A commercial motorcyclist, identified as Adewale Aderogba, has been found dead at the entrance of a Pentecostal church at Amuludun Street, Ondo town, Ondo State. The incident, which happened on Friday, threw residents into confusion as many fled for fear of being arrested by the police. Though the cause of the death of the middle-aged man was not known as of press time, a police source said the deceased was epileptic. According to him, the deceased had gone out with a friend to drink on Friday and his lifeless body was found on Saturday on the church’s premises. Some of the residents of the area asked the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. It was gathered that the police had already arrested the deceased’s friend who went out with him to drink, for interrogation. The Police Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Mr. Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident. He said, “He was epileptic and at the same time a drunk. He went out with his friend to drink. At that point, he had an epileptic crisis and his friend rushed him to the church for resuscitation and spiritual healing; but he died on the way.” Joseph added that the police did not suspect any foul play in the incident. http://punchng.com/drunk-epileptic-dies-on-church-premises/ lalasticlala, Mynd44 |
John Obi Mikel scored his first goal for Chinese Side Tianjin Teda to power them to a 2-0 win over Chongqing Lifan in the Chinese Super League Super Eagles’ Captain, John Obi Mikel scored his first goal for Chinese Side Tianjin Teda to power them to a 2-0 win over Chongqing Lifan in the Chinese Super League, reports owngoalnigeria.com. Mikel recovered from a knock that was supposed to keep him out for 10 days, and was handed a start by coach Jaime Pacheco, who also picked Mikel’s Nigeria national team teammate Brown Ideye to lead the attack. The former Chelsea ace, who now plays as a central defender, showed his predatory instinct in the 48th minute when he reacted quickly to tuck home the opener for his team after the Lifan goalkeeper parried a well hit drive from Mbaye Diagne. During the course of the game, the 29-year-old proved his effectiveness at both ends of the pitch as he made two vital clearances to deny Lifan goal scoring opportunities. Mikel hard an injury scare in the 90th minute when he went down unchallenged and had to be taken off the pitch for medical attention with what looked like a recurrence of the injury that he suffered in the earlier game. However, it proved not to be the case as he returned to the pitch and lasted the entire duration of the game, while Ideye was substituted after 65 minute. Ideye is still waiting for his first goal in China. http://www.emmanuelbabatunde.com/2017/04/sport-football-mikels-first-goal-lifts.html lalasticlala, Mynd44

The high-living dictator, known for his love of French cheeses, fine wine and whiskey, blew £33,000 buying spirits from the US last year. But it seems he does not mind a drop of the hard stuff brewed in the nation of his arch-enemy. Import data reveals that in the previous four years, officials in Pyongyang did not purchase any alcohol at all from the US, famous for Jim Beam and Jack Daniel’s. But he spent tens of thousands last year. He also blew £127,000 on German booze, £107,000 on spirits from Denmark and £38,000 on alcoholic beverages from the Russian Federation. With millions of his subjects on the bread line, Kim’s Government imported £74,000 worth of German wines, £18,000 of Italian brands, with £10,000 spent on Spanish drinks. Luxury beverages are reserved for Kim and his elite in the capital Pyongyang. Another £48,000 went on premium German beers and £6,000 on ale from Denmark - home of Carlsberg. Roly poly Kim, who developed a love of Emmental cheese while studying in Switzerland, appears to have now fallen in love with dairy products from Italy. Figures from Trademap - a body which logs imports and exports across the globe - revealed that £48,000 was spent on cheese from the country. Fine Brazilian coffee was another favourite with £715,000 in orders last year, as opposed to just £60,000 in 2015. Meanwhile more than two million of his subjects are struggling to get decent food supplies, according to the UN. Kim's bar bill includes: • £127,000 on German booze • £107,000 on spirits from Denmark • £38,000 on alcoholic beverages from the Russian Federation And his 2016 round of drinks included: • £74,000 worth of German wines. • £18,000 of Italian brands (to go with the finest cheeses) • £10,000 on Spanish plonk • £48,000 on ‘premium beers’ from Germany • £6,000 on ale from Denmark, home of Carlsberg • £715,000 on Brazilian coffee (for the morning after). Pastor Robinson Githumba, 40, of Eagle Prophetic Church camped at the Gakwegori funeral from 8 am for the mission. With bibles, they prayed enthusiastically, singing and shouting at the top of their voices expecting a miracle. They intend to resurrect Polly Kagendo, 38, who died of TB on Sunday. Githumba insisted that his wife was not dead but only resting and would resurrect on the fourth day like the biblical Lazarus. The pastor traveled from Rwika Village, Mbeere South sub-county with his followers. He asked the mortuary attendants to remove his wife's body and put it in an open place for the prayers. Drenched in sweat, they continued until 5pm when the attendants sought to return the body as they were to close for the day. The pastor and his team did not allow the press to enter the mortuary, only speaking to members of the media outside. He said his wife fell sick and was rushed to Mwea hospital where she passed way. He carried for her clothes to put in case she rose. She was later transferred to the funeral home for preservation. Githumba said he believes his wife, 'whom he loved so much', will rise again. "That is why we are praying for her resurrection. We know God is the most powerful being." "I know she will be visited after three days the way Jesus visited Lazarus and woke him up from the dead," he said. "I know this will also happen to my wife," Githumba, a father of four, said. The woman is set to be buried on Saturday. But with the current development, the plan is likely to change. http://www.emmanuelbabatunde.com/2017/03/pastor-storms-mortuary-in-nairobi-to.html CC: lalasticlala, Mynd44, Hahn, Lennycool, uncleSnr, plaetton, Solidkay, femolacqua, donnffd

K. Kadurumba, in Owerri, the Imo State capital. Punch Metro learnt that Udeozo had jumped bail in Uli, Anambra State, some years back, after he was arrested for impersonation. He allegedly ran to Owerri, where he started practising as a lawyer in the chambers of a private firm, until luck ran out on him. The Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association, Owerri branch, Lawrence Nwakaeti, invited the police, who arrested him on March 23, 2017. He was subsequently charged with impersonation, forgery, among other offences, punishable under the country’s criminal code. The charges read in part, “That on March 23, 2017, in the office of the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Owerri branch, you presented a forged certificate of call to bar, dated November 20, 2012, which bears Richard Ikenna Amanoh, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 467 of the criminal code. “That you, Richard Udeozo, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid magisterial district, did present a forged qualifying certificate from the Council of Legal Education, which bears Richard Ikenna Amanoh, and presented it to the Chairman, Nigeria Bar Association, Owerri branch, as a proof of having attended the Nigerian Law School and qualified to be called to bar, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 467 of the criminal code.” The accused was equally said to have presented a forged change of name, which was published in a national daily (not The Punch) on September 24, 2012. The NBA Chairman, Owerri, Nwakaeti, who announced appearance for the association, told the court that the accused was a serial bail jumper, who had jumped bail in Anambra State over the same matter. He said, “In the interest of our legal profession, which is going down every day, I implore this court to refuse the accused bail.” The police prosecutor, S. N. Onwuchekwa, urged the court to exercise restraints in granting the accused bail, saying allowing him to walk out as a free man would put the lives of those who would testify against him in court in jeopardy. The accused, who defended himself because no lawyer agreed to stand in for him, told the court that his certificate of call to bar fell into water. He pleaded not guilty to all the charges and elected summary trial. The magistrate, Kadurumba, ordered that he should be remanded in custody until May 10, 2017, when the matter would come up for hearing. http://www.emmanuelbabatunde.com/2017/03/fake-anambra-lawyer-remanded-after-five.html |
