Being fashionable means having a great sense of style. Having a great sense of style equates a perfect way to show your unique traits to the world. Having a good sense style doesn’t just come naturally, it has to be learned voluntarily or involuntarily. This means you get to pick up on the best colors that can be paired together, the best cut for a fabric etc. Although being more creative can be a gift, this doesn’t take away from the fact that experiments have to be carried out in order to find out what clothes, colors, cuts and length flatter you most (the options are endless).

People have said that a great style is a style that is truly your own but nobody is an island and so researching styles play an important role in fashion. Being Africans’s we tend to lean towards a certain type of style, but this has since changed. The Nigerian fashion scene received a boost in which the Ankara fabric once again became one of our favorite fabrics.

One thing I love about using fabrics is the fact that you can tailor them to fit your needs. An Ankara fabric is one of the best in the world (doesn’t hurt that it is mostly made of cotton) because you can express yourself. Style doesn’t have a rule book only tips and guide and so once you know what you want, you can tweak it to suit your body type and size.

Guess, the era of filming people in the studio as evidence is finally upon us.

Singer Emma Nyra, has been slammed with a song theft accusation following the release of ‘Work Hard‘ the lead single from her forthcoming EP, Love VS Money.
Music producer, Samson Ohda known as OD Beats, has accused the ‘For My Matter’ crooner of stealing her latest single, ‘Work Hard’ from him. According to the producer, he met a brick wall after finalizing work on the beat as Emma and her team refused to pay him for the work done.

Releasing a statement and video clip of Emma’s studio session, OD Beat, further explained the situation.

On June 29th Emma Nyra was in the studio with Samson Ohda aka OD Beats when he creatively produced and composed the reggae/afropop influenced beat for ‘Work Hard’ off her released Ep. After OD beats had been contracted (Verbally/Text Messages) to produce her EP, shortly after started having difficulty with payment from her camp. Subsequently after trying to make a deposit for OD to send over some tracks, they started making up excuses which lead to her stealing the intellectual property in a sordid attempt to recreate an idea idea she did not pay for and sell it of as having produced by another Houston based producer (Tag on the track) in a show of spite.


‘My reason for highlighting and sharing this story is to touch on the manner producers are often taking advantage of when they try to work with an estab artist to a mutual end. I hear these stories countlessly and it’s devastating to the psyche when someone puts his heart and soul into something and someone else feels entitled enough to steal your efforts with impunity. In an industry that’s already lacking compensatory structure, I can only imagine how producers in Nigeria and other countries are being taken advantage of; which is not to say all artists are that way.

As at the time of this report, Emma Nyra, is yet to respond to the claim.

The YBNL rave of the moment, Adekunle Gold has released the art work for his debut album, ‘Gold’. The most anticipated album of the year will be released on July 28, 2016. It consists 16 tracks with just one feature with songstress, Simi.

Kosoko Adekunle popularly known by his stage name Adekunle Gold is a graduate of Lagos State Polytechnic with a degree in Graphics. He is no stranger to music as he wrote his first song at the age of 15. His music career kicked off officially in 2010 when he formed a band called The Bridge with his best friend Seyikeyz. The duo released three songs; ‘No Sleeping on a Bicycle’, ‘Norm Breaker’ which featured Skales and a cover for John Legend's ‘All of Me’.

In 2013, Adekunle Gold left his band to debut as a solo act. Having identified his style of music, he released a song titled ‘Let It Stop’, a song about peace for the nation.

In 2014, he released yet another beautiful rendition of One Direction's ‘Story Of My Life’ which he titled ‘Sade’. ‘Sade’ is credited to be the propelling force of Adekunle Gold's career.

Adekunle Gold is signed to YBNL Nation and has released three very successful singles which have enjoyed massive airplay since the release of Sade: Orente, Pick Up, and Ready.
On his new album “Gold”, Undoubtedly, the singer bares his soul in this album and the cover further expresses this message. Every detail on the cover which was crafted by him creates an irresistible imagery of what to expect from the album .There is something different about this artwork, it goes beyond just a picture but tells a lengthy tale about the artiste, his craft and his belief. There is a symphony of colours, allusions, inscriptions that reach out to the aesthetic sense of the viewer. It echoes ancestry, royalty and an unshakeable sense of rebirth.

