Associates of former president, Goodluck Jonathan are using Niger Delta Avengers to destabilise the President Muhammadu Buhar’s led administration, according to accusations made by the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND).

According to Daily Post, Mend alleged that “the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), is the vehicle currently being used by Niger Delta political elite and associates of former President Goodluck Jonathan to destabilize President Buhari’s Government. It was these political juggernauts who are loathe to see President Buhari gain a foothold in the region.”


This is not the first time the associates of former president Jonathan will be accused of being behind the resurgence of militancy in the Niger Delta region.
Few weeks ago, a top security source disclosed that some close associates and allies of former president, Goodluck Jonathan were suspected of being behind the on-going crisis in the Niger Delta region.

The source said following the spate of bombings of oil pipelines and other facilities by the militant group, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), some close allies of Jonathan have been put under surveillance by the nation’s security agencies.

Similarly, the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Asdulmumins Kabir also accused militant group, Niger Delta Avengers of trying to destroy the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari despite the fact that Buhari’s election was accepted by all Nigerians.

The Emire made the accusations on Thursday, June 2, at the opening of first the first security for support group of various religions organisation organised by Katsina state government and supreme council for sharia in Nigeria, Nigeria Pilot reports.

This was contained in a statement release by the Abdulrazak Namdas the chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs.

The accused legislators are Mohammed Garba Gololo (APC – Bauchi), Samuel Ikon (PDP – Akwa Ibom), and Mark Gbillah (APC – Benue).
Speaker Yakubu Dogara, has ordered an investigation into the three House members accused of sex scandal while on an official visit to the US

Namdas said: “We are in receipt of a letter from the US ambassador alleging misconduct by some members of the National Assembly who attended a training program in the United States of America.

“The leadership of the House has commenced its own part of the investigation. When it is concluded, we will brief Nigerians further on this issue.”

Namdas, however, did not say how the investigation would be carried out or which committee would be assigned to it.
This announcement came as the US formally withdrew the visas from the three offending legislators.

The accused speakers came under pressure from many lawmakers, who felt that the matter could tarnish the image of the National Assembly if it was not attended to.

But the lawmakers dismissed the allegation as “baseless and untrue” when Dogara first sought their explanations.

However, Dogara was said to have come under pressure from members, who insisted on a thorough investigation, considering the fact that the US ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle committed it to writing.

This season PSG have won the Trophee des Champions, the Coupe de la Liga, the Coupe de France and Ligue 1, however, elimination from the Champions League has left a bitter taste.
Asked whether he could confirm Blanc as the club’s manager, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of PSG replied: “I will not speak of particular cases. Big changes will happen. A new cycle will start, you’ll see. In any case, if we continue like this on all levels we will not get there. Two hours before the return leg in Manchester [PSG lost 3-2 on aggregate to Manchester City], I knew we were going to lose. I did not feel anything from the players and I said to a member of staff they were not ready to fight.”

According to the report, the club is finalizing plans to bring on board Sevilla manager Unai Emery to replace the former French international.

While PSG had Diego Simeone in mind as their first-choice candidate to succeed Blanc, the club have realized it is unlikely to successful price away the Argentine from Atletico Madrid.
However, Motta cannot make sense of Blanc’s impending sacking: “It’s hard to hear that, especially after we still won eight trophies with him the last two seasons.
