Religion / Nostradamus Predicts 2021 Will Be Far Worse Than 2020 by ibson99(m): 5:59am On Dec 30, 2020
Ever heard the phrase “it can always be worse”?

According to Nostradamus and if you believe in prophecies, it will be worse, in 2021!

Nostradamus, a famous French physician, cabalist, and Renaissance-era seer had written 6338 prophecies, many of them fulfilled. He prophesied calamitous events through his “Les Prophéties” (The Prophesies), a collection of poetic quatrains.

Now, close readers of his work say he foresaw a 2021 with events, far worse than what we’ve seen in 2020.

In his writings, he mentions “Few young people: half-dead to give a start.” This can only mean one thing: a zombie apocalypse.

“Fathers and mothers dead of infinite sorrows / Women in mourning, the pestilent she−monster: / The Great One to be no more, all the world to end,” the philosopher went on, ominously.

“After great trouble for humanity, a greater one is prepared,” Nostradamus wrote. “The Great Mover renews the ages: / Rain, blood, milk, famine, steel, and plague, / Is the heavens fire seen, a long spark running.”

Historians are quick to point out that Nostradamus’ writings are incredibly vague. Some social media users claimed he predicted the new coronavirus as follows.

“There will be a twin year (2020) from which will arise a queen (corona) who will come from the east (China) and who will spread a plague (virus) in the darkness of night, on a country with 7 hills (Italy) and will transform the twilight of men into dust (death), to destroy and ruin the world. It will be the end of the world economy as you know it.”

However, fact-checkers at Reuters confirmed this to be a false claim.

Who is Nostradamus?
French philosopher Michel de Nostradamus was born in Saint Rémy de Provence, southern France, on December 14th of 1503, and he was a famous French physician, cabalist, pharmacist, and seer, best known for his book Les Prophéties (The Prophesies) its first edition published in 1555.

Many of his predictions, such as the rise to power of Adolf Hitler, and the Second World War, turned out to be accurate.

Nostradamus had written 6338 prophecies, many of them fulfilled. His prophecies cover a period reaching the year 3797. The secret of his predictions is not known.

Over 70% of his prophecies have fulfilled so far!

Foreign Affairs / We Don’t Yet Understand Why COVID-19 Numbers Aren’t As High In Africa-bill Gates by ibson99(m): 6:33pm On Dec 26, 2020
Bill Gates, the co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), has expressed concern over the minimal level of COVID-19 infection in Africa.

The American philanthropist said this in the health sector in his end of the year review on Gates Notes, he wrote “One thing I’m happy to have been wrong about—at least, I hope I was wrong—is my fear that COVID-19 would run rampant in low-income countries”.

An estimated 738 million people live on the African continent. Back in February when Africa recorded its first case of Covid-19, experts feared the worse.

In a report published by The Lancet, Michel Yao, the WHO’s Africa program manager for emergency operations, said: “We all know how fragile health systems [are] in the African continent, they are already overwhelmed by many outbreaks.”

“For us, it is critical to detect coronavirus earlier [so] that we can prevent spreading within communities that can trigger a number of cases that can overwhelm the treatment capacity.”

Similarly, in a presentation at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in Seattle back in February, Bill Gates reportedly warned that the coronavirus could overwhelm health systems on the African continent.

“This disease, if it’s in Africa … it’s more dramatic than if it’s in China, even though I’m not trying to minimize what’s going on in China in any way,” Gates said, according to a report by The Telegraph. “Will this get into Africa or not and if so, will those health systems be overwhelmed?”

Gates said the potential impact in sub-Saharan Africa could be “very, very dramatic.”

Drawing some similarities between Covid-19 and Ebola, Gates said, the coronavirus is more concerning than Ebola since it spreads far faster.

“If you look at Ebola, most of the excess deaths were caused because the health service shut down,” Gates said. “It’s not just the direct effect, it’s also the panic, the overload, and the things that affect health workers because you’re already at a very limited capacity.”

However, in his end of the year review on Gates Notes, the global health campaigner expressed relief Africa has been spared the full devastation of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said: “One thing I’m happy to have been wrong about—at least, I hope I was wrong—is my fear that COVID-19 would run rampant in low-income countries.”

