A wannabe WAG claims she was conned into believing her boyfriend was Hull City captain Curtis Davies for 18 months – and only realised she'd been duped hours before giving birth to the fraudster’s child.

Josie Cunningham – who is best known for having undergone nearly £5,000 worth of cosmetic breast enhancement surgery on the NHS – says she was “manipulated” into having a relationship with a man pretending to be the Premier League defender.

And she is now having his baby, having gone into labour at the weekend.

Davies, who has played for West Brom, Aston Villa, Leicester and Birmingham, is hardly a celebrity footballer, making this story even more absurd.

A journeyman centre-back who has spent his career between the top flight and the Championship, Davies said he was "disappointed" in the story, which had "no legs."

Cunningham, 24, claimed she was “physically fooled” by the man, who she says is a Davies look-a-like, after he sent her photos of the 29-year-old while romancing her online.

The pair went on to have a relationship, meeting for sex in hotels, with Cunningham telling friends she was dating an unnamed Premier League star. They did not believe her, but she insisted she had bedded the star.

She only realised he was a fraud just before entering labour this weekend.

“I feel so dirty, ashamed and devastated. I've been completely manipulated by a man for 18 months pretending to be a Premiership footballer,” she said in a lengthy statement to nearly 56,000 Twitter followers.

“We weren’t in a full-blown relationship, so I didn’t see him too much. That’s how he managed to keep the lie going.

“I know I’m not that clever.”

Josie's Twitter account also features several screenshots from Facebook, where she explained the fraud in full, and some more explicit references to their relationship.

She also apologised to friend and manager Rob Cooper, who she admits warned her of the possibility that her boyfriend was not who he claimed to be.

Cunningham rejected his advice, even after asking the man to Tweet her, which he did from a clearly fake account.

It is a bizarre tale exposing the desperation for fame in modern society, and the submission of some young women to footballers, not to mention the dangers of social media and online dating.

There is also a melancholy to her comments – the lack of self confidence, the willingness to define herself by a secret relationship with a middle-ranking footballer, the dating website she has set up, tragically named "Pull the Pig".

Davies, who lives with his long-term partner, is understood to have never met Cunningham

The owner of a noodle restaurant in Shaanxi in China has confessed to adding opium to his dishes in order to ensure customers would keep coming back.

The noodles seasoned with an ingredient used to make opium were discovered when Liu Juyou tested positive for drugs during a routine urine test by traffic police, according to the Xi’an Evening News.

Juyou was adamant he hadn’t taken drugs and started to suspect the noodle shop he’d eaten at hours before. Relatives who also ate there took drug tests, and all came back positive.

According to the Hua Shang Bao daily via the BBC, the restaurant owner named Zhang, admitted to buying poppy buds containing seeds and crushed them into a powder to spread on his noodles. The powder, if it is allowed to build up, can give a positive drug test.

Prof. Chukwunenye Anene, on Tuesday advised Nigerians to harness insects as alternative rich sources of protein to other sources of protein or `bush meat’ causing Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

Anene, who is the Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences in Anambra State University, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Igbariam near Onitsha, Anambra.

The don said that with targeted research it would be possible to convert and harness some insects to produce rich protein for a very large population.

Anene, who is a Professor of Entomology and Insect Pest Management, noted that it was regrettable that very delicious and well-known sources of protein (animal meats) in Africa, especially West Africa, are today dreaded by people.

“Insects should no longer be called pests but treated fairly as food substances and alternative source of protein.

“And where the regular protein from meat is been jettisoned by many, insect could as well replace these sources of protein for man.

“So there is a need for a co-ordinated research in this direction since it had been found out that some insects, which are helpful to man, have high protein content,’’ he said.

Anene, however, urged humans to stop the indiscriminate killing of insects as they play vital role in the existence of man.

The don also advised to health workers not to subdue all insects at the same time through their in-door and out-door non-selective residual spraying as well as other unhealthy environmental practices.

Some Africans, especially those in the West Africa, have stopped eating animal meat from the wild (bush meat), which is an available and rich source of protein, due to the EVD traceable to some wild animals.

WHO has reported that the disease has claimed the lives of about 2,500 people in the West African region since it broke-out in March.

A terrifying ordeal occurred in Lagos last month when a man held down another man and raped him, a police prosecutor told an Abule Egba Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

The prosecutor, Insp. Racheal Williams alleged that the accused had drugged his victim before raping him.

“When the complainant woke up, his anus was paining him and there was some left-over semen in it,’’ she said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused, 38-year-old Sali Malu, a gatekeeper, lives at 31, Peace Estate, Ipaja, a suburb of Lagos.

He is facing a two-count charge of sexual assault and causing a breach of peace.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge of raping a fellow gatekeeper (names withheld) and breach of peace.

Williams said the offences were committed on March 23 in the house of the accused.

