Politics / Why Is Nigeria Releasing Hundreds Of Boko Haram Members Back Into Society? by ibson99(m): 7:02pm On Jul 20, 2020
The government said those released were repentant former militants who have gone through the Deradicalisation, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration (DRR) program and are now set to be reintegrated into society.

But to most Nigerians, this is simply a bad idea.

Its a new dawn in Africa, the wars have ended, the soldiers have returned to their barracks, democracy is in full swing, and economic growth is at its highest.

script:
Africa has come a long way since the year 2000 when The Economist published this magazine branding the continent as hopeless.

Since the turn of the century, countries in sub-Saharan Africa achieved a growth rate of 6.2%, by comparison, that is twice the growth rate of countries in Latin America during the same time period.

In 2015, 5 of the 10 economies who grew the most where in Africa, these are; The Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Rwanda, and The Democratic Republic of Congo. The growth rate of these countries exceeded 7%.
All of these growths have led to some significant social consequences. Life expectancy has increased significantly over the last decade, child mortality figures and those dying from starvation has been cut in half.

Extreme poverty used to affect 58% of the population in 1999 now it is decreased to just 35%.

It is still true that more than 420million people are still suffering from extreme poverty in Africa, which is tragic but fortunately, the future is brighter than ever.

One thing is certain, Africa is going to have a major global role over the coming decades.

Covid-19 and the events of 2020 might be threatening to slow down all these hard-won progress.

This is a quick look at some of the fine individuals leading Africa away from its troubled past into a glorious future.

Ghana’s President Nana Akufo Addo came to power in after defeating the then incumbent in 2016, President Akufo Addo who is passionate about the development of his nation beyond aids says this requires a deliberate and qualitative change.

In 2018, a Canada based research organization named Akufo Addo as Africa’s best president. The organization said Addo has been a man of the people since he won the 2016 elections, with policies such as free secondary education, planting for food, and jobs among others.
He was also praised for his commitment to the development of Ghana, the near absence of corruption allegations under his rule, and his government’s respect for the rule of law.

All these policies have shaped Ghana into a top tourist destination, attracting up to 1.5 million visitors every year.

If Africa were a country, then Paul Kagame will most likely be its president.
When Kagame became president in the year 2000 after a brutal genocide that killed almost 1 million people, he had two clear goals; unify the country’s ethnic groups and pull the country out of the extreme poverty that affects up to 90% of the population at the time.

20 years later these goals have been reached, the country is stable, prosperous, unified, and in large part reconciled.
Social services such as education, healthcare, housing, and livestock are provided to the needy with no distinction of ethnicity or region.

Macky Sall has been Senegal’s president since 2012when his coalition defeated the then incumbent Abdoulaye Wade.
In January 2016, Sall supported proposed constitutional reforms that would limit any president to two consecutive terms of office, and reduce the term of office from seven years to five years.

Since his elections in 2012, Sall has focused on major infrastructure projects. He portrayed himself as a modernizer, who has helped to boost economic growth to more than 6% a year, one of the highest rates in Africa.
There are two major infrastructure projects worth mentioning;
One is the 1.9km Senegambia Bridge constructed over the river Gambia which provides an important link allowing people from the north of Senegal to reach the south with ease.

The second major project is the Museum of Black Civilizations inaugurated in the capital, Dakar.
The idea of this museum has been in the works for more than 50 years. Construction was finally made possible after a $34million Chinese investment in 2018.
The museum has room for some 18,000 artworks, and the directors of the institution hope to fill that space with looted African arts, most of which currently sit in European museums.

Business / Dangote Oil And Gas Refinery Explained by ibson99(m): 10:10pm On Jul 04, 2020
Upon completion, the Dangote oil refinery will have the capacity to refine 650, 000 barrels of crude oil a day making it Africa's biggest oil refinery and the world's biggest single-train facility. It will also be producing fertilizer as well as other petrochemical products.

The facility is projected to create 70,000 jobs and save Nigeria 10 billion dollars in foreign exchange.

Currently, Nigeria is Africa's top oil producer and oil is the government's biggest source of revenue, about 70 percent of government revenue comes from oil.

Nigeria sits on an estimated 37 billion barrels of crude oil, but the country still relies on importing petroleum products due to a lack of functional refineries.

This is a quick look at how a single project can perhaps change an entire country's fortunes and set it on a new path.

In 2013, Africa's wealthiest man Aliko Dangote signed a multi-million dollar deal with banks to finance the building of his Dangote refinery and petrochemical complex.

Estimated to cost 12 billion dollars, the refinery will produce Euro-V quality gasoline and diesel as well as jet fuel and polypropylene, the construction phase is expected to create 7,000 direct and another 25,000 indirect jobs.

It will be processing 650,000 barrels of crude oil a day which will be fractionally distilled into 50 million liters of petrol and 17 million liters of diesel as well as aviation fuel and plastic products. With greater capacity than the total output of Nigeria's existing refining infrastructure, the Dangote refinery will be able to meet the country's entire domestic fuel demands as well as export refined products.