“So far, this hasn’t been true. In most of sub-Saharan Africa, for example, case rates and death rates remain much lower than in the U.S. or Europe and on par with New Zealand, which has received so much attention for its handling of the virus.”

“The hardest-hit country on the continent is South Africa—but even there, the case rate is 40 percent lower than in the U.S., and the death rate is nearly 50 percent lower.”

He also stated that they don’t yet have enough data to understand why COVID-19 numbers have not been as high as predicted in Africa.

“We don’t have enough data yet to understand why the numbers aren’t as high as I worried they would get. It helped that some countries locked down early.”

Many experts have tried to explain why Africa has low Covid-19 numbers. Some say it’s due to the fact that some countries locked down early in the pandemic, others say it’s the continent’s youthful demographics. According to Bill Gates, Covid-19 numbers might appear low “because gaps in poor countries’ health care systems are making it hard to monitor the disease accurately”.

Romance / Kazakhstani Man Who Married A Sex Doll Reveals She’s ‘broken’ by ibson99(m): 5:01pm On Dec 25, 2020
A Kazakhstani bodybuilder, Yuri Tolochko who married his sex doll girlfriend in a bizarre ceremony back in November, has revealed his wife has tragically been broken just before Christmas.

Yuri is now waiting to see if all of her bits can be repaired back to good working order in time for the festive period.

He said her safe return would be “a gift for both” of them, reports the Daily Star.

Yuri first met his sex doll wife at a nightclub, and the pair were due to get married in March this year before the coronavirus pandemic put all plans on hold.

However, the pair had since settled into married life after their well-attended wedding in November.

Describing their relationship, Yuri said: “In general, I began to be jealous of Margo.

“Many men would like to imagine the same. After the wedding, I decided to show her less to people, I forbade her from Instagram (I did this a long time ago). Maybe I’m being too selfish.

“But that’s the beauty of Margo, that I can do this to her and she won’t mind.”

On Christmas Day – January 7 in Kazakhstan – he said he might stay at home with Margo and order “steaks and sushi” or “have some fun with friends”.

In the meantime, Yuri has to wait for his wife to get repaired.

He added: “She is broken. Now she is being repaired. She’s in another city.

“When she recovers, it will be a gift for both of us.”

Sharing footage of their wedding day on November 25, Yuri wrote on Instagram: “It’s happened. To be continued.”

Foreign Affairs / American Town Grants Permit To Whites-only Church, Insists It Isn’t Racist by ibson99(m): 12:08pm On Dec 23, 2020
The city council in the small farming town of Murdock, Minnesota, has granted a conditional use permit to open a whites-only church, NBCNews reports.

The church, Asatru Folk Assembly is making waves in America with opponents already able to collect about 50,000 signatures on an online petition to stop the all-white church from making its home in the farming town of 280 people.

The church’s website, says teachings and membership are for those of strictly European bloodlines.

“We do not need salvation. All we need is the freedom to face our destiny with courage and honor,” the group wrote on its website about their beliefs. “We honor the Gods under the names given to them by our Germanic/Norse ancestors.”

Their forefathers, according to the website, were “Angels and Saxons, Lombards and Heruli, Goths and Vikings, and, as sons and daughters of these people, they are united by ties of blood and culture undimmed by centuries.”

Murdock council members said they do not support the church but were legally obligated to approve the permit, which they did in a 3-1 decision.

“We were highly advised by our attorney to pass this permit for legal reasons to protect the First Amendment rights,” Mayor Craig Kavanagh said. “We knew that if this was going to be denied, we were going to have a legal battle on our hands that could be pretty expensive.”

City Attorney Don Wilcox said it came down to free speech and freedom of religion.

“I think there’s a great deal of sentiment in the town that they don’t want that group there,” he said. “You can’t just bar people from practicing whatever religion they want or saying anything they want as long as it doesn’t incite violence.”

Globacom recorded 1.5% month-on-month growth as well as 9.6% year-on-year on telephony subscriptions; whereas in internet subscriptions, it grew by 0.8% month-on-month and 36% year-on-year.

