cicero: #istandforisraelAs you stand for Israel so are some people standing for BOKOHARAM. Condamn BOKOHARAM, Commend Israel....hypocrite! |
ukeleh: The power to make a change is not totally on the populace because most nigeria elections are not won by numbers but by power of incumbency. The greatest weapon we should use right now is patience and prayers. Personally, i believe with God everything is possible.while I think it will be senseless not to believe that God works, we should not just sit and wait because He will not come down to help us. It is in our actions that God works. Thus patience and prayer should be part of our weapons, not the greatest; the greatest weapon we have is taking action consciously to better our lives. The leadership we have are not ready to better our lives, but theirs and their family's. The more reason we are still in the unfortunate situation we found ourselves; where few are getting richer. |
Our continual unity in diversity, our firm statehoodness remain a mystery to THEM. What we would achieve if not 'tinkered' with is THEIR fear. THEY amalgamated us to break us, but alas we continue to soar higher, even in the mist of THEIR 'sponsored' chaos. What we will become if left alone is their angst. If only we ourselves would think from within, then our without THEM will be victory. We are stronger! The writer of this poem believes the plague call BOKOHARAM is the West (THEM) conspiracy to see to the dememberment of Nigeria. |
I read this, so read.... It is indubitable that a nation without a firm hand at the helm, especially if its institutions are as feeble as the grasp of a new baby, will ever experience any tangible growth in any area be it economic, education, agriculture etc. Histories of great nations have always shown that it takes firm and courageous steps to achieve any modicum of development. It is evident likewise that principles, idealogies and whatnots require steadfast, bold-heart and firm mortal to champion, and to rivet the tenets of such principles or idealogies on whatever group it chooses to stand with. Since the outset of this present democracy in Nigeria, we have had three eras of leadership. At the inception in 1999, we started with the imperial generalissimo himself, Olusegun Obasanjo (OBJ). In my opinion, I believe OBJ's style of leadership was what we needed at the time he helmed. He was a firm leader ( or ruler as some would say) and he was able to achieve the little we now enjoy as dividend of democracy. Hardly will one see or hear of all these outright impunities we have today. Nigerians felt his leadership whichever way one looks at it. Internationally, he was respected by the West and awed by the developing nations. The international investors' confidence in his reforms brought in several FDIs and I still believe it is his efforts that is still bringing in FDIs till now, my opinion though. He was a great and quick decision- maker. But like a typical African leader, he smeared his great and patriotic efforts by his ill-conceived third term agenda and thus ended his tenure in shame, again my opinion. After the general came one of his stooge, Umaru Musa Yarad'ua, a former governor of Kastina. This second era witnessed several good start-ups, tilting towards: ending the Electricity challenges, Niger-Delta crises, re-organising of the Judiciary for the purpose instilling rule of law into the nation's system and also birthing of era of transparency in government. But all these were in start-up stages before the cold hand of death halted his existence after a long illness. I have no doubt that if he had had the opportunity of completing a term in office, Nigeria would've experienced, if not mammoth, a modicum of growth far afield of the twisted situation we found ourselves presently. After Yaradua's demise came the one Nigerian youths dubbed 'clueless one', Dr Goodluck Jonathan (GEJ). He first acted on acting capacity during his predecessor's long illness and later as a substantive President. All the laudable programmes of his predecessor were abandoned aside the one he thinks will benefit his people, the Niger-Delta crisis which he had since followed to completion, while all other programmes were either abandoned or tinker with. I am very much aware that a lot had been said and written about Mr GEJ's incompetence and cluelessness. I am very much aware that so many Nigerians are still in bathtub of regret faulting their gullibility in voting in incompetence. I am aware that the people have lost hope and faith in this Mr GEJ's government which is evident in the increasing daily vituperations of his government by Nigerians, young and old. What I am not aware of is if Nigerians know that they have the power to rewrite their history. What I am not aware of is if inspite of the hardship this present government is subjecting Nigerians to we are still hoping and believing that God or one god from somewhere will come down to help. Our patience is novel and weird. The late Fela Anikulapo Kuti puts it aptly in one of his songs, we smile in suffering. Sometimes one is made to wonder what will possibly make Nigerians go the Egypt way when even what they've so far been subjected to by Dr GEJ's government is more sordid than the Egyptians. "...Biafra warriors neglected by a country they fought against and surrendered to, a country that promised and resolved during end of war to compensate." The quote above from this interview http://www.punchng.com/feature/jebose-boulevard/before-i-die-nigeria-should-pay-me-civil-war-veteran/ of one Noka Anazia in Punch says a lot about Nigeria. Questions rove through my mind; what compensation? Again I ask why shouldn't they be compensated? I seem confused abi? Well, read the article and form your own opinion. Should these 'gallant' soldiers be compensated? Note: Gallant in quote |