The refinery site covers an area of 2,635 hectares on the Lekki Free Zone overlooking the Atlantic ocean. This location will enable the transshipment of products to the international market.

The processing facilities at the refinery will include a crude distillation unit and associated facility and a mild hydrocracking unit.

Other infrastructure features at the facility will include a pipeline system, access roads, tank storage facilities, and crude and product handling facilities.

In addition, an administrative building, guardhouses, and fire stations are parts of this facility.

The refinery complex also includes a fertilizer plant that will utilize the byproducts from the refinery as raw material.

The refinery facility will have an annual refining capacity of 10.4 million tones of petrol, in addition to 4.5 million tones of diesel and 4 million tones of jet fuel.

There is one more feature of this facility that most Nigerians and indeed people of West Africa will be most excited about, and that is it comes with the capacity to generate 12,000 megawatts of electricity. Nigeria currently generates about 6,000 megawatts of electricity and it sells a significant portion of that to other West African countries.

Dangote's 12,000 megawatts should be enough to at least kick start Nigeria's industrial revolution.

But not everyone is happy with this project, some have criticized its Lagos location. The refinery is being built hundreds of miles from the impoverished Niger-Delta where the bulk of Nigeria's oil is extracted. Two undersea pipelines are under construction in the Delta and will carry crude oil about 340 miles to the refinery in Lagos.

The Dangote oil and gas refinery remains on track to be operational in early 2021 despite the disruptions caused by the Coronavirus pandemic. Yet critics worry that this will allow Mr. Dangote to essentially take over Nigeria's oil and gas industry turning it into a monopoly.

Most Nigerians will choose a well-run monopoly over the current situation, where getting fuel remains an uncertainty.

Politics / Nnamdi Kanu: Saint Or Megalomaniac? by ibson99(m): 4:56am On Jun 19, 2020
Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the secessionist group IPOB is one of the most controversial characters in Nigeria. Why would anyone start a rumor that their president has died and has been replaced with a clone? why the constant attacks and calling your own country a zoo? most importantly is Nnamdi Kanu a saint or just another megalomaniac?

Politics / Trump To Visit U.k Officially If He Behaves Well On Test Visit by ibson99(m): 12:06pm On Jul 24, 2017
American President, Donald Trump will make a "dummy visit" to the United Kingdom this year with the hope of getting an official invite if he behaves well, according to a report from The Daily Mail.

The trial visit, which will not include the traditional pomp and circumstance of an official visit, will include talks with Prime Minister Theresa May.

Trump will be invited by to the U.K. for an official visit only if the “dummy” run is a success, amid concerns that an official visit from the U.S. president could embarrass Queen Elizabeth.

The trial trip is reportedly due to concerns that Trump’s boisterous and untraditional behavior could embarrass the queen, the British publication claimed.

A Guardian report surfaced in June saying Trump had expressed concerns during a phone call with May about protests should he visit, reportedly telling her he did not want to visit unless he had support from the British public.

However, Downing Street and the White House maintained that the visit was still on despite the Guardian report.

“The president has tremendous respect for Prime Minister May,” a White House spokesman told The Hill at the time. “That subject never came up on the call."

Trump caused controversy when he criticized London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan’s response to terror attacks in central London in June.

At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is "no reason to be alarmed!", he tweeted.

Khan responded in an interview with Channel 4 News, saying, “I don’t think we should roll out the red carpet to the president of the USA in the circumstances where his policies go against everything we stand for.”

Please sir.. We are not here to battle on worth or defame each other. The guy in question wanted a forum like NL and I said he needs to be original. How is that a discouragement? Did I ask him to quit? You've faced people like me, what does that really mean? You feel so insecured.. Work on your emotion too. It's not stable. Thank you.

Now I know the trigger of your emotional ooutburst cheesy cheesy cheesy

You clone NL too.. We'll done sir
funny enough seun actually also bought the script and not write it as most of you do imagine. 1000s of blots use thesame template, whats wrong if forums use thesame scripts as long as they have different stories and target audience. you dont have a forum or know anything about it so stop advising blindly.

Lol.. Do you think it's all about Adsense? You think is all about the money? You have a lot of waking up to do. There's a difference between a good webmaster and a great webmaster. No matter what you do, don't ever settle for mediocrity..
whats this one saying, in three months i did well than most blogs and in a year i will be exactly where i want to be, i have faced people like u ever since i started. armchair analysts who instead of keeping shut about what you no not, you will be discouraging people from their dreams. if you cant encourage people stop bringing them down.

Trying to clone NL is the first indicator that within 3 months, you're going to give up.. Running a blog is hell, forum is heller.. Don't know if that word exist lol cheesy

My advice here is.. Don't lunch it yet.. Try and read lots of materials... Experiment too. Be confident that you know what you're going into before you start...

Lastly, be original. Seun is at the top cause he was original.. Not by cloning other sites..

Good luck.
shallow minded. i created mine about 3 months ago, today i just received my adsense approval and am doing fine