9Mobile recorded 1.8% month-on-month growth but dipped by 12.4% year-on-year on telephony subscription; whereas in internet subscription, it grew by 0.3% month-on-month and dipped 12.6% year-on-year.

In October 2020, only 73.5% of the operators’ subscribers on telephony services subscribed to internet services; 73.7% in September 2020 and 68.4% in October 2019.

What you should know
According to the report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the information and communication sector contributed 9.57% to the overall Gross Domestic Products (GDP) in the country’s third-quarter in 2020.

No doubt, the telecom sector has remained resilient amid the coronavirus pandemic given the surge in the demand for data usage and an increase in total mobile subscribers.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, several organizations have adjusted to remote workspace/digital workspace – a new way of life in the office space that is expected to increase data services, and further enhances growth in the sector in the short to medium term.

The performance trajectory of the sector may subsist with more gains, considering concerns that the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic is lurking around the corner.

Politics / Repentant Bandits Negotiated The Release Of Kankara Schoolboys – Garba Shehu by ibson99(m): 5:57pm On Dec 22, 2020
Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu has maintained that no ransom was paid but rather it was repentant bandits who played a role in securing the release of over 300 schoolboys abducted from Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina.

Shehu who disclosed this on Tuesday during an interview on Channels Television maintained the government’s theory of no ransom.

“All of the leading actors involved in the release of the children said no ransom was paid.

“The governor of Zamfara State, who had a policy of engagement with the bandits leading to the surrender and renouncement of bandits, used repentant bandits to gain access to those that were in the forest and they had them (schoolboys) released. All the leading actors in Zamfara and Katsina state said no ransom was paid,” he said.

The presidential spokesperson added that the rescue operation involved joint efforts of security agencies including the Nigerian Army, police among others who all acted promptly.

He revealed that there were negotiations with the abductors after the troops of the Nigerian Army encircled the Zamfara forest where the hostages were held.

“The security services, the Army, police, intelligence agencies showed good judgment and capacity by promptly responding to the kidnap of those students and then locating exactly where they were being held.

“Having done that, they quickly mobilized and surrounded the entire place to ensure that they do not go out and they do not come in. So, whatever followed after that is to reap from the gain which has been done.

“The military identified where they were less than 24 hours after the kidnap and waited for the process of the negotiation and at the end of it, everyone is happy that it ended the way it did,” he said.

On December 11, gunmen on motorcycles invaded Government Science School students in Kankara, Katsina State, and abducted over 300 students.

This occurred at a time when President Muhammadu Buhari was visiting Daura, his hometown in Katsina for a private visit.

The boys were eventually released and received by the Katsina State government after seven days in captivity.

Foreign Affairs / Brazilian Prez Bolsonaro Claims Pfizer Vaccine Could Turn People Into Alligators by ibson99(m): 4:52pm On Dec 20, 2020
In what can only be described as a bizarre attack on Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine, Brazil’s president Jair Bolsonaro told his supporters the vaccine could turn someone into an alligator and the company wouldn’t be liable.

Bolsonaro said this despite 7.1 million cases of the virus in his country and over 185,000 deaths.

“I’m not going to get [the vaccine]. Some say I’m setting a bad example. Hey a-hole, oh idiot, what are you saying about the bad example, I already had the virus, I already have antibodies. Why should I get the vaccine again?” Bolsonaro said in a speech captured by the news service UOL to a crowd in Porto Seguro. Bolsonaro contracted COVID-19 earlier this year.

In July, he tested positive for the virus and came down with a fever. It took him three weeks to recover. A month later, Bolsonaro told journalists: “I knew I was going to catch it someday, as I think unfortunately nearly everyone here is going to catch it eventually. What are you afraid of? Face up to it!”

The drug company Pfizer, exempted itself from liability in case of side effects of the vaccine – which Bolsonaro said rhetorically could turn someone into an alligator and they wouldn’t be liable.

“And another thing that has to be made very clear,” Bolsonaro charged. “There in the Pfizer contract, it is very clear that we (Pfizer) are not responsible for any side effect. If you become an alligator, it is your problem. … And what is worse, tampering with people’s immune systems.”