I have been waiting for a newspaper to write on this. Really, the President and his re-election team had violated the electoral law of the land since TAN was formed. We see quasi campaign adverts on TV- mostly on NTA- asking people to VOTE for the President come 2015. The president is breaching the law in a way that might give him advantage over his opponents in next year’s election. New billboards urging Nigerian voters to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 presidential election have sprang up at strategic corners of Abuja against repeated warnings by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to politicians not to commence campaign before the stipulated time. PREMIUM TIMES sighted some of the billboards at the roundabout adjoining Shehu Shagari Way and Ibrahim Babangida Boulevard in the Maitama District as well as the Ahmadu Bello Way/Kur Mohammed Street junction (opposite ThisDay Dome) in the Central Business District of the federal capital territory. Unlike the previous ones scattered around the country, the new billboards, sponsored by a group, Jonathan Actualization Movement, JAM, are offensive to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2006 (as amended) because it is urging Nigerians to vote for the president. They read, “2015 VOTE JONATHAN FOR EQUITY INTEGRITY & GOOD GOVERNANCE.” With green backgrounds, the billboards have the picture of the president adorning the traditional caps and attires of the three major ethnic groups, Hausa, Yoruba and Ibo, on them. The message on the billboards does not only suggest that the president has been picked by his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as its standard bearer, it also indicates that he has opened campaign in violation of the Electoral Act, which specifies that campaigns should commence 90 days before any election. Section 99 (1-3) of the Electoral Act says: “For the purpose of this Act, the period of campaigning in public by every political party shall commence 90 days before polling day and end 24 hours prior to that day. “A registered political party which through any person acting on its behalf during the 24 hours before polling day” “Procures for publication or acquiesces in the publication of an advertisement in a Newspaper for the purpose of promoting or opposing a particular candidates, commits an offence under this Act and upon conviction is liable to a maximum fine of N500,000.” No official of JAM could be reached for comments. However, information on the group, pieced together by this newspapers, shows that it is headed by one Basirat Nahibi, who was one of the major financiers of the previous presidential campaigns of a former head of state and a leader of the opposition All Progressive Congress, APC, Muhammadu Buhari. Mr. Nahibi, who defected to the PDP last year, was quoted as listing the group’s objective to include support for Jonathan administration in actualizing its political programme; re-brand Mr. Jonathan as the right candidate for Nigerian in the 2015 election; and promote peace and stability by educating the populace on the need for unity, religion and tribal tolerance. Repeated attempts to get the Special Adviser to the President of Political Matters, Rufa’i Alkali to comment for this story failed. When PREMIUM TIMES first contacted him on his mobile telephone on Friday night, the presidential aide said he was in a short meeting. “Can we talk later because I’m in a small meeting,” he said. A few minutes later, Mr. Rufai, a professor, who was once a spokesperson for the PDP, called back to find out the name of the reporter who called on behalf of this newspaper and also assured him that he would call back. He is yet to do so as at Saturday morning when this report was published. The Independent National Election Commission, INEC, said it is not aware of the existence of the billboards in question.[b]I have been waiting for a newspaper to write on this. Shaka Zulu is said to be one of the greatest military leaders in African history, and perhaps all of history. There is controversy around the brutality of his methods, and the strictness with which he trained his troops, but in many ways, he improved warfare methods forever. Born in 1787 in what is now South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province, he died in 1828. His legacy lived on in the Zulu warriors who fought the British in 1879. The military conflict helped immortalize the Zulu in the minds of Westerners, but Zulu history was far from over in 1879. The Zulus persevered through apartheid and remain the largest ethnic group in South Africa. Here are 10 things that made Shaka Zulu a military genius. 