“The complainant (names withheld), who is also a gatekeeper in the estate, went to the room of the accused to charge his phone.

“The accused gave him food to eat. The man did not know that the food had been laced with drug.

“After eating the food, he slept off only to wake up to the reality that he had been raped,’’ she told the court.

The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravene Section 166 (d) and 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Ruling on the bail application of the accused, the Magistrate, Tajudeen Elias, granted the accused a bail of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case has been adjourned to May 5 for mention. (NAN)

A consultant at the Lagos University Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, Professor Adebukola Ositelu, has said Ewedu ‎which is known in English as the Long-Fruited vegetable, is capable of preventing and curing the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) by boosting the immune system.

Ositelu stated this at the annual African Traditional Medicine Day organised by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on Thursday, at Ikeja, Lagos.

According to her, the vegetable had a high potency to boost the immune system such that it’s usage would prevent an individual from being infected with Ebola, or get rid of the virus in the case of an infected person.

She, however, noted that chances of being cured by an intake of Ewedu when a victim has gotten to the stage of vomiting was low, but could still be administered.

Ositelu, who is a professor of ‎Ophthalmology at the University of Lagos, Akoka (UNILAG), said to administer the ‘treatment’, the Ewedu should be rinsed thoroughly with liquid vinegar “blend and cook with drinkable water, without adding salt or kaun (pottash) or any other ingredients; then take a 25cl or half a tumbler measure once a week, first thing in the morning before any meal” for prevention, adding that those already infected should take it every morning for seven to five days.

It takes about two and a half months to prep all the sperm expelled in the average ejaculation. It initially forms in the testicles then moves up to the epididymis. Addis Ababa – The Police in Kenya said Tuesday said they were battling to contain a new trend of commercial sex tourism that targets young boys in the coastal towns of the country .
The reports monitored from a local radio station, quoted Police as saying the trend had caused the rise in the sale pampers in the region due to the rising health problems among boys indulging in the act.
Malindi sub county Deputy Police Commissioner, Joshua Nkanatha told Kenya local radio that boys from poor families were being lured into the trade by rich male tourists.
The Police official said the situation had lead to an increase in number of cases of HIV/AIDS spread in the area.
“A survey we conducted shows that boys engaging in sexual activities with male tourists are buying pampers because they can no longer hold their stool, “Nkanatha said.
Nkanatha, who spoke during a Public Baraza at HGM primary school, Malindi said “male prostitution had become high
in Malindi and contributing to increased cases of HIV and AIDS.
He urged educated and concerned members of the public to take up the responsibility of enlightening the youths
about the health risks of engaging in the vice.

A Nigerian Family friend of mine from French city of Lyon are going through emotional trauma now because their only son is a confirmed gay.Their son,aged 20 is now living with his partner (A man),they now planning to legalise their union by getting married this december.The boy seems very happy and fulfilled but his parents especially his dad is gradually going insane about his only son sexual orientation.Though his two younger sisters are doing very well in school but his dad considered him as a natural heir and symbol his struggle.
His parents attempts at making him to change his attitudes towards same sex backfired as the poor boy see such parental intervention as threats to his freedom of choice and liberty.
To restrain his parents and protect his privacy the boy is now armed with court order restraining his parents at least 100 meters square from him and banning them from calling or chatting with him.Nairalanders, if this boy is your only son how would you react?

No fewer than five goats were yesterday arrested at Dele-Yesa area in Osogbo, the Osun State capital by officials of the state Waste Management Agency (OWMA) for allegedly violating environmental laws. Seven Cameroon athletes have disappeared while in Britain for the London Olympics, according to the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education.

The seven - five boxers, a swimmer and a footballer - are suspected of having left to stay in Europe for economic reasons.

"What began as rumour has finally turned out to be true. Seven Cameroonian athletes who participated at the 2012 London Olympic Games have disappeared from the Olympic Village," David Ojong, the mission head said in a message sent to the ministry.

Ojong said a reserve goalkeeper for the women's football team, Drusille Ngako, was the first to disappear. She was not one of the 18 finally retained after pre-Olympic training in Scotland.

While her team-mates left for Coventry for their last preparatory encounter against New Zealand, she vanished. A few days later, swimmer Paul Ekane Edingue and his personal belongings were also not found in his room.

Ojong added that five boxers eliminated from the games, Thomas Essomba, Christian Donfack Adjoufack, Abdon Mewoli, Blaise Yepmou Mendouo and Serge Ambomo, disappeared on Sunday from the Olympic village.

International Olympic Committee officials said on Tuesday they had heard nothing about the missing athletes.

"We are unaware of it," IOC spokesman Mark Adams said when asked whether organisers had heard of it.

It is not the first time Cameroonian athletes have disappeared during international sports competitions.

At past Francophonie and Commonwealth games as well as junior football competitions, several Cameroonians have quit their delegation without official consent.
