This latest alert from the US Embassy here in Nigeria about the much talked about Ebola virus is a sort of relief especially to those who have been reading so many scary and panic information online. Even the statements from the Federal government yesterday doesn't help matter. So now make sure you read this information and have some peace of mind. Read below... In order to help our Embassy Community better understand some of the key points about the Ebola virus we have consulted with our medical specialists at the U S State Department and assembled this list of bullet points worded in plain language for easy comprehension. Our medical specialists remind everyone that they should be following the guideline from the center for Disease Control and the World Health Organisation. • The suspected reservoirs for Ebola are fruit bats. • Transmission to humans is thought to originate from infected bats or primates that have become infected by bats. • Undercooked infected bat and primate (bush) meat transmits the virus to humans. • Human to human transmission is only achieved by physical contact with a person who is acutely and gravely ill from the Ebola virus or their body fluids. Continue... • Transmission among humans is almost exclusively among caregiver family members or health care workers tending to the very ill. • The virus is easily killed by contact with soap, bleach, sunlight, or drying. A washing machine will kill the virus in clothing saturated with infected body fluids. • A person can incubate the virus without symptoms for 2-21 days, the average being 5-8 days before becoming ill. THEY ARE NOT CONTAGIOUS until they are acutely ill. • Only when ill does the viral load express itself first in the blood and then in other bodily fluids (to include vomit, feces, urine, breast milk, semen and sweat). • If you are walking around you are not infectious to others. • There are documented cases from Kikwit, DRC of an Ebola outbreak in a village that had the custom of children never touching an ill adult. Children living for days in small one room huts with parents who died from Ebola did not become infected. • You cannot contract Ebola by handling money, buying local bread or swimming in a pool. • There is no medical reason to stop flights, close borders, restrict travel or close embassies, businesses or schools. • As always practice good hand washing techniques, but you will not contract Ebola if you do not touch a dying person. Please share this information with your friends and families and try not to spread panic on social media. |
Dis my TY sister and Ainol and PiPo will not kill us ooo. We are coming again sha.................. |

Tanx alot Yoney. Will revert to you as soon as I get any update(s) from here. Cheers. Yoney007: Good morning Sir, I just got off the phone with EMS Speedpost Customer Service (08033957069), he explained that they are yet to enable tracking of domestic goods on their website, that what the staff I met told me was a "tracking number" is actually "item number" hence we couldn't track it (obviously I met a daft staff on seat the day I sent it because she didn't explain this at all). He said the item arrived Minna yesterday and would be delivered ttoday "all things being equal". So relax it will be delivered "hopefully" today. Have a super day ahead Sir. |
Thank you TY. Will keep waiting even though havent also been able to track the item. I hope it would be delivered today. Do have fruitful day ahead. Good morning. Sorry about the data loss TY. I sympathize with you. I can imagine how frustrating and challenging it could be for the Nairaland Team in pursing the recovery process. All shall be well. However, business is still ongoing at TYConcepts. Even though I couldn't follow up on her NL page to see/know what's latest, I am able to get to her via her FaceBook page and Whatsapp. The business deals and Customer Care are still as honest, clean and excellent as usual. While I invite prospective customers to patronize her, I encourage the oldies/regulars to sympathize with her. A word of encoragment maybe all she needs NOW!!! Cheers. |

My brother just used a pix he took now in Abuja as his profile pix on 2go. It shows NLC protests featuring the gathering of many people and road blocks. Can anyone tell us what the matter really is ![]() |
Me too pls: icansimeon@accountant.com. Thanks and regards. |
I really wish some of you making unguarded comments could get down to the roots of the problem. It rather quite unfortunate that this happened to him. I wouldn't wanna say so much but this man is very, very well-known to me and our family. Actually, my dad was his best-man over 30yrs ago during his wedding. This place isn't gud enof for me to say certain things that had happen wich has led to his dismisal...but we know the hidden facts. I jst want to say very objectively that this man isn't guilty. He is such a respected, quiet gentleman and grandfather. His children are also well-trained. ABU, Zaria have been looking for how to get rid of him for a long time esp as he has been rising steadily and the usual xtianity factor in d north. Dear friends, there is more in this issue than meets the eye but we know God is in control. |

Poverty is curse in Nigeria; no wonder people steal and kill just to make money: For Temitope Sanni, the birth of a set of triplets has become more of a curse than blessing: Shortly after they were born, the babies, all boys, died one after the other. Reason being that she and her husband could not raise the N4,000 required of them to buy drugs. Because of the family’s indigent condition, she delivered the babies at home... In the parlour of their Face-Me-I-Face-You house at Ilogbo, a town close to Sango-Ota, Ogun State. The home delivery was carried out by her niece. Seeing that the kids were too fragile, the mother and father were advised to take them to a clinic. At a nearby clinic, Damisile Medical Centre, the family was advised to rush the babies to a general hospital. With N2,500 as all they could gather, the family rushed the babies to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), but were told that there were no beds to admit the babies and their mother. The mother and father dashed out of LASUTH and went to the Federal Government-owned Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH). By the time they arrived at LUTH, one of the babies had died. At LUTH, they were told to go buy some drugs for the remaining two boys. The total cost of the drugs was put at N4,000. They couldn't raise N4,000 and nobody in the hospital was willing to help. According to Nigerian Compass, having paid transport fare from their home, first to LASUTH and then to LUTH, the total money left on the mother, a petty trader, and her husband was N1,850. In frustration, they left for home hoping to raise money from family friends. By the time they got home some 30 minutes after, another of the boys had died. Few hours after, the third also died. PLEASE: do we have government in this country? Olufamous.com observed that ex-militants are giving billions of Naira, Boko Haram is being begged to take amnesty involving billions of Naira... ...but National Assembly say they can't make financial provision for the poor and vulnerable. How sad! |

Hi Nlanders,I know a couple who got married about 2months ago and d wife hasn't conceived yet. Recenlty, she was diagnosed with 'Slight/Moderate growth of staph" after a lab test. Both she and her husband have been placed on 500ml Levofloxine and anoda one I can't recall. It will take two weeks to complete the dosage thereafter return to the hospital for anoda test after 4weeks on the dosage. I want to ask that could it be the Staph that is causing the inconception? Is it that the husband also jas the infection? Is the dosage going to cure or minimise the infection? Is it ok to combine herbal treatment as other friends are suggesting? What's your general advice? Thank you |

The Central Bank of Nigeria and the Bankers Committee on Tuesday finally agreed to put a stop to all charges associated with the use of Automated Teller Machines. The agreement was the highpoint of a meeting between the committee made up of Chief Executive Officers of Deposit Money Banks, and directors and top officials of the CBN. At the end of the meeting, the Director, Banking Supervision Department, CBN, Mrs. Agnes Martins, addressed journalists in company with the Group Managing Director, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, Mr. Emeka Emuwa; Group Managing Director, First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Mr. Bisi Onasanya; and acting Managing Director, Keystone Bank Limited, Dr. Shehu Muhammed. Before now, account holders had been made to pay a flat rate of N100 per withdrawal any time they used ATMs other than the ones that belonged to their banks. But Onasanya said the decision to stop the charge would help to increase the patronage of ATMs, thus deepening the financial inclusion strategy of the central bank. He said the modalities for the stoppage were being worked out, adding that within the shortest time possible, the adjustments would be reflected on all the ATMs. |
