– The NCC has remitted N70 billon into the Federation Account – The sum is in addition to the N30 billion paid by MTN Nigeria – The NCC has also won the European Award for Best Practices 2016 The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has reported about N70 billon remitted into the Federation Account in the past year.

Yakubu Musa, the special assistant on media to the chief executive of the commission, has released an official statement that reads in part:

“This is in addition to the N30 billion paid by MTN Nigeria as a part payment of the N330billion fine slammed on it by the commission.

” The commission has also informed about their victory at the European Award for Best Practices 2016, where at least 63 countries participated. “The ceremony, which held in Brussels, Belgium, was hosted by the European Society for Quality Research (ESQR), an affiliate of the European Union (EU).”

The NCC was awarded for its outstanding commitment, results in quality management strategies promoting competition, and setting performance standards for telephone services in Nigeria The statement also promises that Prof. Umar Danbatta, the executive vice-chairman of the commission, will address a Retreat on Revenue Generation and share NCC’s experience with the participants on July 13-15 in Kano state.

Leaders of the PDP in Osun State have appealed to the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II) to come to the rescue one of them and former governor of the state, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

The appeal was made by Osun Chairman of the PDP, Adesoji Adagunodo, who led about 20 other leaders of the party who visited the paramout ruler at his Ile Oodua Palace in Ile-Ife.

A statement by the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Mr. Moses Olafare, which was posted on the Facebook page of the palace on Saturday, said state chairman of the party, during the visit to the Ooni, apologised on behalf of the detained ex-governor who had not visited the king since he was crowned seven months ago.

The PDP chief was quoted as saying as a true son of Ife and bonafide member of Oduduwa House, Omisore would be brought to the palace to do the right thing after his release.

Adagunodo said, “Your Imperial Majesty, we are here to pay our homage to you as the father of our race who must be respected by all true sons and daughters of Yoruba race.

“We also beg you in the name of Oduduwa to use your goodwill in assisting us to rescue one of our leaders, Otunba Iyiola Omisore, from the EFCC detention, even though we are not unaware of his attitude towards this sacred palace as he has refused to pay homage since you were divinely crowned seven months ago.

“We can assure you of his change of attitude as soon as he is released from detention.” In his response, the Ooni was quoted as saying he bore no grudges against Omisore. He said he would assist them, but they must first be sure that Omisore is clean of the corruption charge.

ABUJA – Following reports of planned negotiations between the federal government and the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, the leader of Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari has broken his silence, warning against his inclusion in the negotiation team.

Asari who was former national president of Ijaw Youth Congress and also the leader of Niger Delta Peoples Salvation Front, NDPSF, vowed never to negotiate with the government of President Mohammadu Buhari.

He instead accused the President of waging a genocide war against the Ijaw nation, saying that the President was paying lip service to the negotiation plan.

Asari who conveyed his views through a public disclaimer he splashed on his Facebook wall on Sunday night, stating that he believed in the cause of Ijaw Nation,Niger Delta Region and The United States of Biafra(USB).

He warned that ” for every action there must be an equal and opposite reaction….You can’t sow to the winds and expect not to harvest a whirlwind in return.”

The former warlord stated that he would never condemn the activities of the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, saying that unless there was a Sovereign National Conference, SNC, was convoked on issues of Ijaw, Niger Delta region and USB, and a plebiscite that would be monitored by the United Nations, UN, there would be no peace in the mentioned territories.

Asari wrote: “The public should note that I,Alhaji Mujahid Abubakr Dokubo-Asari,Alabo Edi Abali -Abala Buruburu 1 of Kalabari had not entered,directed,appointed or delegated any person or group of persons to negotiate or enter into dialogue with any president,vice president,governor,minister,national security adviser,any committee or institution in furtherance of the nigerian states pretension to the pursuance of peace in the occupied Ijaw,Niger Delta Region and The United States of Biafra(USB). “Therefore, anybody who had presented himself/herself claiming to me or represent me in any manner of discussion, fora or conference in furtherance of this pretentious negotiation or dialogue is a fraud and therefore should not be accorded any recognition as a person representing me, the Niger Delta Peoples Salvation Front and Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force.

“I am convinced and firmly believe that the occupation gambari and their collaborators in the Nigerian state led by General Muhammadu Buhari is not interested in any or in any type of peace in Ijaw, the Niger Delta Region,In the Territories of the United States of Biafra or even in any part of nigeria. “The body language of general Muhammadu Buhari is to carry out a genocide and a pogrom against the Ijaw,Niger Delta and the United States of Biafra(USB). “Therefore,there is no way I will be hoodwinked to be part of any sham that the government of the nigerian state led by General Muhammadu Buhari is masquerading as negotiation or dialogue that will lead to peace in the aforesaid territories….

A 64-year-woman, Iyabo Adeoti, was on Friday arraigned at the Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for duping a company of N3m.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Adeoti, a trader, who lives at No. 6, Old Otta Road, Alagbado, Lagos, is now facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and obtaining under false pretence.

The prosecutor, Clifford Ogu, told the court that the offences were committed on May 10, 2016 on AIT Road, Alagbado, Lagos.

Ogu said that the accused sold a landed property she never owned to a company, Aina Gold Estate Management, for N3m.

“When the company was about to take possession of the property, it was discovered that the accused was not the owner. All efforts to collect the money failed and the accused was apprehended,” he said.

He added that the offences contravened Sections 312 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Taiwo Akanni, granted the accused N1m bail with two sureties in like sum.

Akanni also ordered the accused to pay N100,000 into the court chief registrar’s account as part of the bail condition while she adjourned the case till July 13, 2016 for trial.
