happybrother:Devil? funny thing is across the world everyone has one or two grievances against there government. |
otemanuduno:simply put you dont believe there is heaven or hell. |
princeSammyz:my point is, corruption is a part of democracy, imagine before you can be president, you need billions of naira for campaign, all those that contributed your campaign funds will want there money back plus interest. the only way around corruption is for there to be excess money in the economy. |
otemanuduno:so you believe in the doctrine "do wat thou wilt". you dont worship any God, you dont believe there will be a reward for those who worship God and punishment for those who dont after we die? we just become dust and thats the end of us? funny enough i personally dont see anything wrong in homosexuality, but if religion condemns it, perhaps there is a higher wisdom i havnt seen yet. |
Jabioro:have you ever heard of the term "owo ton yeye bukata" when there is enough money, the effect of corruption will be insignificant. |
gbegemaster:lagos and abuja is London compared to other parts na |
Nigerians have for long erroneously assumed that their country is wealthy and that the only reason why the country is still regarded as a third world country is due to corruption and mismanagement of politicians. They assumed that with the vast oil fields in the Niger-Delta, and multitude of natural resources buried across the country, Nigeria shouldn’t be poor. However, the reality is different, corruption and mismanagement should be Nigeria’s ‘B’ problem. Overview of Nigeria’s poverty Nigeria is poor, stark poor. Outside Lagos and Abuja, the poverty rate in Nigeria is severe. According to a 2016 United Nations, UN, report on Nigeria’s Common Country Analysis, CCA, about 64% of the country’s 175million population is poor. The poverty rate in some of the northern states is much worse with some states having as high as 80%. The mathematical error Gross domestic product (GDP) is the monetary value of all the finished goods and services produced within a country's borders in a specific time period. Nigeria’s GDP is over $520billion. Government revenue is the amount of taxes, licensing fees, fines, etc that a government receives within a specific period of time. Government revenues plus external borrowings is what is used to finance the yearly budget. Nigeria’s revenue is #3.8trillion (about $12billion). A lot of Nigerian’s assume that the government earns $520billion a year. $12billion is too small for a country with over180 million people. In practice, the country earns roughly the same amount The English Premier League earns in TV broadcast rights (£10billion). South Africa with a population less than 55million earns about $9billion a year while the United States earns over $216billion a year! The way forward The government has to find a way of drastically improving the revenue. Nigerians spends over $1billion dollars a year on foreign medical trips, which is not sustainable. Former British Prime Minister Margret Thatcher bought and installed cameras for the broadcast of English Premier League matches; today those broadcast rights are worth £10billion a year. Fat payouts to government officials, corruption and mismanagement needs to be reduced. In all, the Nigerian government needs to find better and smarter way s of spending the little money it earns. source: http://www.afriforum.net/306/mathematical-explanation-of-why-nigeria-is-a-poor-natio

otemanuduno:i dint say you are doing them, i mean if you want to do them there is nothing stopping you, i mean there is no divine code guiding your daily activities, right and wrong is determined by the will of majority. just like Wole Soyinka you mentioned, he believed that there should be nothing wrong with homosexuality despite it is an abomination in Africa. even the will of majority, the powerful majority wins. |
otemanuduno:smart way to keep your mind at peace while you violate atleast one of Ghandi's seven sins daily. you commit adultery and you'll be cool with it because technically there is nothing wrong between two adults having consenting sex. you drink alcohol and gamble, cos technically there is nothing wrong with it if you do it in minimum proportion. you commit the seven sins without even knowing cos whats wrong and right depends on common sense and the will of the majority. when you are in Nigeria, you say homosexuality is wrong, but when you go to the US, you'll see nothing wrong in it. you dont know God, its just your mind playing tricks on you. |
The National Intelligence Agency (NIA) is claiming ownership of the $43,449,947, £27,800 and N23, 218,000 seized Wednesday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission from Osborne Towers, a luxury residential complex in Ikoyi, Lagos, owned by Mr. Adamu Muazu, a former governor of Bauchi state and ex-National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The NIA is the government security agency tasked with overseeing foreign intelligence and counterintelligence operations in Nigeria. THEWILL reports that a ranking government official with knowledge of the latest twist to the seizure confirmed that the NIA Director General, Ambassador Ayodele Oke, has been in touch with EFCC’s boss, Ibrahim Magu, to express his displeasure over the raid at the apartment used as one of NIA’s safe houses in Lagos for its clandestine operations. The official said Magu, whose confirmation as substantive chairman of the agency has been frustrated by the DSS and the Senate, has been under pressure to show President Muhammadu Buhari the billions of naira he told the president during a meeting that the EFCC had recovered under his leadership. “So he is on a reckless search for monies hence all these strings of raids and seizures within the last one week,” the source who asked not be identified said. “I can authoritatively tell you that money belongs to the NIA. The DG has come forward to claim it and has informed my office of the development. He is furious with Magu for his agency’s recklessness and for compromising their operations,” the official told THEWILL. Meanwhile, Justice Muslim Hassan of a Federal High Court in Lagos Thursday ordered the temporary forfeiture of the cash and ordered that the funds be temporarily forfeited to the Federal Government and adjourned till May 5, 2017, for anyone interested in the funds to show up before him to show cause why the money should not be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government. Mrs. Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue, a former Managing Director, Retail, at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), was previously linked to the haul found in an apartment on the 7th floor. She denied ownership of the cash in a statement by her attorney Thursday though admitted residing on the second floor. Mrs. Nnamdi-Ogbue was invited to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja for questioning on Thursday. The EFCC has however transported the cash to the vault of the Central Bank of Nigeria in Lagos Island. source:www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2017/04/14/confusion-intelligence-agency-claims-ownership-n13b-ikoyi-money http://www.afriforum.net/305/nigerian-intelligence-claims-ownership-of-50million-fou

NeeKlaus:i guess we see things defferently. you think its the script that makes nairaland unique, i think the script is useless its the content that matters. talk abt plagiarism, even seun wont be here in a sense cos nairaland depends on virtually other ppls content. no hard feelings just defferences in opinions. |
gidimasters:you have attitude issues and that makes me interested in you. during most job adverts, do they announce the salary at first? isnt it after your application has been selected and you are selected for interview, isnt that when you get to negotiate renumeration. why do you think this will be different. |
NeeKlaus:you are seeing half the picture, nairaland is only focused on Nigerian topics and audience. Afriforum is targeting an African audience. and how do you know Seun himself did not create Afriforum. expanding the business kinda thing? |
its based on commition, the amount of commition depends on the board you are interested in. does that answer your curiosity? gidimasters: |
the story always ends the same way. they just never learn. mumugehs |
