Politics / 7 Reasons Why Biafra Will Never Happen by ibson99(m): 2:36pm On Apr 06, 2017 |
The agitation for a sovereign state of Biafra seems to be growing stronger. These agitations are championed by a group known as the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and a sizable number of ethnic Igbo youths who go on the internet to share their opinions on their continued relationship with the rest of Nigeria. Their demands are simple; they want an independent state of Biafra mainly because they believe the rest of Nigeria is slowing down their development. Unfortunately, the independence of Biafra is based largely on factors outside the control of even the agitators. 1. They need to convince the rest of Nigeria to let them go The conundrum is the Biafran’s wants the oil rich Niger-Delta to be a part of their country, while the rest of Nigeria cannot survive without oil revenue from the South. Without oil revenue, states like Osun and Kebbi State in the north will be unable to pay workers salaries and provide basic services like health and education. Convincing the rest of Nigeria to give up oil revenue will be quit a task. 2. Vague geographical location: To have a country, you will need an exact geographical territory. As it stands, even the leaders of the movement do not have a definite territory in mind. Some have suggested that perhaps the oil rich Niger-Delta should be part of their country others want an alliance with the middle-belt minority Christians. The agitators just do not have a definite map in mind. 3. The rich and famous Igbo’s don’t support Biafra: The reason is simple; the probability of success is very slim. In Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial center, there are a lot of successful Igbo traders who wouldn’t want to find out what will happen to their businesses when they are no longer Nigerians. 4. The call for Biafra is not exactly honorable: The current agitation led by Nnamdi Kanu started shortly after the 2015 general election in which majority of Igbo’s supported the then incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan. Before the election, Nnamdi Kanu was virtually non-existent and it could be argued that it was Goodluck Jonathan’s loss at the polls that led to the current agitation. Where is the honor in that? 5. They have no international support: On the continent, no African country will be bold enough to meddle in Nigeria’s internal politics. France and The UK have already declared they won’t be supporting the actualization of Biafra; the Americans are traditional allies and supporters of one Nigeria. These leave them with only Russia and China as possible supporters; not unlikely, but not enough. 6. Biafra will be same old wine in a new bottle: Over 521 languages are spoken in present day Nigeria by about 300 ethnic groups. Biafra if created will still be as diverse as Nigeria with the same corrupt politicians and similar social problems. What will be worse is a lot of ethnic groups won’t want to be minorities to the Igbo’s. 7. There is no actual oppression or marginalization of the Igbos: Before his arrest and eventual detention by the Nigerian State, Nnamdi Kanu on his Radio Biafra would go on and on about how the Igbos are being politically marginalized and oppressed, and how they would thrive in an independent Biafra. Reality check is a lot of the Igbo traders in Lagos would disagree with that assertion. Politically: the current Deputy Senate President of Nigeria is of Igbo ethnic extraction, the current Minister of Petroleum is Igbo. Within the last 17 years the Igbos have produce a Senate President, several Ambassadors and top government officials; the Igbos are simply a force to reckon with in Nigeria’s politics. Those agitating for an independent state of Biafra have started on a path, but they still have great a many miles to go. source: http://www.afriforum.net/276/7-reasons-why-biafra-will-never-happen 2 Likes

Nairaland / General / Why I Want To Sue Merrybet! by ibson99(m): 9:02am On Sep 02, 2016 |
The seria a game between sassuolo and pescara that the result was reversed and a 3-0 win was awarded to Pescara after Sassoulo has fielded an ineligible player. The match originally ended 2-1 in favour of Sassoulo. Now is it right for bookies to reverse the result and start taking money from ppls accounts. And if they claim they want to use 3-0 as final result, how will they decide first half win and other related markets. Because of this particular game merrybet has now removed 30k from my account which I earlier won. Lawyers in the house I want to sue them can I win? There rules says only result at end of 90mins will count. |

