gbengadada2004: Sincerely, I don't think threatening ASUU to go back to class (without any concrete and documented agreement) is a rational thing to do. Nigerian leaders are shameless. Primary schools in some other countries are better than the best Nigerian university. I spent my first few months abroad weeping. I was asking God and myself: ''why is Nigeria like this''? Nigerian students sit on benches (some don't even have seats) including where I lecture. Many lecturers do not have office blocks. I have never used power point to teach in Nigeria (because there is no facility to carry it). Researches are not funded. Lecturers are paid peanuts. I told someone my salary and he was surprised. Lecturers earn over £4000 monthly (1millon naira) in the UK. They have grants (some over £1million in 2 years) to conduct research. They have access to world-class journals free, textbooks and other teaching materials. Many teach just one or two courses (I was teaching 8 in a week). Many of the people that kept Nigeria where it is today have their children abroad, and these children are sponsored with stolen wealth (I know how many are in my school). Sometimes I wonder if Nigerian political actors have conscience at all.
No mata what u say Nigeria is not UK, neither is their Gdp d same or their revenue reserve! Even when money is allocated pple from d top of the university hierachy syphone money e.g my school.I don't support d FG totally buh neither do I support ASUU, there shld look for ways to solve or attack the problem with minimal losses! Sinz they r "intellectuals" they shld think for the country not their selvez u wld b surprised @ d turn out! Anoda big diff btw the UK nd Nigeria is dat doz pple are nationalistic and patriotic in perspective dan we r, we r so divided due to so many factors I won't be surpised if dz strike is not an act of sabotage!

Me av been out of school for abt 7mnths na due to internal greed by school heads, v felt nd I understand d meaning of ASUU r being as greedy nd **** as the FG. I knw about 7 people who have died bcoz of dz strike, I no wat v been thru personally bcoz of dz strike nd yet bcoz of one man died, dey postponed a whole important meeting instead of giving one minutes silence! What was d point @ #TeamASUU?

unmask: They are sacrificing themselves, what happens if the FG sacks them all like it was done in ilorin and I think in rivers?.......they have nothing to fall back on, and would most likely be forced to start from scratch......my point is ASUU isn't the enemy, the FG is......their language of comprehension is strike..
abeg no deceive ur self o.Most of my lecturers dnt have teaching as dia only source, besyds what have been hearin is their income income, dey r not fighting for any educational restructurin @ all! See dem for who dey r liars they r only using what dey can to make u sympathetic! Human nature is that of greed! As for d language to FG its like a child whining "mummy see" d mum has turned and look it aint dat interesting so d child keeps whining and she ignores buh is not ingnorant just dat d sounds are now so monotonous it has turned to a bakgrownd song!

What aam I even saying, this varsity groups can be so selfish, see my school dere was a riot what was d cause toped prices, new fees and what have u, a community of dat population paying such amount does d government want to get revenue from students too? The state government gave the school 10mill for damges not worth 400k and the school has asked for another surcharge, and they are still d first to join d strike after all doz money! If ASUU is soo ryt y r universities calling off? Negotiations r done with compromises and tactics are changed or renewed!Damn

Its annoying wen u people mention d signing like its a small thing. The cbn is still struggling to improve the economy and u expect him to sign a continous binding agreement of 220b dat equals anoda countries gdp ratio! When dey hold dz kind of meeting people like d cbn governor don't think of the now, they consider d future unlike our lovely ASUU presido(esp with d forecast of decline in oil price internationally due to a new discovery. Besydz all dz while they've been striking how much good has it done sinz dey r so much of intellects without brains y don't dey decide to involeve foreign bodies that would sacre GeJ into abiding by d dictates of the treaty! Deep down we knw dat borth factions (FG and ASUU) r doing dz for their own selfish reasons dz is d battle of d most selfish! None of dem is too ryt or tooo wrong!

Lucentbeauty: The reading group would help, you just need encouragement. One book a week or a month depends on you as long as it gets u reading again.
What!!! When I said I don't read novels I meant not as much as b4 plus it ddnt mean I had given up on books I still read oda tinz moreover I'm a sudent.
I just read one big marine fiction novel last week nd m reading KmJ's fiction, my God wat would my life look like without books? shocked
LiteratureRe: Confessions Of A Bookworm. by idarakriz(f):
Honestly litz class was totally boring except wen my teacher used me as show off!wink I had read most of the novels they handled from juniour to senior school by co-incidence.
I totally loved novels initially I wasn't like that though buh by the age of seven I read one book 'the vicar' it was totally awesome with magic and children saving the world then I hit it hard with chinua's "Things Fall Apart". From then on there was no turning back.
I loved big novelz bcoz of how it could keep me engrossed for days.I was lucky my dad was widely read too it gave me access to lots of books wen I ran out of those to borrow from I an art student began reading science books, philosophy, economics psychology. Funny thing was I never saw myself as a bookworm or nerd for once.
Its surprising to know that I don't have as much flare for reading my books now am in varsity where I need it most. sad Buh am totally glad I read those books I read though I stopped reading novels especially romance plus I was displeased with the stereotype theory that girls read novelz more bcoz of how fragile they were and would want to create a comfort nook for themselves by reading and believing fantasies and fictions!Though I noticed girls actually read more cheesy.Though I felt it was the same with watching movies too much entertainment coz am also a couch potato! Nothing would compare to the luxury of living in a totally different world as I did den! smiley grin