He continued: “If you become superhuman, if a woman starts to grow a beard or if a man starts to speak with an effeminate voice, they [Pfizer] won’t have anything to do with it,” he said.

However, according to the Brazilian Constitution, it is not up to the president to define whether a vaccine will be mandatory or not, but the Ministry of Health.

North Korea.

Just to show you how bad it is, it is

1.A criminal offense to listen to foreign broadcast. If you buy a radio or television there, you must submit it to a government office to be pretuned to the approved stations.

2.A criminal offence to bad mouth the leaders, and a criminal offence not to report it.

3.You have no freedom of movement. To travel from one place to another in the country you have to have official permission, even to visit your mother in the village. Because if you get caught without the right papers....

4.The sins of the parents can affect their descendants. NK practices something called songbun. How it works...if your papa offends the leaderships, you can be denied higher education, can be posted to a village to do menial jobs...and worst case scenairo in the good old days...jailed in a prision camp for life.

5.There is nothing like freedom of religion. Just even practicing religon can get you jailed for life.

6.In North Korea, there is no internet, only an intranet that has approved government websites. All other websites are blocked.

7.You must wear a badge of the leaders on your shirt or top at all times, and your house wall must have a picture of the Kims on the wall. Father and son (soon the grandson)

8.Maybe the only thing they have that is better than Nigeria is something of absolute security...but that is because they have a good secret police and a good informer system. Step out of line, the boys come for you.

9.All this defection ...in Nigeria if you cross the border illegally to get to Europe...at best, you get back home with some releif materials. In NK, crossing the border illegally=jail. Defecting to another country=jail for you, disgrace for your family, maybe jail/

A good book on NK is The Real North Korea: Life and Politics in the Failed Stalinist Utopia by the Russian writer Andrei Lankov

i wonder how this guy is able to maintain absolute control over his people in a modern world. that country is like reading about a cruel king in history.

Foreign Affairs / North Korea Executes Fishing Captain For Listening To Foreign Radio While At Sea by ibson99(m): 6:02pm On Dec 18, 2020
Kim Jong Un’s authoritarian regime in North Korea has publicly executed the owner of a fishing fleet in front of 100 boat captains and fisheries executives for secretly listening to broadcasts by Radio Free Asia and other forbidden media outlets while at sea.

The US government-funded Radio Free Asia claims the fisherman was put to death after admitting he had listened to its broadcasts for more than 15 years.

Sources told RFA the mariner, known as Choi, was executed by a firing squad after he was turned in by a resentful crewman at his base in the northeastern port city of Chongjin.

An official in North Hamgyong province claimed that Choi had started listening to foreign broadcasts when he was a radio operator in the military.

After leaving the military, he continued the habit – leaving him exposed to charges of ‘subversion against the party’, it is claimed.

A subsequent crackdown at the fishing base also led to party officials and security officers being dismissed, it is reported.

The base in question was reputedly affiliated with the so-called Bureau 39, a shadowy wing of the party which obtains foreign currency for North Korean leaders.

North Korea goes to extraordinary lengths to stop its population from accessing outside information, with strict punishment for violators, but the open sea allows fishermen and merchant mariners the chance to hear forbidden broadcasts.

The captain had been catching fish for the government of Kim Jong Un, which has ordered North Korean fishermen to increase catches amid food shortages and to raise cash in the face of international sanctions aimed at curbing resources for nuclear weapons.

The captain appeared to be ‘under the illusion that because he was part of Bureau 39’s fishing base, he would be immune to criminal charges’, a source said.

However, he was said to have become unpopular with his crew members, eventually leading to his downfall.

A second source said: ‘One of the fishermen sought vengeance for Choi’s arrogant and disrespectful behavior so he reported him to the security department.’

Foreign radio stations can be received in much of North Korea, it is believed, but Kim Jong-un’s regime keeps a tight grip on what the public is allowed to know.

The second source claimed it is ‘common’ for fishermen to listen to foreign broadcasts such as RFA when they go out to sea.

‘Therefore, it seems that the authorities made an example out of Choi to imprint on the residents that listening to outside radio stations means death,’ the source claimed.

Radio Free Asia, which is funded by Washington and has an office in Seoul, broadcasts six hours of programming a day to North Korea.

