The Adeosun/Idi Orogbo Community in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State was thrown into shock on Sunday when they found of one of their landlords, Mr John Aderemi Abiola, in his room, almost four years after he was last seen in December 2018.

Group of church women spotted lying on the road in Umuahia praying to God for good leaders

A group of women said to be from Methodist Church Nigeria were spotted praying at the popular OPET junction in Umuahia, Abia State on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.

According to eyewitnesses, the women were wailing in prayer for God to send good leaders to save Abia State.

Facebook user, Victor Dickson who shared a video from the scene said the women were "pleading and uprooting every faulty foundation in Abia state."

Some stranded Nigerian nationals have taken to social media to plead with the federal government to come to their aid following mass deportation embarked upon by Dubai authorities.

A lady who spoke in one of the videos said Nigerians are not being represented in the process. She also asked if there's a functional embassy or active ambassador in the country.

She went on to reveal that some of those who registered for the mass deportation exercise with a valid passport, were granted a pass by Dubai authorities and now waiting for airplanes that will convey them to arrive.

Peter Obi visits Afrobeat singer, Femi Kuti

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has visited Afrobeat singer Femi, Anikulapo- Kuti at his residence.

Obi's visit comes days after the singer had shared a video on his Instagram page stating why he can never be a supporter of the ‘Obidient’ movement. Kuti released the video while reacting to the backlash he received after some people claimed he called the supporters of the Labour party presidential candidate Zombies.

“Did I call Peter Obi's supporters Zombies? Did I say that? No! I don't know what the term means and I am not using it for myself. Do I support Obi? No! Do I support Atiku? Definitely not! Do I support Tinubu? Please don't look for my trouble?''he said in the video he released

Blackout across the country as Electricity workers begin strike, shut down transmission stations

Many parts of the country are currently experiencing power outages as members of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) commenced an indefinite industrial action today August 17.

Members of the electricity union are protesting the nonpayment of outstanding arrears owed to former workers of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), suspension of conditions of service and career path for workers and the directive by the TCN board to conduct promotion interviews for acting principal managers who are moving to Assistant General Managers .

According to data from the Independent System Operation (ISO), a section of TCN, power generation on the grid was 4,149.40MW as of 6am from 21 power plants on Wednesday but drastically dropped to 1,635MW from 17 plants.

By 12 noon, the grid had crashed to 1,246.40MW as three power plants went off, and by 1pm, the grid dropped to 762.30MW with just 13 plants active. The peak generation achieved on Tuesday was 4,829MW.

Some of the transmission companies have taken to social media to inform their customers of the power cut due to the strike. 

The striking workers have vowed not to resume work until all their demands are met by the Federal Government.