1. He introduced a sword to the Zulu people Tired of the assegai, a long pole weapon made of wood with pointed iron at the end and thrown like a javelin, Shaka Zulu introduced the ikwla, a weapon with a shorter sphere and a longer spearhead, sort of like a sword. This weapon gave Shaka’s tribe a huge advantage over their opponents when they came up close for hand-to-hand combat. 2. He introduced cowhide shields Shaka Zulu supposedly introduced cowhide shields, which were much stronger than the iron or wood shields used previously. 3. He accustomed his troops to war conditions Some historians say that Shaka Zulu would make his troops go on 50-mile marches over rough and hot terrain for practice so they wouldn’t be fazed by difficult conditions during an actual battle. So he may have been the inventor of “drills.” 4. He introduced (and perhaps invented) the bull horn formation Many historians say Shaka Zulu was the first military leader to use the bull horn formation. This is a three-part attack system in which seasoned warriors form the “chest” of the horn at the front, pinning the enemy into a position where it can be easily attacked. Younger warriors would form the “horns” and encircle the enemy, attacking from the sides, and additional warriors formed the “loins,” standing behind the “chest” with their back to the battle, protecting against any additional attackers. 5. He differentiated soldiers Shaka Zulu had soldiers carry different colored or patterned shields, depending on their rank. In a troop of hundreds, this made it much easier for soldiers to know exactly where to go when forming the bull horn. "Over the past 19 days, over 1,000 Palestinians, mainly civilians, have been killed and more than 6,000 wounded, a Palestinian health official said. Israel has lost 40 soldiers and two civilians." The statement above from 680News reportage ( http://m.680news.com/2014/07/26/gaza-israel-supporters-rally-in-toronto/ ) shows who the coward is, from the on-going onslaught of Israelis on the Palestinians. With all its sophisticated and hi-tech military hardwares, Israel couldn't differentiate between a civilian and armed military personnel. I am one of those who will not believe that HAMAS is using civilians as shield; Israel is just determined to see that HAMAS, and by extension the Palestinians, pushed out of GAZA by force. What threat is the Palestinians to the Israelis if after 19 days of this 'war' the Palestine had lost over a thousand of its citizens and Israel who plays victim lost only 42? |
tonytony208: buhari can be a good president for northern nigeria (that is if middle belt can accept him as their president), but not for nigeria. Buhari's motives are very clear. His intention right from day one is to protect northern muslim's interest. The worst person i can have as a president is a religious and ethnic intolerant person like buhari. How could you speak of someone's intention with this level certainty when you are miles apart and you have never even met him? This is sin....You are perceives and you concluded, thats silly |
So we earned #475 billion in the month of February this year alone, and some months down the line we need #160 billion for security; even though we've been budgeting close to a trillion yearly since 2011. What is inside the heads of these our leaders sef? How do they spend all these monies and where are they putting it? These questions are surely not rhetorics, we need answers. Please read the Vanguard story here... http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/07/nigeria-earns-n475bn-india-netherlands-brazil-one-month/ |
==> I dont think the question should be how will Biafra succeed economically; the question should have been 'can the Igbos work together after they secure Bifra?' I say NO to that. They are never united on any issue except Biafra....and when Biafra eventuates, would they live together peacefully ever after? remember South Sudan! |
ijikoeche: As mata of fact! I dn't tink i'v seen him on air more dan 3times since dis inauguratn.Meaning you see more Whizkid and his ilks than you see your Vice President...that tells a lot about the Nigerian youths. Well I guess one sees what he wishes to see... |
It is obvious the OP and some of you don't watch NTA often, he is always representing the President at functions...so I think I see him often. You guys should always balance up what you watch on TV, you should watch NTA so as to acquaint yourself with Govt policies and programmes- lol, I am beginning to sound like Labaran Maku and Doyin Okupe... |
berem: Stealing is not corruption. If the money is truly missing America will know!MUMU quote...if this is what a citizen could be able to get as a statement/quote from his/her president, then we are in for a forlorn future....I can't but laugh, this guy is just too empty. Apart from the words written for him as speeches, he can't consciously or unconsciously articulate thoughts that would be cast on marble. If only we could act without sentiment Jonathan will never face us and stupidly ask us to re-elect him. mtchewwwwww! |