Politics / US Wants WTO DG Race Reopened — Suggests Okonjo-iweala Lacks Experience by ibson99(m): 3:27pm On Dec 18, 2020
The United States (US) has suggested that the process to find a new director-general of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) needs to be reopened, BBC is reporting.

Donald Trump’s trade representative Robert Lighthizer told the BBC on Wednesday that the WTO needs “someone with real experience in trade”.

Despite widespread support from 110 out of 164 member countries of WTO, the US is doubling down on its rejection of Ms Okonjo-Iweala, a former Nigerian minister of finance and former managing director (MD) of the World Bank.

The WTO operates based on consensus, that is, if one country opposes a candidate, a final decision cannot be made.

President Trump’s top official on trade, Robert Lighthizer’s remarks on Wednesday to the BBC confirm that there is no way the Trump administration will be persuaded to back the Nigerian ex-finance minister in its remaining weeks in office.

He said the WTO is “massively in need of reform”, especially its dispute-resolving appellate body, which according to him, has evolved into a body creating a common law of trade, “taking away benefits” that members had negotiated for ” and putting restraint on things that had been conceded”.

The appellate body of the WTO has been rendered inactive by Donald Trump’s administration vetoing the appointment of new judges.

“I think there’s a consensus developing at the WTO that we need the appellate body reform,” Lightizer said.

“We need to start negotiating again, we need to start making headway. So I’m glad you brought up the WTO, it’s been clearly a focus for us and to us its an organisation that started off as a good idea and basically isn’t functioning very well, but I think that can be sorted out also.”

The impasse at the WTO comes at a sensitive time for global trade, which has suffered because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her part has insisted she is the right person for the job and has the right experience with both trade and delivering reform. Her spokesperson told the BBC: “Dr Okonjo-Iweala looks forward to engaging with the Biden administration and is hopeful that final consensus can soon be reached. The WTO urgently needs to get to work at this time of global crisis.”

Romance / Bride Calls Off Wedding After Groom Rejects Job To ‘rest’ While She Works by ibson99(m): 2:59pm On Dec 06, 2020
A bizarre answer shared by an anonymous Quora user tells the story of how her cousin called off her wedding on the day of the wedding. It was the story of how an American bride had found out that her groom to be turned down a promising job in the downtown San Diego area for “health reasons”, which was completely bogus.

The cousin shares that the bride had been crying and said she no longer loved her fiancé as he was a slacker.

Besides turning down a job using a fake excuse, the groom would also yell obscenities at the bride and accuse her of putting her nose in his business.

“The groom was confronted over these accusations, but his family tried to defend him,” shares the cousin.

“We were having none of it. We are a close-knit family and we always defend our own. The night ended on a rather bad note as the groom’s family wanted the wedding to proceed.”

“We encouraged the bride to make the best decision that she feels is right for herself and for her future. The next day, the bride said she wasn’t going to go through with the wedding. So, we went to the church dressed in casual clothes and told the groom and his family that the wedding was off,” She adds.

“The groom’s parents were fuming, and we stood our ground. The bride gave her reasons as to why she didn’t want to marry him. They then started to talk, and the groom said he was being a slacker and turned down the job because he hoped she would provide while he “rested” after working for such a long time. Both sides were angry at him; even his parents yelled at him.”

It was no longer comfortable for the groom’s family after this, so they decided to go home, and the rest of the party stayed. Despite the bombshell the bride dropped, the groom’s family did say that the bride made the right decision in not going through with the wedding. The former bride is now in another relationship dating a very nice man with a very well paying job that he enjoys.

So who is the “messiah” you want to bring for us in 2023? Realize this, corruption has eaten into the soul of Nigerians and cannot be banished in a few years(not even in far more developed countries). What we are looking for is someone - even if he is known to be corrupt - who knows how to fix systems. Tinubu has proven he can do that. Low hanging fruits are the best for quick progress. If not, name the saint that won’t be bulldozed by all the hungry, wicked and desperate politicians we have.
we cannot complain about bad leadership and yet vote for the one guy that is grooming all the bad leaders.

Since then a lot has transpired in a series of events that would come to be known globally as the #EndSARS protests.