Science/Technology / 5 Video Games Nigerians Love As Kids by ibson99(m): 3:57pm On Jul 16, 2016 |
Before Pokemon Go phenomenon and PSPs and other mobile Android games, there were Sega, Nintendo and Nitendo64 among other popular game consoles from back in the day. Here’s a look at the top five games that made these game consoles so unforgettable to the Nigerian gaming community. Super Mario Created by Shigero Miyamoto for the Japanese company Nintendo is perhaps the most popular video game ever designed by human hands. Since its first release in September 1985, over 310million copies of the game has been sold since then. The Super Mario games follow Mario's adventures in the fictional Mushroom Kingdom, usually with Mario as the player character. He is usually joined by his brother, Luigi, and occasionally by other members of the Mario cast. The games have simple plots, typically with Mario rescuing the kidnapped Princess Peach from the primary antagonist, Bowser. Mortal Kombat This one doesn’t need much introduction, from Mortal Kombat on Sega, to Mortal KombatII on Nintendo, to Mortal Kombat Trilogy on Nintendo64 every game in the Mortal Kombat series was a huge commercial success. The games were styled in a 2D fighting fashion. Terms such as “Flawless Victory,” “fatality” and “Finish Him/her” will always be remembered by fans of these games. Popular characters from these games include the likes of Sub-Zero, Smoke, kabal and the famous black Noob Saibot among others. Winning Eleven 4, Ps1 It was released in 1999, and the best description for this game is ‘it was the finest soccer game ever made.’ It was developed by Konami Entertainment and was released on PlayStation1 console. This game deserved its commercial success because its gameplay was simple, it was easy to maneuver players and easy to score freekicks. If you ever lay your hands on this treasure again, the team to use is European All-stars. Use the 4-3-3 formation with Schevhenko on the right, Owen on the left and Bierhof in the middle. Grand Theft Auto This was another game series that was popular in Nigeria. Each game in this series allows players to take on the role of a criminal in the big city, typically an individual who plans to rise through the ranks of organized crime through the course of the game. The player is given various missions by kingpins and major idols in the city underworld which must be completed to progress through the storyline. Assassinations and other violent crimes are featured regularly. Occasionally taxi driving, firefighting, street racing, bus driving, or learning to fly helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft are also involved in the game. The first game in the series of this classic was released in 1997 but there is a latest version released in March this year. God of War It is an action-adventure video game that was released in 2005 for PlayStation 2. Loosely based on Greek mythology, it is set in ancient Greece with vengeance as its central motif. The player controls the protagonist Kratos, a Spartan warrior who serves the Olympian Gods. The goddess Athena tasks Kratos with killing Ares, the God of War, who tricked Kratos into killing his own wife and daughter. As Ares besieges Athens out of hatred for Athena, Kratos embarks on a quest to find the one object capable of stopping the god: the legendary Pandora's Box. God of War sold more than 4.6 million copies worldwide, making it the eleventh best-selling PlayStation 2 game of all time. source; http://theconservativeng.com/5-video-games-most-nigerians-love-as-kids/ 1 Like

Politics / Why Is The CIA Not Intervenning In The Niger-delta? by ibson99(m): 1:03pm On Jul 13, 2016 |
formation about other countries, corporate organizations, big businesses and terrorist organization. Other short-term gigs and services the CIA provides incAnyone who has ever seen a decent American movie should at least have an idea what the CIA is all about. The CIA an abbreviation for Central Intelligence Agency, is an agency of the US government which secretly collects inlude eliminating people that are a threat to US interests. In recent weeks, a group of militants in Nigeria’s Niger-Delta region has been blowing up oil installations and other critical infrastructures in their region. They claim to have grievances against their government for neglecting their region, so in response they destroy millions of dollars worth of crude oil facilities. Most of these oil facilities belongs to US and other US allied European countries. According to official government records, former military head of state Sani Abacha , died peacefully of natural causes. Most Nigerians don’t believe he died peacefully. In fact, they believed he was poisoned. Sani Abacha was a vicious and corrupt dictator, who was stealing from his country. Not only was he stealing from his country, he also has policies that was unfavorable to the international community. When he died, majority of Nigerians were thankful to the CIA for emancipating the country. It is hard to imagine that a responsive organization like the CIA doesn’t already have some James Bond mini-mies running around in the Niger-Delta. All they have to do is identify and eliminate these criminals in a way that doesn’t leave any scandal, and the world will be a better place for it. It is a known fact that the CIA doesn’t do favors, they do deals. But Nigeria’s Niger-Delta is a “text-book CIA” situation. Everybody will benefit; a couple of militants gets eliminated, and American interests in Nigeria are protected, President Buhari an American ally takes the credit for bringing peace to the Niger-Delta, he gets a pat in the back and may even get a second term, Barrack Obama, a black American President whom most blacks are beginning to think is a sellout also gets some credit for helping a fellow black nation. And most importantly, the world becomes “safer” with fewer militants/terrorists in it. source; http://theconservativeng.com/why-is-the-cia-not-intervening-in-nigerias-niger-delta/