The colour purple adorns the background of the artwork and words are inscribed in gold. Purple and gold are known to signify royalty but the colours do more than just connote royalty, they capture the viewer's immediate attention. Here is the first glaring statement that before the viewer is an entity glazed with an obvious ambiance of royalty. You cannot afford to look away.

The climax of the artwork is embodied in the image of Adekunle Gold. Garbed in a gold coloured Agbada, the music maestro is captured as he looks on expressionlessly into nothingness. The expression is as though he no longer has control of his body. This is no longer the 21st century human being but a calabash that contains the message of his ancestors.
Ultimately this is a medium that bears on his shoulders the heritage of days past, the ancient songs of the grand patrons of his culture. The crown surmounts the appearance of this excellent depiction. Here is the unveiling of the ancient in a world of hip hop, rap and pop. Several studies have shown that sex kills faster than some ailment in the world, if care is not taken.
Medical experts are of the opinion that deaths during consensual sex account for about 0.6% of all sudden deaths. Although not many people are putting their minds to this, it is worthy of note.

Here are a few ways sex can kill you:

1. Cardiac Arrest

This is a sudden stop in blood circulation due to the failure of the heart. According to a study conducted by a leading American medical journal, each extra hour of sexual activity in a week opens one up to an increased risk of 2-3 heart attacks and one sudden cardiac death per 10,000 person.

2. Infidelity

There is always this story of a married man dying after “a big meal with alcohol.” Men who were unfaithful have the high tendency to experience severe cardiac events during sex. A related study seemed to support the death during extramarital sex theory. Fourteen of the 20 cases of coital death, happened during an affair.

3. Haemorrhage

In simple terms, this is called stroke. Experts claim that indulging in sexual intercourse can trigger a subarachnoid haemorrhage i.e. is bleeding into the subarachnoid space—the area between the arachnoid membrane and the pia mater surrounding the brain via the Valsalva maneuver. The Valsalva maneuver is performed by moderately forceful attempted exhalation against a closed airway, usually done by closing one’s mouth, pinching one’s nose shut while pressing out as if blowing up a balloon.

4. Sex Drugs

Viagra use has been linked to sudden cardiovascular death during sexual activity among elderly or otherwise infirm men. Researchers also say that prescription or recreational drugs, such as cocaine can also possibly contribute to unexpected deaths during consensual sex.

2016 BET Awards’ Global Good Award recipient, Akon, is shaking the table! Or is he just telling the truth? The Senegalese-American singer has apparently shared some theories regarding the relationship between men and women that have many people giving him the side eye.

Akon appeared on Hollywood Today Live, where he was invited to comment on the sexes. He spoke:
“Why is it that every woman in the world is going through the exact same problem with a man? Just think about it. It’s not a coincidence, it’s just who we are. I always believed that if women took the time to understand men, you literally would run the world. The only reason why men are dominant is because we know more about women than women know about men.” He continued:

Anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has revealed how both Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose and erstwhile minister of state for defence, Musiliu Obanikoro got N4.745bn from the arms deal scandal.

Recall that the EFCC had frozen Fayose’s an Zenith bank account while it has also raided the home of Obanikoro in Lagos.

Fayose has alleged that his rights have been trampled on by the anti-graft agency, but the EFCC says it has the power to investigate and carry out such actions in the course of its duties.

According to the EFCC, N4.745bn was paid into the Diamond Bank account of Sylvan McNamara, a company where Obanikoro’s sons Gbolahan and Babajide Obanikoro are signatories to the account.

The breakdown of the disbursement is N759, 384, 300 changed into dollars through bureaux de change; N160million spent on cars through Balmoral International Limited; N1, 219, 490,000 ferried by Obanikoro in two flights to a branch of Zenith Bank at Plot 13, Alagbaka Estate, Akure to evacuate the cash and received by Fayose’s associate, Abiodun; balance of about N2billion withdrawn by Obanikoro and his two children in cash.

Some of the bureaux de change and the amounts credited to them include A.A.G.B.S Oil and Gas (N168,000,000.00); Sylvan Mcnamara Ltd (N167,500,000.00); Northline Ltd (N835,000.00); Northline Ltd (N83,750,000.00); Five Star Ltd N(37,600,000.00); A.B.A Trading Ent (N268,301,500.00); Villagolf Bureaux De (N1,425,000.00); Ahmad Ahmad &Omar (N350,000.000); Northline Ltd (N1,680,000.00); Northline Limited A (N2,325,300); Rehoboth Homes (N20,000,0000); Northline Ltd (N5,932,500.00); Northline Ltd (N842,500); Northline Ltd (N842,500.00).

