see ehn, I'm a realist. I don't sugar coat things.. Eric is only good against mediocre teams.
We've seen in time and time again. The most recent being towards the end of last season, Guy was giving masterclass upon masterclass of performance against them Mallorca, osasuna and co only to face Frankfurt and totally became shit, he was also poor against Napoli beforehand.
The fans who were singing his praises started calling for his head.

I'm not saying he's a bad defender, but he's not starter quality against the tough teams.

Both situations were not the same. Jong has just received the ball from the keeper and was trying to maneuver through before David Silva caught him unaware, causing our midfielder to complain to the referee, allowing others to follow suit, after which Isak moved on, leaving Eric to chase.

Let's not even talk about Araujo who was battle ready to chase a pass.

Yeah he tends to hold the ball longer trying to progress or dribble with it, na still kid he'll grow with experience but he needs to be a backup as this stage to the other senior midfielders in case of bad performances I hope xavi doesn't carryover this experiment consistently in the UCL where experience really matters, Pedri-FDJ should be the first names on the teamsheet since we're not getting Silva again

Happy to see Eric play well. He is one of the most confident on the ball and great passer which is very important.

He needs to work on his defending still though. He was responsible for not cutting out the attack that led to Isak's goal. Did you see how Araujo muscled out the attacker today leading to Pedri's goal? That kind of response in that moment quite possibly gives us 3 points that day.

He also takes way too many chances with fouls that put referees in difficult situations. Regardless he performed well against a mediocre team.
