By AFP | AFP – Sun, Sep 29, 2013 A Saudi cleric sparked a wave of mockery online when he warned women that driving would affect their ovaries and bring "clinical disorders" upon their children. The warning came ahead of an October 26 initiative to defy a longstanding driving ban on women in the ultra-conservative kingdom. "Physiological science" has found that driving "automatically affects the ovaries and pushes up the pelvis," Sheikh Saleh al-Luhaydan warned women in remarks to local news website Sabq.org. "This is why we find that children born to most women who continuously drive suffer from clinical disorders of varying degrees," he said. His comments prompted criticism on Twitter, which has become a rare platform for Saudis to voice their opinions in the absolute monarchy. "What a mentality we have. People went to space and you still ban women from driving. Idiots," said one comment. "When idiocy marries dogma in the chapel of medieval traditions, this is their prodigal child," wrote a female tweeter. Luhaydan, a member of the senior Ulema (Muslim scholars) Commission and former head of the Supreme Judicial Council, said that "evidence from the Quran and Sunna (the teachings of the Prophet Mohammed) completely prohibit (women's driving) on moral and social background." An online petition titled "Oct 26th, driving for women" amassed nearly 12,000 signatures, while access to it was blocked in the kingdom on Sunday. Saudi Arabia is the only country where women are banned from driving. Activists declared a day of defiance against the ban on June 17, 2011, but few women answered the call to drive. Some of those who did were stopped by police and forced to sign a pledge not to take to the wheel again. Saudi Arabia imposes other restrictions on women, including a requirement to cover themselves from head to toe when in public. The 2011 call, which spread through Facebook and Twitter, was the largest mass action since November 1990, when 47 Saudi women were arrested and severely punished after demonstrating in cars. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/saudi-cleric-says-driving-hurts-womens-ovaries-115516429.html#J23Cl3d |

Dede1: Do not pay any mind to the fool that goes by the name Yusuf Maitama-Sule. He was one of the foot soldiers to Ahmadu Bello who canvassed for northern region for northerners. He supported a mere Lt Col to usurp the position of Head of State when there was a superior officer with the rank of Brigadier and second in command to the so-called missing Head of State. This moronic dingbat joined forces with ill-informed dullards to persecute a war against the group of people that wanted meaningfulness in philosophy, intellectualism, politics and creativity.+10000 |

FRIDAY, 07 DECEMBER 2012 19:57 FROM SAXONE AKHAINE, KADUNA AREWA leaders have blamed the political and social predicament facing the region on the failure of the Federal Government to improve the welfare of the people and also guarantee freedom and rights of citizens, saying that this has accounted for the current state of siege in the North. The buck-passing arising from the dwindling political fortune of the region and the insecurity pervading the geographical area was part of the outcome expressed in the communiqué issued by the northern elders after a two-day symposium held at Arewa House, Kaduna. In the communiqué issued and read by a one-time member of the House of Representatives, Dr. Usman Bugaje, the Arewa leaders lamented that “the weakening nature and perhaps the failure of the Nigerian State to protect lives and property as well as its inability to provide basic social services and guarantee freedom and rights of citizens cumulatively accounts for the current state of siege in which the North now finds itself.” According to Bugaje, “the systematic erosion of cherished values of honesty, tolerance and integrity that were once the hallmark of public service in the North have resulted in bad governance, disregard for the rule of law and general decadence.” He also noted that “Social indicators and statistics for all human development perspectives show the dismal crises in education, health, water and sanitation services, thereby placing the region far below its counterparts in the country,” pointing out that “the effect of the current insurgency of Ahlas Sunna li dawa’ati wal Jihad and other forms of insecurity have impacted negatively on the socio-economic, political and the religious life of the people.” The Arewa leaders further argued: “Economic growth and development, commerce and trade in both formal and informal sectors of the northern states are being stifled with multiplier on the larger national and African sub-regional economies. The general conduct of the JTF and how the fundamental rights of the citizens of the north are being violated in clear breach of the rules of engagement. It is expected that the JTF will strictly abide by the professional terms of engagement in the interest of peace.” http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=107027:northern-leaders-blame-jonathans-administration-for-regions-problems&catid=1:national&Itemid=559 |

[/quote]When I left the house. If the man had beaten me more than he did, I would have died. He is too strong so, that is why I am saying no to the claim by the police that we were armed, if we had a gun, we would have fired him, rather we escaped from him.” Showing some wounds on his body, he said, “look at my body, all the injuries were from the man. He even injured me on my joystick. He beat me black and blue.”This is so funny. ![]() |

talktimi: Nagoma is a fool here. When Buhari and Atiku openly threatened to make Nigeria ungovernable for Goodluck, nobody took them serious. Definitely they have foot soldiers ready to do their dirty work with the promise of 70 virgins in heaven. Such a lousy religeon islam is but I won't blame them because mohammed is a debased child molester and adulterer who teaches peadophilia and violence against human beings. Senile buhari will soon have his cup filled while gay atiku will soon be serviced by inmates at kirikiri. Down with islam, down with boko haram ![]() |
05 Dec 2012 The Nigeria Hockey Federation (NHF) Tuesday disqualified the Ekiti male hockey team from participating at the ongoing 18th National Sports Festival (NSF) over identity distortion and fielding of ineligible players. The Technical Director of NHF, Walter Imoedemhe, disclosed that the offence was against the sports festival's rules. He said that Team Rivers on Monday protested Team Ekiti’s fielding of ineligible players which led the NHF jury, after a thorough investigation, to disqualify Ekiti players. Imoedemhe reiterated that the federation would no longer tolerate such offences, saying that they could bring both the NHF and the National Sports Commission (NSC) into disrepute. “I am still warning that states should desist from these acts which will not portray the NHF in good light. Stiffer penalties will be given to any erring state which is found culpable,'' the technical director warned. NAN reports that Ondo State female team was also disqualified for the same offence on Monday. As a result of the disqualification, Ondo lost three points, as well as three goals and also paid a fine of N10, 000 to their Lagos counterparts, who lodged the complaint. In the men’s matches played on Monday, Team Adamawa and Team Oyo drew 0-0 at the end of regulation time as the game was decided 3-2 through a penalty shoot-out, in favour of Adamawa. Team Kaduna also defeated team Anambra 1-0, Team Plateau held Team Imo to a 0-0 draw, while Team Bauchi lost 0-3 to Team Lagos. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/nhf-disqualifies-ekiti-male-hockey-team/132622/ |