The EFCC also exposed how N1, 219, 490,000 was allegedly flown to Akure Airport on June 12, 2014 to Fayose through his associate, Abiodun Agbele (aka Abbey).

According to the report, “On June 12, 2014, barely 10 days to the Ekiti State governorship election, Obanikoro and a man, who claimed to be his Aide-de-Camp by the name of A. O. Adewale, chartered a private jet belonging to OAS Helicopters.


“About N724,500,000 was conveyed on the plane with tail number N638MA. The plane was an HS125 jet, operated by Okin Travellers, a subsidiary of Elizade. The plane landed at Akure at 9.38am and then went back to Lagos to get an extra N494,900,000 and landed at Akure at 5.57pm.

“Obanikoro handed the money over to one Abiodun Agbele, otherwise known as Abey, an associate of Fayose. Officials of Zenith Bank arrived at the tarmac in a bullion van to convey all the cash to the bank’s vault, located at 13 Alagbaka Estate, Akure.”

EFCC detective also revealed how Abey shared the money.

“Abbey directed the bank to pay N137m into the account of Ayodele Fayose with number 1003126654 and Bank Verification Number 22338867502. The bank teller dated June 26, 2014, was filled by Abbey with teller number 0556814.

“Abbey directed the bank to transfer N118,760,000 to the same account and paid in N50m cash into Fayose’s account.

“On April 7, 2015, several months later, Fayose personally moved N300m to his fixed deposit account at Zenith Bank with number 9013074033 with the same BVN. The account is domiciled at 15 Olusola Abiona Street, Estate, Alapere, Ketu, Lagos.”

Meanwhile, a top official of the EFCC said: “Fayose benefited from the ONSA slush funds when he was yet to be a governor. So, the fact that he has immunity now as a governor does not mean we should not investigate him.

“The EFCC also has the right to interact with all those connected with the illegal withdrawal of public funds and the diversion of the cash.”

Regarding the fate of Fayose’s associate, the source added: “We will invite him for interrogation; we have already initiated the process.”

The federal government has established and e-agricultural portal that will help the country attain self-sufficiency in food production. The portal, www.eagriculture.com.ng or www.eagriculture.org.ng was developed by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

The minister of agriculture and rural development, Audu Ogbeh commending the agency said the portal will help increase patronage of Nigeria’s agricultural products internationally and locally.

Ogbeh said: “Our produce will also enjoy quality control and provide necessary information to importers of our farm product.”

“We will collaborate with your agency on this laudable initiative and we are starting right now by constituting a working team that will work further on the contents of the portal because it is very key for the effectiveness of the project,” Ogbeh said.
The minister also said the team that produce portal have been saddled with the responsibility of ensuring the elimination of inaccurate information and data on the portal.


He urged the agency to make provisions for the sourcing of agricultural finances in the portal to enable farmers have a lead for credit facilities for their businesses.

Also speaking, the acting director general of the agency, Vincent Olatunji said the project is expected to provide an information communications and technology-driven agricultural sector.

Olatunji said: “The portal is a one-stop shop for all relevant stakeholders in the agriculture sector to unlock the full potentials of agriculture as business.”

Olatunji said information on the portal would increase the agricultural value chain of the farmers to the final consumers as well as agro allied companies.
Citing an example of the Rwandan coffee plantation, Olatunji said the portal will serve as a link between farmers, stakeholders and bulk purchase buyers of agricultural products.

He also said the portal will create opportunities for farmers and other industry stakeholders, serves as data collation/dissemination repository – whereby information on local and global dynamics, market trends, commodity prices, and other relevant data, help provide access to e-Learning services and field training resources for industry focus groups like agriculture extension workers and other field operatives.

It will also provide access to updated farming techniques and practices as well as other relevant information and resources for farmers and other industry stakeholders.

“It is envisioned that the escalation of national e-agriculture web portal, led by FMARD with funding and collaboration from NITDA will enhance and sustain value chain capacity by engaging new, empowering old stakeholders with fully interactive and actionable e-agriculture platform components,” Olatunji said.
