurs about one year after he lost his wife, Chinelo Amaechi.

Chinelo died at the age of 91 years.

Nollywood actress, Judy Austin’s ex-husband, Obasi Emmanuel, has claimed that he is the one who fathered the child that she welcomed with her new hubby, Yul Edochie.

He had earlier taken to social media to accuse Judy and Yul of denying him access to his children.

The Borno Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old housewife, Fatima Abubakar, for allegedly killing her husband, Goni Abbah with poison.

The Commissioner Of Police, Mr Abdu Umar, who disclosed this to the News men in Maiduguri, on Sunday, October 30, said that the suspect was arrested on October 19 by men of the Command at Anguwan Doki.

Umar said that the victim, who was the Chief Imam of the area, returned from the mosque when the suspect, who was the second wife, allegedly mixed poison in his food.

The CP explained that as soon as Goni started eating, his condition deteriorated.

The victim was immediately rushed to the State Specialist Hospital where he was given emergency medical attention, but unfortunately, he later d!ed when they returned home.

The commisioner of Police immediately deployed men of the Criminal Investigation to arrest the suspect after the incident was reported by the family of the victim at the GRA Police Station.

On arrival, the police witnessed large numbers of aggrieved youths in the neighbourhood who stormed the home of the victim with the intention to lynch the suspect but the police were able to bring the situation under control.

As campaigns for the 2023 general elections enter full gear, a prominent member of the Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Council, Kenneth Okonkwo, has said that it is a no-contest for LP’s flag bearer, Peter Obi.

In an interview on Channels TV, Okonkwo, a veteran Nollywood actor, noted that Mr Obi has already won by polls conducted by independent bodies.

In September, the ‘Living in Bondage’ actor made headlines when he said the presidential candidates of the PDP and APC, Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu, should step down for Mr Obi.

In a recent interview, Okonkwo said the results of three polls conducted by the Anap Foundation, We Together and Bloomberg show that Mr Obi is progressively taking the lead.

“In the first one, he scored 23. In the second one, he scored 53, and in the third one, 75.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has dared the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu to stop the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom or any other candidate of the party from contesting the 2023 general elections saying that the former President of the Senate is just playing to the gallery and has no power to do so.
